MAC Too Chic Beauty Powder
MAC Stylishly Yours: Too Chic Beauty Powder
MAC Too Chic Beauty Powder ($22.00 for 0.35 oz.) is an ultra pale white gold with a subtle white shimmer-sheen. MAC describes this shade as a “soft peachy cream with fine shimmer.” Just like Play It Proper, this is a very pale shade. It is a lighter, less yellow version of NARS Albatross. It is also a paler version of Chez Chez Lame (close enough that you could just pick one of the two, rather than both).
Beauty powders have a very finely milled, silken texture that tends to settle well on the skin without looking powdery. I did find that the Stylishly Yours beauty powders were frostier than previous beauty powders, so I noticed it more on skin–partially due to my medium skin tone, though. You get an amazing amount of product for just $22–way better value than the Special Reserve Highlighting Powders, actually ($28 for the same amount).
P.S. — In the full face photo, I’m wearing Too Chic on cheeks, Neon Orange on lips, and on eyes, Chilled on Ice as a base, Retrospeck and Caviar Dreams on top with Dark Diversion to line (upper lash line) and I Get No Kick (lower lash line), and then New Hue on lashes.
MAC Stylishly Yours Collection is a limited edition launch (official information and photos here) that is set to launch in-stores on December 26th in North America, January 2011 for international MAC locations. The approximate launch date for online is December 24th.

RECOMMENDATION: I still have concerns about this working on medium-dark to dark skin tones without looking ashy. It will be a lovely highlighter for paler skin tones, though.

Do you think that this will work on cool skintones? I’m NW15 for refrence. Thank you 🙂
Yes!
Beautiful! Which do you prefer, this or Chez Chez Lame? I’m NC30, do you think it matters which one I get?
This one has a slightly better texture, but the colors themselves are close enough that you won’t see a major difference!
Thanks Christine!!
This is completely off topic but I love your lipstick! I wish it were available here. Would you know of a NARS or MUFE dupe?
Hmm so far nothing from Champale is calling out to me, though the promo image is beautiful!
MUFE #40 Rouge Artist would probably be the closest, though I haven’t seen it myself in person.
Had no clue I could use beauty powder as highlighter! Thanks for the heads up!
it looks like a nice pure highlight on you. i have “too face” pink leopard and sun bunny…thats what it looks like to me.
I’ll seriously consider buying it…
Does this compare to Too Faced Absolutely Invisible Candlelight? If so, how?
Invisible Candlelight is a lot yellower!
Thanks!
how does this compare to nars sex appeal blush? Thanks Christine
Sex Appeal is peach, so it’s nothing like it, IMO! Too Chic is a little golden/white gold and has much more frost/shimmer.
This is pretty on you!
I think I really want this one. I love beauty powders, and I can’t believe the new highlighting powders cost so much more for such a similar product.

Hey Christine, would you say these beauty powders are similar to shell pearl beauty powder? Just would like to know since I already own that and do not want to get something the same.
This one would be the closest, but Shell Pearl is more pigmented and peachy.

is this beauty powder too similar to perfect topping msf?
I’d say it’s peachier!
Really pretty color! That looks great on you! Too bad they don’t sell MAC where I live…
I had heard this was a great highlighter for us fair skinned (barely NC15) people so I went to MAC and told the MA I wanted to try this on as a highlighter. She proceeded to put it all over my face, and I was a bit worried with my blemishes and oily skin that I would look like a shiny disco ball with every blemish noticeable.
However, my skin has never looked so great, flawless almost! I think this is so finely milled that it did not settle into my pores or blemishes, but reflected the light so my skin looked even and a bit glowing.
I have never bought a back up of anything because nothing has ever made my skin “amazing,” but this does. I will get a backup tomorrow 🙂
So, if you are fair skinned, try it lightly all over and see how it works for you.
Hi. Which is a better highlighter, Gana or Too Chic? Thanks.
Gana
I purchased too chic as a highlighter per your review & I LOVE it! This & Dior amber diamond are my favs! Thanks for everything!
What are the ingredients in the Too Chic Beauty Powder? There are ingredients I need to avoid and I can’t seem to find the list anywhere.
I’m 155 in MUFE HD, and 150 Buff in Revlon Colorstay. I have yellow undertones, and I have blonde hair. Would you suggest ‘Too Chic’ or ‘Play It Proper’? I’m thinking Play It Proper is too pink to use as an highlighter, but I’m not sure.
Too Chic
Would too chic work for me if I’m a NW43?! If not what do you suggest?! I really love it, & I’ve never used a highlighter before.
I would pass – probably too light.
would this suit an nc42 skin tone?
Yes, I’d say so!
Hi Christine,
I think I asked my question in the wrong place, so I’m rewriting it here.
I was wondering if the Accentuate shade in the Accentuate/Sculpt sculpt & shape duo (or in the pro-pan) is similar to Too Chic. I got Too Chic in the latest release and want to know if I should get Accentuate. (I may be getting a A/S duo in a swap.)
I don’t usually contour, so I don’t reach for it often! Accentuate is very, very subtle – not as shimmery as Too Chic!
I just got this in my latest MAC haul. It’s a bit more expensive in Canada (~$27) even though the dollar is hovering around par, but I think it’s still worth it. It has a gorgeous, subtle glow on the skin and isn’t obviously sparkly; it just catches the light in a beautiful way.
Actually, I was wondering why more people weren’t raving about this but I think I got really lucky with my age and skin tone. I’m early 20’s (so the glow looks natural and there aren’t many fine lines for it to settle into) and I’m really pale (the lightest shade of MUFE foundation). The only con is there isn’t a lot of product; I may get a back-up just in case MAC doesn’t re-promote this next year.
