MAC Cham-Pale: Chez Chez Lame Special Reserve Highlighting Powder
MAC Chez Chez Lame Special Reserve Highlighter Powder ($28.00 for 0.35 oz.) is one of two new and limited edition highlighting powders included in the Cham-Pale launch (the other being Rose Ole). MAC describes it as a “soft gold with silver shimmer.” It’s a softened white gold with subtle yellow undertones and a soft white shimmer-sheen. I don’t see so much of a silver shimmer as I do a soft white one, though.
The texture is soft and smooth, and it applies beautifully on the face. It has a highly reflective quality that may make it too much glow for some, but it doesn’t seem to emphasize my pores, though. It doesn’t work for me as a blusher (I wasn’t expecting it to but just a heads up), and I do worry it will be ashy on darker skin tones, because of the paleness of the color and the amount of white shimmer. It’s not quite as soft as Mineralize Skinfinishes and a bit more powdery, nor as finely milled as beauty powders. The more neutral tone of this golden highlighter makes it appropriate for both cooler and warmer skin tones.
P.S. — In the full face photo, I wore Vintage Selection as a base, Retrospeck on the lid with Caviar Dreams in the crease, Feline on the waterline, Chez Chez Lame on cheeks, and Straight to the Head on lips.

Hi Christine, do you think this would show up on NC42 skin? it looks a bit light =/
I think it may turn ashy on darker skin tones.
i applied it on my friend who is NC45 and it looked beautiful it did not look or turn “ashy” i used it to highlight her face to give her a subtle glow
OMG!!!!!
I love the subtle gold shine of this hightlighter! I’d definitely consider getting it.
you look gorgeous! so where did you put special reserve? is it
on your cheeks close to your nose? i love how glowy it is!!
and what foundation are you wearing?
It’s all over the cheeks – I applied it like a blusher, rather than using a blush and then highlighting with it, because I wanted you to see the highlighter and not get distracted by a blush or anything!
This is Chanel’s Mat Lumiere.
wow i love it!! i guess i should check it out at the counter…
thanks as usual for your reviews!
Pretty, but I don’t know if it’s worth the price. Your makeup is absolutely gorgeous in that picture!
I loooove this.
Christine you’re the BEST! Thanks for uploading these reviews so fast so we can get our list done before the launch. 🙂
Very pretty, Christine! Is the shimmer very noticeable on your face?how would you compare this to the highlighters from Naked Honey?
The texture seemed pretty different, since those highlighters were more powdery. There is a full face photo in the post so you can see how the shimmer looks like on the face!
Speaking of shimmer, wondering what’s on your lips?
Please see the post – I listed everything I wore above.
I think it leaves such a pretty hint of a glow. I love it!!!
This looks very nice!!! I would like to see how it compares to NARS Albatross
I will be doing a separate post with swatches for potential dupes once I’ve had more time to play with the collection.
love the natural look 🙂
Wow I love the sparkly lipstick or gloss you’re wearing!
Wow this is actually really nice, a perfect sort of glow. But I wonder if it’ll look ashy on a MUFE HD 155 skin tone?
I think I mentioned in the review, but I think it will.
The lipgeelee ruined the reast of the beautiful look you had on for me
🙁 They look so sparkly
Sorry!
what u used on ur lips? sparkling 😉
I listed it in the post! 🙂
Kind of reminds me of ricepaper… Anyone think so, too?
If I had to pick a permanent eyeshadow, I would say closer to Nylon, since it has a strong golden tone.
i wonder if i should skip out on this? that maybe something like a nars albatross would do the same thing for my nw35 skin? thoughts?
I mentioned in the post FAQ that NARS Albatross is very similar 🙂
I like the subtle glow of this powder without being glittery. BTW Christine your makeup in that pic looks amazing!
Ahhh Christine…why do you have to be SO pretty? That lip combo is GORGEOUS on you!
Ooh, it’s lovely on you! I feel like it would be a great highlighter for a New Year’s party!
It looks gorgeous on you. Your skin looks great. Too bad it may turn ashy on me.
I wanted to post this. I just got home from some shopping, and saw on my phone you had these posts up. So, after some hiding of presents in the closet I hopped on here.
My daughter walked into the room and saw on the screen your pics of you wearing these products. She asked who you are, said you look so happy and pretty.
You do Christine. While I may only get a couple from this collex, you really do look extra beautiful in this collections’ pics.
Thank you, Jody!
gorgeous!!!!!!
WOW! I have wanted these highlighters as soon as I read they were coming out then I wanted them more when I saw the promo pictures and now I MUST have them! Haha. Christine, this looks stunning on you, so natural as if it is your own skin glowing by itself. Really pretty and I love the crumpled paper effect on the pressed powder.
Hey, Christine! How does this and rose ole compare to Dior’s Amber Diamond Skin Shimmer (my fav golden highlighter!)? Which 1 of the 3 would you prefer? Thanks!
Amber Diamond.
I think i’d like to purchase this, i just don’t know how often I’d use it. I have MAC’s happy together blush/highlighter, and I barely even use that..
OMG this is a beautiful highlighter! I’m actually glad it has some white shimmer too! I will def pick it up
Do you think in the UK this will be around the same price as an MSF?
I have no idea, I do not have UK prices, sorry!
Does this give a similar affect to vanilla pigment on the cheeks? It seems like it might.
I’d say it’s different, since Vanilla has more pink to it.
Christine, I have never used MAC foundation because my skin does not need very heavy coverage. I use Sonia Kashuk foundation, and I am Cream 03 in that brand. Do you know at all what I would be in MAC foundation?
This is the link to the foundation I use:

I use the perfecting luminous foundation, which can be found in the foundation collection link. I am Cream 03.
Please respond, this could help me so much! Thanks, Ginny
Maybe NC/NW 30?
I am very curious to see how this would come out on my NC 42 skin.
Do you think this will show up on a nc35 skin?
As a highlighter, yes.
This is one of the BEST pictures I’ve seen of you!!!
bought it and love it! i have NC25 skin and it’s a perfect cheek highlighter with any blush. the texture in the pan is really cool and the product itself is super smooth and buttery. a little goes a long way!
Even though I wasn’t sure of buying this reading the review, your full face pic makes me wanna buy it so much! 😀
Do you think its better than NARS albatross?….because i want a highlighter, and im torn between the two!
Ehh, I like Albatross better!
Personally, I did not like Chez Chez Lame. I prefer Too Chic & I love it so much! Chez Chez Lame has too much glitter & I didn’t like the texture, so I returned it. Rose Ole is just gorgeous tho!
What brush did you use to apply this?
