Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder

Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder

Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder ($46.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a new, limited edition highlighting powder with “high-impact, buildable radiance.” The texture was very soft and smooth, while it had a firmer feel to it overall, so it seems like a product that would take awhile to get through, but the firmness didn’t make it hard to apply or get color payoff out of the powder. It had medium, buildable coverage, which is in line with the brand’s description of the formula. It’s available in three shades (see reviews here)

Marc Jacobs Beauty Makeup Brushes

Marc Jacobs Beauty Makeup Brushes ($30.00 to $78.00) are all synthetic brushes, mostly for face, that I’ve been testing out for almost a year now (I owe you all reviews!). They’ve held up wonderfully and several have made it into my go-to brush arsenal: 1) The Conceal No. 14 Brush ($30.00) is excellent for diffusing and buffing concealer underneath the eye, 2) The Bronzer Brush No. 12 ($78.00) is nice for applying and dusting powder and finishing powders all over the skin, and 3) The Face II No. 2 Brush ($48.00) is great for applying liquid and cream foundations, particularly higher coverage formulas.

Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Color

Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Color ($35.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a creamy, pigmented, moisturizing formula that wears well and has a great, smoothing effect on the lips due to the consistency and finish. They have a ton of shades to choose from, too. You can check out the top 15 best-performing shades or read reviews for all shades.

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow ($65.00 for 0.56 oz.) is a highlighter and bronzer duo available in two shades (one for lighter skin tones, one for darker skin tones). My personal go-to is the lighter option, which is the original (review here) as it adds subtle warmth to my face and moderate luminosity. The Medium/dark version is warmer and deeper, which would work better on medium-tan to dark skin tones (review here). The texture of the powders is smooth, soft, and blendable with good wear.

Marc Jacobs Beauty The Social Butterfly Eyeshadow Palette

Marc Jacobs The Social Butterfly (230) Eyeshadow Palette ($59.00 for 0.25 oz.) is a neutral palette with a mix of mattes and shimmers, slightly cooler-than-average warmer shades. Overall, it’s a nice palette with a mixture of finishes and shades; it should work nicely as a standalone palette as well as can be mixed with pops of color (review here).

Kevyn Aucoin Starlight The Celestial Powder

Kevyn Aucoin Starlight The Celestial Powder ($44.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a champagne-shimmered peach with warm undertones and a luminous finish (review here). You’ve often seen me wear this shade in photos, and many readers will know that this is my particular favorite of the Celestial Powders (though I enjoy them all!). This one is perfect on my skin tone, because it adds subtle color, warmth, and glow, so it is versatile and can be worn alone or layered over a blush/bronzer. If you want something with less noticeable color, try Candlelight (review here), and if you want more warmth, try Sunlight (review here).

Marc Jacobs Beauty Air Blush

Marc Jacobs Beauty Air Blush ($42.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a real winner across the board. I think it actually comes pretty close to living up to its 24-hour claim, which I was completely surprised by. The formula also lives up to its buildable coverage and color claims, as each shade can be lighter or darker, depending on whether you lean to the left or right of the compact or just swirl altogether. The pigmentation is solidly medium and buildable, but the silky, smooth texture makes it forgiving and easy to sheer out or build-up without it looking powdery or caked on the skin (reviews here).

Estee Lauder Hi-Lustre Pure Color Envy Lipstick

Estee Lauder Hi-Lustre Pure Color Envy Lipstick

Estee Lauder Hi-Lustre Pure Color Envy Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is the newest in the Pure Color lipstick range, and this formula is a shimmery take on it. It’s supposed to have medium coverage with “lustrous color” and “brilliant shine.” The shade range varies from pearly to frosted in finish, medium to mostly opaque coverage, and is a hydrating, comfortable-to-wear formula that lasts between four and six hours. The consistency felt smooth, lightly creamy but not slippery, and held well to the lips but did not feel clingy (reviews here). They are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

Clarins Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm

Clarins Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm ($24.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is a squeeze-tube lip balm that I picked up a few weeks ago on a whim, but with all of this year’s lip product releases, I’ve been extremely impressed by this balm. It’s been my go-to since I bought it, and I find it very hydrating after a long day of lip swatching and lipstick testing! It wears well throughout the night, and I can always tell there’s still a bit left on, which is something I look for in my lip balms. There’s just enough adhesion so you get that longer wear without it feeling thick or tacky.

Clinique Cheek Pop Blush

Clinique Cheek Pop Blush ($21.00 for 0.12 oz.) is one of my all-time favorite blush formulas. I’ve reviewed them all, but some of my personal go-to shades are: Peach Pop, Ginger Pop, and Fig Pop! The texture of this formula is incredibly soft, smooth, and almost velvety, despite being a powder product. It sits beautifully on the skin giving it a luminous sheen but never emphasizes pores or the skin’s natural texture.

Kiehl’s Creme de Corps

Kiehl’s Creme de Corps ($29.50 for 8.0 fl. oz.) has been my favorite body moisturizer for years–it has been an Editor’s Choice Award winner since 2012. I love it for its intense hydration, smooth, spreadable consistency, and unscented nature. It doesn’t feel heavy but delivers hydration of a rich cream, and I like how it dries down quickly so it doesn’t feel greasy throughout the day.

I’ve used that Clarins lip balm for years and love it – not uber greasy, easy to apply (unlike the Bite stuff) and all around a great product that even works UNDER lipstick without making it slide off. My kids bought me the Kiehl’s body lotion (a huge one) a few years ago and while I like it well enough, I don’t find it all that fabulously moisturising or special, particularly given the price. Ditto the cream formula (I picked up a small jar of that stuff on sale somewhere – might have been a clearance) – I just don’t find it all that spectacular.

The Clarins surprised me! It’s one of the few higher-end lip balms that I like and actually thinks works particularly well.

You are one of the few that I’ve ever heard (the only one I can recall at the moment) who didn’t like Kiehl’s body lotion! I am shocked!

Clarins is really “under the radar” and I think it’s considered sort of stodgy but they honestly make some AMAZING products – their longer lasting lipsticks, which were discontinued a few years ago, were SO good; some of their eye quads of the past, like Forest , also terrific. A lot of really hidden gems.

BG is not on my radar, as there are no brick/mortars near me. Great 200 USD discount. The scary part is how easy it would be to drop a K at Bergdorf’s beauty! They have a great selection, when you go online. This would be an excellent opportunity for someone who has a large wish list and the means/intentions to pare it during this special.

I’ve never considered Bergdorf’s for online shopping; I guess it’s just not been on my radar, I’ve only visited the NYC store, which is very far from me now. I just recently used up my wish list on a Neimans order to be part of their Beauty Event — which has become a fun regular thing since I used to live near one — and before that the Saks percentage off sale advertised here, so I doubt I’ll do this one but it’s good to be reminded of this resource for future.

I love the look of that Marc Jacobs shadow palette. Some of the shades could potentially prove to be a bit too cool for my complexion, but I do like the selection of colors they included. Also, it’s good to hear that the Clarins formula is still performing well! I tried one of their tinted lip balms a while back, and while I have always preferred lip products with more opacity/fuller coverage, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. The balm managed to be very moisturizing without feel waxy or sticky on the lips.
