Week in Review | March 25th through March 31st
Happy Saturday! I always enjoy seeing what makes up the week’s top ten highest-reviewed products, so I hope you find it somewhat interesting as well! 🙂 From the list, I really loved the shimmer in OCC’s Bon Bon, while the very ruby slippers-esque coloring of Estee Lauder’s Killer Kiss is the exact type of red I gravitate toward.
Every April Fool’s Day, I think about playing a joke, and I always toy with the idea of “quitting,” but I can’t seem to say goodbye, even as a joke. I just can’t find the words!  Hopefully, you don’t get too inundated with jokes today! 🙂
- My skin tone/coloring: Â Light-medium, warmer undertones
- Most loved product of the week: Â I had the chance to wear Tom Ford’s Nude Dip this week and remembered just how lovely it was, so definitely that!
- Most used product of the week: Since a lot of my color products vary from testing, I’d say staples like Anastasia Dip Brow and Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea Foundation.
- Any new beauty discoveries?:  I started using Tatcha’s Soothing Triple Recovery Cream, and I like it a lot so far but continue to struggle with the price.

My skin tone/coloring: light to medium with yellow undertones, dark brown eyes, black hair
Most loved product of the week: Rimmel Spice lip liner. I truly am quite surprised by how much I like this product. I’ve never been particularly drawn to lip pencils, but this color is really turning me around.
Most used product of the week: I’d say I used all my base products evenly:
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer in Light (admittedly a bit too light for me)
Tarte Double Duty powder foundation
Wet n Wild PhotoFocus powder
Any new beauty discoveries?: Nope!
OMG I love Rimmel Spice! I have it in a jar with my other liners and I’ve forgotten about it. Must put it in my everyday rotation ASAP. Thanks for the reminder that it exists!
I use same it’s my fave lip liner and my go to, I love it!!
My skin tone/coloring: light to medium with warm undertones, NC 23 ish
Most loved product of the week: Chanel Codes Subtils
Most used product of the week: Chanel Codes Subtils
Any new beauty discoveries?: Re-discorvery: I’ve been trying different primers and in the last week, YSL Blur primer came up in the rotation – this really is all I need. I’d shelved it because I was trying to match primers and foundations with their brands but this seems to work on all the foundations I’ve tried it with thus far. I’m amazed at how much it effects the wear and longevity.
I have the YSL Blur Primer in deluxe sample form (and I think I have like 3) so I really need to give that a try. I’ve heard positive things from people with dry and sensitive skin about it as well so that’s making me even more intrigued.
My skin tone/coloring: Very fair with neutral undertones; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Most loved product of the week: Tarte Make Believe in Yourself Palette; Nyx Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in Caberet Show.
Most used product of the week: Aside from my everyday staples, Nyx Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in Caberet Show and Wet n Wild Fergie Centerstage Collection Reflect Shimmer Palette in Rose Champagne Glow.
Any new beauty discoveries?: Tarte Make Believe in Yourself Palette. Gorgeous! I wore it yesterday and it was perfection. The matte crease color applied beautifully over the primer, which was a big relief.
My skin tone/coloring: NC15 w/some redness
Most loved product of the week: Hourglass Liberator Stylo
Most used product of the week: NARS Tinted Moisturizer in Finland, or Farmacy Green Screen (SPF)
Any new beauty discoveries?: nope, just the usual pages-long wishlist of items to get

Most used product: it’s a tie between moder renaissance palette, and ABH stick foundation. It’s been a heavy aABH month!
Favorite product: it’s a tie, again, between my 9 MUFE shadows, and my custom made blush/bronzer/highlight/setting powder palette!
Would love to hear more about your customised blush/Bronzer/highlight/setting powder! What a good idea!
Hey Rachel!! Thanks!!! 😀
I travel a LOT for my work, so I took a medium Z Palette, and I depotted a everything I’d need for my face in a pinch/for a trip!
I have For blushes:
Makeup Geek Romance (Shimmery orange coral)
Benefit’s Bella Bamba (Shimmery watermelon pink)
Colourpop’s Come and Get it (shimmery dark pink with gold shimmer)
Makeup Geek Soulmate (matte plum)
For Highlights I have:
Coastal Scents Elven Gold (Shimmery bright yellow)
Coastal Scents Lemon Chiffon (Shimmery blue/green)
Make Up For Ever ME-512 (Metallic Gold)
For bronzer I have:
The shimmery golden brown from ELF’s blush/bronzer duo.
And a matte brown Make Up For Ever Shadow to work as a matte bronzer.
For setting, I have a yellow matte powder.
I love this, because I can blush, bronze, highlight, and set all in one palette!! I highly recommend this if you travel a lot like myself!! 😀
Skin tone: porcelain with pink undertones
Most loved product of the week: UD Mushroom – and I think I am hitting the pan on this too!
Most used product this week: My Becca Jacklyn Hill palette
New beauty discoveries: No – but I do love that Tarte Jaded shade and it’s making me reach for my dupes of it.
My skin tone/coloring: Dark (Nars Macao) woth warm undertones.
Most loved product of the week: Chanel Énergies et Puretés in Tweed Coralline and Tweed Cherry Blossom. Since I’m darker, the overspray lightened the initial application and I wasn’t sure I’d like these after all, but the second application was the charm. These give my cheeks a very happy, lit-from-within glow. Blushes are my favorite makeup product to wear, and I probably fall in love with most of the ones I try. 🙂 These are my faves this week.
Most used product of the week: Hmm. Probably my foundation. I’m always switching it up, but I tend to wear the same one for the week. Makes getting ready easier. This week was Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder. My face was quite inflamed since I choose to ignore my dietary restrictions, so I needed the help of its anti-inflammatory properties.
Any new beauty discoveries?: I picked up the new Burberry Highlighters in Rose Gold and Pink. I have not worn either yet. I never thought I’d say this, but I have too much makeup. 🙂 It can take me awhile to work in new products.
My skin tone/coloring: very fair, with olivey-turquoise undertones.
Most loved product of the week: oh! the Wet n Wild Liquid Catsuit lipstick in Give Me Mocha. such a lovely muted terracotta color.
Most used product of the week: probably Tarte’s Double Duty Beauty Empowered Hybrid Gel Foundation! my mom bought me a tub when she was visiting and I’ve been wearing it every day since. it looks so good on my dehydrated and dull winter skin. SO brightening!
Any new beauty discoveries?: nothing this week! I just placed a Colourpop order last night, so hopefully that’ll be full of discoveries. I got four powder eyeshadows and a Lippie Sti…ck… Lippie Stix. (Singular.) Just one, in Faded! For shadows I got 143, Up and Up, Labyrinth, and Pep Talk. I’m so excited. I’m gonna try 143 as a blush!
Frankly (and absolutely no offense meant, this is JMO), I don’t care for the Saturday/Sunday Favorites/Roundup posts. They seem like throwaways–just an easy way to post and fill space (not that it doesn’t require some work, but not as much as new reviews), and I don’t care what was popular. You work hard all week, and you do a great deal of very good posting every day. I think you deserve the weekend off. I’d schedule one review each day so people don’t get out of the habit of coming to the page and tell readers that this is your new schedule. Those who like your blog won’t mind, and those who don’t complain all over the web all the time anyway. Thanks for all the work you do, and please don’t post this if you don’t want to.
Every day of the week has a post like this – hit list, rant & rave, poll, etc. It’s not a substitute for a post I would normally write, so I’m not trying to just fill space. We have tracking/analytics for all of our links, and these posts actually have great click-through rates as not everyone visits every day! Just like any other post, review or not, it’s not going to be useful for everyone. I still post the same number of reviews just about every day (four), including Saturday/Sunday. Sometimes a sneak peek gets posted instead of a review because unfortunately, some products might come in (e.g. a new collection that seems like I should get swatches up ASAP) and can take 8-12 hours to swatch/edit/crop/upload and I just run out of time for a review, which I know is obviously my fault – bad time management there! I hope that posting sneak peeks doesn’t count too much against me, since they actually take so much longer than the average review!
Again, this post doesn’t go up in lieu of a review – it is in addition to the normal amount of reviews I do each day! 🙂 For me, looking back on the week’s reviews, I actually find it really motivational for the next week – it gives me a good idea of whether I’m staying on track or not and whether I did a decent job of showcasing a variety of products/brands.
