Makeup Atelier Nude Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Makeup Atelier Nude (T01S) Eyeshadow Palette
Makeup Atelier Nude (T01S) Eyeshadow Palette ($35.00 for 0.44 oz.) contains five eyeshadows. The color combination seemed more unique than not, as it combined warmer and cooler tones together, which resulted in an combination I don’t think I’ve ever worn before. The formula ran thin, sometimes a little dusty, but they were blendable and fairly easy to apply to bare skin. They tended to fade or crease within seven hours of wear for me. I’m not sold on the formula yet, but I have six more palettes to try!
Nude #1 is a light, white-beige with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had good color payoff with a slightly dusty, thinner texture that was blendable on the skin. On my skin tone, it was chalky, so it was hard to use it without it making the area look almost dry. This shade wore well for seven hours before fading. KVD Beauty Bone (LE, ) is cooler (95% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty About Last Night No. 01 (LE, ) is darker (95% similar). Too Faced Let It Snow (LE, $16.00) is cooler (95% similar). Tarte Charmer (PiP, ) is darker (95% similar). Sephora Put a Bow On It (LE, ) is darker (95% similar). Make Up For Ever M530 Eggshell (DC, $21.00) is warmer (95% similar). L'Oreal Paris Beach (P, $5.99) is cooler (95% similar). Urban Decay Thirteen (PiP, $19.00) is darker (95% similar). Viseart Petit Pro #1 (LE, ) is more muted (95% similar). Wet 'n' Wild Nude Awakening #5 (PiP, ) is darker, more muted (90% similar). Viseart Cashmere #1 (PiP, ) is cooler (90% similar). Too Faced Amour (LE, $16.00) is darker (90% similar). Viseart Grande Pro (Vol. 1) #1 (LE, ) is darker (90% similar). Sydney Grace Drift (P, $5.25) is more muted, cooler (90% similar). Sephora Powder (LE, ) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). KVD Beauty Lifelike (DC, ) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Off the Grid (LE, $19.00) is more muted, warmer (90% similar). ColourPop Glow (PiP, $6.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Hot Spot (PiP, $19.00) is darker (90% similar). Too Faced Glaze (LE, $16.00) is more muted, cooler (90% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. Nude #2 is a light-medium, peachy-orange with warm undertones and a fine shimmer finish. When I went to blend this shade, the shimmer blended off of the base color, leaving behind more of a satin finish and moderate shimmer fall out underneath the eye. The texture was thin and dusty, which might have been why the shimmer separated so readily, though the base color was fairly blendable. It lasted for seven hours on me. MAC Apricot Blend #3 (LE, ) is brighter (90% similar). LORAC Button (LE, $19.00) is cooler (90% similar). NARS St-Paul-de-Vence (Left) (DC, $25.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Coloured Raine Birthday Suit (DC, $6.99) is lighter (90% similar). ColourPop Play (LE, $6.00) is less shimmery, brighter, warmer (90% similar). Chanel Tisse Vendome #3 (PiP, ) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Wet 'n' Wild Comfort Zone #3 (PiP, ) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Viseart Orange Topaz (PiP, ) is more shimmery, lighter (85% similar). Sephora Latergram (DC, $10.00) is lighter (85% similar). bareMinerals Nirvana (P, ) is more shimmery, lighter (85% similar). Anastasia Gem (P, $12.00) is more shimmery, lighter (85% similar). NARS Nepal (P, $19.00) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (85% similar). KVD Beauty Galore #2 (LE, ) is lighter (80% similar). Anastasia Surface of the Sun (P, $12.00) is more shimmery, lighter (80% similar). MAC Mortal #2 (LE, ) is more shimmery, lighter (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Nude #3 is a light-medium, taupe-brown with warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had nice pigmentation with a soft, smooth, lightly dusty consistency that applied well to bare skin. The eyeshadow was blendable and easy to work with. On me, it started to crease after seven hours. Give Me Glow Ride or Die (P, $7.00) is less shimmery, warmer (95% similar). Wet 'n' Wild Stop Ruffling My Feathers #1 (LE, ) is darker (95% similar). Makeup Geek Barcelona Beach (DC, $6.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Sydney Grace Pismo (P, $5.25) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Wet 'n' Wild Nude Awakening #6 (PiP, ) is warmer (90% similar). Tarte View from the Taupe (LE, ) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Melt Cosmetics 1 More Thing (LE, ) is darker (90% similar). Chanel Blurry Mauve #4 (PiP, ) is less shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Lisa Eldridge Raw Sienna (P, $16.00) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Riffraff (LE, $17.00) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (90% similar). Huda Beauty Mauve #5 (PiP, ) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty I Have (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). ColourPop Banter (PiP, $4.50) is less shimmery, warmer (85% similar). Chanel Clair-Obscur #2 (PiP, ) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). Edward Bess Cosmic Bliss #1 (PiP, $30.00) is warmer (85% similar). Sephora Chou a La Creme (353) (P, $9.00) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). MAC Kid (P, $17.00) is warmer (85% similar). Wet 'n' Wild VI Purple #6 (PiP, ) is less shimmery, darker (80% similar). Lancome Sante (PiP, $19.00) is warmer (80% similar). Hourglass Infinity #2 (PiP, ) is darker, warmer (80% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. Nude #4 is a medium taupe with strong gray tones and a gold sparkle over a mostly matte finish. The sparkle comes away from the underlying color, so it can be messy to work with as the glittery bits get all over the face. The powder is very soft and smooth, so it blended out without issue, but it ends up looking matte at the end of application. It wore well for seven hours. Chanel Signe Particulier #2 (LE, ) is more shimmery (90% similar). Laura Mercier Twilight (LE, $29.00) is more shimmery (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Nude #5 is a muted, medium-dark bluish-gray with cool undertones and a soft, frosted finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a drier, dustier consistency that was workable but took extra effort to blend out to avoid patchiness. This shade lasted for seven hours on me. Fenty Beauty Brain Freeze (LE, ) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). KVD Beauty Filthy (LE, ) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). MAC A Waft of Grey #3 (PiP, $21.00) is more shimmery, cooler (90% similar). bareMinerals Mysterious Sky (LE, ) is cooler (90% similar). ColourPop Tink (LE, $6.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Viseart Cool Matte #8 (PiP, ) is less shimmery (90% similar). Natasha Denona Anthrazit (06P) (PiP, $29.00) is lighter (90% similar). theBalm Surf's Up (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (85% similar). Burberry Nickel (304) (P, $29.00) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (85% similar). MAC Sex & the Oyster (LE, $17.00) is lighter (85% similar). bareMinerals Chateau (LE, ) is cooler (85% similar). Not very exciting and that’s pretty damning coming from a neutrals lover like me. I’d be happier putting together a palette of shadows from Buxom for what is probably about the same price and you get to pick and choose.
That’s a really good point; the formulas are actually somewhat similar (a little thinner, a little dustier) between the two that it could really be a toss-up.
This color line up bores me. It just seems bland. I’m suddenly seeing these palettes everywhere, so I’m curious if they’ll live up to the hype.
I know Beautylish just launched it as a brand, so I wonder if it’s just the increased accessibility (and the “newness” of it arriving).
That explains it!
#4 swatched warmer than I though it would based on the pan color.
I can see what you mean!
Hmmm, not too impressed with this. Given these are neutrals, should get a higher score. Kind of looks dry and patchy on your eyes. I’d rather pay $10 more, and get a Viseart Theory Palette, which also has 6 shades instead of 5.
I definitely wasn’t impressed 🙁
This palette is more my nude style shame that the Nude #5 shadow brought down the grade slightly but it really is a solid B for the price tag.
It’s not bad, not great!
This looks so super amazing. I need this in my life! gorgeous shades!
Enjoy, Astha!
This IS odd-ish, with the mixture of cool and warm. I beautylished these, but I have zero trust on their customer reviews. Kind of liked the gray neutral palette. But their swatches always look photoshopped, too. Hell, they are better than Ulta, and Sepho’s aren’t much better. At least B tries to provide a swatch on a lighter and darker toned person. Give them points for trying, (but maybe take them away for Photoshopping.) Did not do too well on blind color selection (concealer..gave it away…) and have not reordered.
Mes Amies: en France, il y a 29 palettes. Vingt neuf, bebe!
I can’t recall hearing a reader comment about having their review removed from Beautylish, at least not yet, but I know many retailers do that.
I don’t mean removal…though I have a great personal big S story for another day. Idk, the site is loaded with professionals and semi pros, and I think they go on initial app/blending and color, possibly uniqueness. There’s an ‘endorse with no real system’ aspect. ( which is why you rule.). Also, think that it is easier to laud than to pan, if you want to put up your ideas on the latest thing. There has to be a reason for panning. Liking can just be an opinion. A bit of FOMO about one’s own ideas being published. I find some of this with my fantasy son, WG, too. He hates app techniques far more than he pans product. Think MUAs have a ‘how does this fill the holes in my kit and how can my kit have the latest goodies to impress the clients?’ approach.
‘
Ahh, I gotcha you now! 🙂
I just don’t know what I make of this quint? It has a rather peculiar pairing of shades, that’s for sure! Not really sold on its color concept, though.
It is! I’d be curious to see this combo on others for sure.
I love how shade #4 looks on your swatch but if the shimmer disappears during application it really loses what makes it interesting. This whole palette is not terrible but a bit underwhelming?
You summed it up well, Lulle 😉
I had such a wonderful experience when I was lucky enough to visit the Makeup Atelier store in Paris.
I’d heard so much about the brand that I wanted to go and see what they had.
In the store the attendant didn’t pay much attention to me, which I actually prefer when browsing makeup but ultimately decided to buy 2 foundations.
To my surprise when I went to pay, the store attendant asked me where I was from and when I told her I was Australian but lived in Canada she told me to wait a moment and then began lapping around the store picking up random items to throw in my bag for FREE. I ended up getting an assortment of 6 full sized items for simply “taking the time to visit their store” Not to mention I was extremely happy with the quality of their makeup. If I am ever lucky enough to find myself in Paris again, I will definitely be going back to buy a lot more. I think their stuff is great 🙂
What are your favorite products by the brand, Layla?
Their cream eyeshadows are fantastic. I have a Rose Gold one that I am almost out of and charcoal black one that I use under every smoky eye. I also have a bright green and bright blue one that I don’t use as much just because they’re not every day colours but they’re amazing too. They leave MAC paint pots in the dust. I also love their foundations, the liquid eye liner and I like their lipsticks (not the ones in the palettes though). I am a fan of their eyeshadows too. I don’t have a lot of them, but I happy with the ones I have. I do have to build them up a bit, but their longevity is really great for me (I have oily lids)
Thank you so much, Layla!!
I’ve never heard of this brand before your blog, I don’t think. Disappointed in the rating because I had seen your eye look in other posts recently and I love how it turned out! I feel like it’s hard to find a good matte grey that doesn’t actually turn more blue on my lid.
I have heard of the brand before, but I didn’t know too much about it prior to trying these!
This does seem a random collection of shades Christine. I am not really a fan of these colours – too matte, too warm etc. And it is a shame that the grey colour was the worst performing one. I am not sure that the grey really goes with those caramel coloured nudes…hmmm.
As usual, your eye look is very pretty.
It’s certainly a unique combo!
Apart from the second shade I don’t think I’d use this much, but I do think the colors look lovely together.
Glad you liked the combo!
The bottom liner look is very pretty, can you say what you used there?
Thanks.
Sephora Good Mood with the orange-y shade patted over it.
I wish the quality was better on this, because the combination of colors is different and interesting, and I really like the look you did with it. I’ve been eyeing these on Beautylish, the foundation also…
Thank you, Fran!
I had this palette from atelier, and I hated it, it’s such a boring palette… But atelier is pretty big here in Mexico and it has been for quite a while, they have a 20 pan palette which I have and I love, and I can say by far the eyeshadows, pigments and glitters are the best, but this palette is sooo boring! Try the other ones Christine, they’re amazing quality, texture, they’r matte eyeshadows are to dream for.
Thanks for the heads up!
