MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme: Part 1
Once I’ve been able to test out the wear of these a bit longer, I will post an overall/recap post to talk more about how these feel, wear, etc. (as well as give you a product rating). So far, I’m on hour three! I’m splitting these up into two posts, to help cut down on loading time and demand on the server. Plus, it means you can read this post while I write up color descriptions and put together part 2! 🙂
- Extended Play is a deepened red with a subtle blue base. It has a subtle ruby micro-shimmer, so it looks and reminds me of a holiday red. It does seem reminiscent of Queen’s Sin but glossier, not as frosty. This is a cream finish.
- Faithfully Yours is a plummy wine with neutral-cool undertones. It seems a bit like Amorous but darker, a little cooler. This is a cream finish.
- Goes and Goes is a brightened red-toned purple. This one reminded me of Up the Amp (I have no idea why I do not have a swatch of this lipstick up–must remedy that at some point), significantly less fuchsia/bright in comparison to Violetta. This is a cream finish.
- Good to Go is a vibrant neon orange. It reminded me of Neon Orange–it’s hard to tell the difference between the two; Good to Go seems a little lighter but just as bright. Morange is also similar, but I would say it’s a touch lighter. All three are fairly similar, so unless you dig bright orange, you don’t need ’em all. This is a cream finish.
- Love Forever! is a cool-toned darkened fuchsia pink. It’s a little darker than Pink Nouveau, but they seem quite similar. This is a cream finish.
- Made to Last is a plum-touched brown with subtle micro-shimmer. Though I don’t have them to compare directly, it seems similar to Retro (but darker) and Del Rio (but seems darker). This is a frost finish.

I saw these in the shop the other day but didn’t really realise they were new ’cause i hadn’t seen your review! made to last looks pretty on you but I’d probably go for love forever if i was getting one! oh and please do an up the amp swatch!
Assuming I can find my Up the Amp, but I have about 250 lipsticks/glosses ahead of it so I got time, LOL!
You should make a lipstick pool and dive into it! That’s my dream!
LOL! Believe it or not, but 250 lipsticks does not amount to much of a pool to dive into!
i really am loving Love Forever! might have to pick that up. and i really like the new packaging for these
The color are vibrant! They don’t appear to be drying like other long lasting lip sticks on the market. I think I will have to pick me up some Extended Play.
Extended Play, Good to Go, & Made to Last all look lovely!
The other shades look great on you, but wouldn’t on my much lighter skin tone.
Can’t wait to get your opinion on wear, because these look like a definite must-have. =]

Oh thank you so much for the swatches – I tired out Good to Go and I liked the texture but it was too orange for me (looking for a lipstick dupe for Revlon’s Coral Reef) and now I don’t have the time to get back to the MAC counter to try out the other colours.
I like the texture, even though it’s a little drying because it holds up really well, it’s almost like a lipstain. Doesn’t budge a bit.
Good to Go is quite, quite orange. Totally POW! in ya face kind of orange.
They’re permanent, so you do have some time to think about ’em!
Yes, it is really orange and very much in your face…really reminds me of the color of a carrot…well, it is too yellow for me somehow. I saw your review on the Venomous Villains collection and I think I’ll wait until it comes out, because Toxic Tale looks really like the colour I’m looking for plus it’s a satin…and as you say, those lip creams are permanent, so no need to hurry. 🙂
I have Coral Reef and I love it too but its a little thin…I wear MAC vegas volt under it (its a little darker but it works). Splendid by Smashbox goes nicely with it too (its a little lighter with subtle shimmer but looks nice and fresh).
I’m loving Faithfully Yours on you! .. I think I’ll have to splurge and get this! Hopefully its worth it! 😡

Just a quick question..
How do you feel about the packaging? It’s obviously very different than the typical lipstick packaging, reminds me of a cross between the typical lipstick bullet and the slimshine/mattene style packaging…
Does it feel cheaper or anything, or do you think MAC just wanted to make it easier to differentiate between Pro Longwears and your regular, run of the mill lipstick?

I like these! Nice packaging too.
i swatched these in the store earlier today…they seem perfect for this fall in terms of finish. i picked up ‘faithfully yours’ but i’m glad they’re permanent because there are quite a few shades i was eyeing!
i found that ‘goes and goes’ looked a little more like ‘go for it’ on my skintone (nw35 for reference). up the amp shows up a lot more fuschia in it by comparison.
This is off topic for these lipsticks but for the MAC 2010 Holiday collection, are the brush sets full size or travel size brushes usually?
They’re always travel-sized! I think sometimes they put together a pricier full-sized brush set, but I’m not 100% sure if they do that at the holidays or not.

These have been out in the UK for a few weeks now and I tested them, but none of the colours caught my eye. So I’ll pass. I have too many lipsticks anyway. 🙂

They’re very similar — Goes and Goes is definitely more opaque!

You can bring it in as an empty for recycling – you cannot apply your empties to get a Pro Longwear Lipcreme for free.

So just to follow-up…I bought it, and I am IN LOVE! I have trouble with lipsticks bleeding/feathering, so these are such a great thing for me. I’m finding the wear very comfortable and actually not as drying as many other lipsticks. I can’t wait to buy another – I think Good to Go is next, since I love Neon Orange but can’t wear it w/out liner.
Also: I’m not sure how I EVER lived without this site! 😀
