Here’s a look at how well the reformulated Tom Ford Cheek Color ($60.00 for 0.28 oz.) did, now that I’ve reviewed all the shades in my possession! (There’s one missing, which I will review as soon as I have it!) For 2017, Tom Ford reformulated this powder blush formula, and the new formula is described as “layers of possibility, from a sexy glow to a more dramatic, color-rich look” (that sounds like “buildable”) that is supposed to apply “with the comfort of a cream.” Overall, the texture is thinner, finely-milled but drier than the original formula, and the shimmer has become finer and less apparent through many of the new-old shades. The formula was still fairly blendable to very blendable and particularly long-wearing with semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation.

HI Christine! How can you tell the difference between the blushes (old vs new) since they have the same name? I had old ones and ordered new ones, but some of my swatches look identical. Do you differentiate them by the ingredients? I do see the ingredients are different. Wondering if you could do a comparison (like you did with the swatches) with the ingredients?

Hi Kelly, I’ve been seeking out the original formula blushes and there are differences that differentiate old from new:
* New formula has a face on the back of the packaging and compact at the bottom – you can see this in Christine’s pics if you enlarge them; the original formula has a sticker with the blush name on the front; there’s no sticker on the new formula;
* The original and reformulated blushes have different UPC codes (and, on Nieman’s website, they have separate listings and different item numbers);
* The CCOs are selling the original blushes.

These no longer have the cachet to me. Not going to chase the old ones, either. There’s something deflating about reformulation for reformulation’ sake, esp on a world class product, that my interest goes poof. Liked the ones they d/d’d, like Savage, better than this crop. Not as if I need them, anyway, but kind of sad, somehow. Kelly: I’m sure Cosdna has the old formula up, and the website will have the new formula.

I actually like both formula’s but what I don’t like is Tom Ford using the same names it makes no sense what so ever a really dumb move on his part. The older formula just has more sparkle and the newer formula seems to be a little more powdery but at the same time more creamy. I did just order the old formula in ravish because the new ravish color is way too dark but the New Flush reminds me of the Old Ravish but slightly darker which I don’t like. Tom Ford needs to take charge of whoever is making the decisions regarding his makeup line but as long as he keeps making millions off of it; he probably has no complaints.

I only own one blush from Tom Ford, it’s the duo that came out last year called Bicoastal. I really was hoping to pick up a blush from the permanent line, now I am thinking maybe not, since they changed the formula and I am seeing negative comments. I have two of the airblushes from Marc Jacobs and so far loving them both. They work really well on dry cheeks like mine.

I’ve been filling in my TF blush collection upon hearing and seeing changes to the original formula. Most have been purchased at CCOs and fingers crossed the one coming from NM this week is the original formula. I like the look of Gratuitous but don’t think it would compliment my skin tone.
