The Joues Contraste formula is supposed to have “buildable coverage” with a “silky texture.” It had semi-opaque coverage, which was buildable to fully opaque, but it seemed a bit more pigmented than your average blush from Chanel (which may be a good or bad thing, depending on your personal preference for pigmentation in a blush!). The texture was smooth, silky, and thin without being dusty or too firmly pressed in the pan. It applied evenly to the skin and blended out with fairly little work, but it could have been easier to diffuse along the edges (other Chanel blushes are easier to work with, but this was not a challenge to use either). The blush lasted just over eight and a half hours on my normal-to-dry skin before it started to fade noticeably.

Hmmmm….not in love as I thought I would be. But I LOVE your overall look! I’ll be on the lookout for your review on the eye quad.

This blush looks amazing on you, Christine. I love how it swatches, too. I get redness in my cheeks at times, and should stay away from red-based blushes. I just might swatch this at the counter for fun. ?

It still retained its warmer tones when worn at semi-sheer coverage – but maybe like a very warm pink-coral? It gets visibly redder at medium/semi-opaque application, though. I find it was closer to its color than some of the more fuchsia/blue-based red blushes, at sheerer coverage, though!

Good question, Wendy. Miss C, which of the dupes pinked down, off the top of your head? This one MUST be buildable, bec it’s such a light application, yet retains the color. Which brush did you use? Have wanted burnt pepper forever, so prob will get that dupe. In Italian, this one is Profondo Rosso, which is the name of a cult Gialli movie with a young, non-porcine David Hemings. Now, there’s a guy who did not age well.

Oh no, I’m liking these colors, including your eyes, quite a bit. Glad to see a comment that Clinique Cola Pop was also similar. Some money saved if it works for me.

You outdid yourself (if that’s possible) on this look: the eyeshadows makes your eye colour pop beautifully, which goes perfectly with the soft red blush and the sweet nude lipstick. I’ve got my fingers crossed these colours will look half as good on me. I love blushes that start off nice and sheer like this, so you can leave it as is for us more mature ladies or daytime looks, but can still be built up for you younger girls or evening.

Wow, this Chanel fall collection looks amazing on you. I was going to skip the whole collection, but you’ve seriously got me tempted for at least one item. I don’t typically go for red tones (I favor natural or pink colors), but these actually look rather rosy on you and quite wearable!

I don’t have a press release from Chanel (I inquired but haven’t heard back), but per Chanel’s website, it isn’t listed as limited edition. They *do* have “limited edition” for some of the products for fall, so presumably they accurately marked which ones were across the collection but you never know!

Wow, Christine, your look today is amazing! Your eyes just pop!!! Beautiful. Just beautiful. For evening, you could easily wear one of the darker reds with this look (or anytime, really). I think this collection will be a big hit for Chanel. Pretty. So pretty.

I promised myself not to like anything from this Chanel LE. I’m so breaking that promise. I really like this, but I have Frankly Scarlet, so I’ll probably pass it.
There are so many goodlooking makeup coming out for fall, and then soonish there will be the Christmas LE’s. So much makeup, so little time. Soon I need to change my look mid day to actually use all of my stuff 🙂

I had the same experience Cathy. I am so loving it, but my really cool/pink toned fair skin just said NO! I am heartbroken, but I do have a couple of the dupes…Frankly Scarlet, Chanel Charmade (cream blush), IT Matte Sweet Apple. I am dream from afar.

I have this, fair older skin, and I love it sheered out. It’s not like anything in my collection and Chanel is the one where I would take a chance with something out of my usual color choices. Bring on those fall sweaters asap to wear it with.

I have a couple of pretty, near-red blushes, but nothing that scarlet (mine tend a bit more berry or brownish). Tempted, but I feel like there are a couple blushes from indies I’ve been eyeing that would do my wallet more justice.

This blush is gorgeous, I had to have it as soon as I saw the colour. I am so glad I did buy it too as on using it you really need to barely touch the blush to get insane colour. A little work to blend but as long as cheeks are powdered not a problem. Using it now over a tan in the Uk and it still looks so nice but it will come into its own to give that just had a brisk walk in the countryside look in the Autumn, love it, thanks for the review .
