Anastasia Sun Dipped Glow Kit Review, Photos, Swatches
Anastasia Sun Dipped Glow Kit
Anastasia Sun Dipped Glow Kit ($40.00 for 1.04 oz.) includes four ultra-shimmery highlighters in warmer hues. The formula is consistent in the palette and also consistent with the other two, previously-released Glow Kits. I wish they had gone darker on both of the lighter shades–Summer and Moonstone–and differentiated better between the two, as they look quite similar even heavily applied but almost the same when diffused/sheered out (more like how typical highlighters are applied).
Bronzed is a medium-dark, coppery brown with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had good color payoff with a soft, smooth consistency that was fairly blendable and easy to use. The texture was almost too dense on the skin, which made blending less effortless compared to some highlighters, but it didn’t require too much extra time to blend it out. It lasted for eight hours on me before fading. Bobbi Brown Sunkissed Glow (P, $48.00) is lighter, cooler (95% similar). Cover FX Candlelight (P, $34.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Wet 'n' Wild Go With the Glow (P, $5.99) is darker (95% similar). Bobbi Brown Bronze (P, $46.00) is cooler (95% similar). theBalm Betty-Lou Manizer (P, $24.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Zoeva Surreal (P, $26.00) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (90% similar). ColourPop Avalon (P, $10.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Makeup Geek Ignite (P, $20.00) is cooler (90% similar). ColourPop Glo Up (LE, $8.00) is less shimmery, cooler (90% similar). Cover FX Gilded (LE, $34.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Too Faced Sun Bunny #1 (PiP, ) is lighter (90% similar). Summer is a light, yellowed gold with warm undertones and a luminous sheen. It wasn’t quite as high-shine as Bronzed, but it’s not a subtle highlight! It was richly pigmented with a very smooth, finely-milled texture that blended out easily. I noticed very slight emphasis of my skin’s texture when applied with about medium coverage. The highlighter wore well for just over eight hours. Morphe Lit (P, $14.00) is cooler (95% similar). Urban Decay Now's the Time (LE, $26.00) is more muted (95% similar). Huda Beauty Light #3 (PiP, ) is less shimmery, warmer (95% similar). Hourglass Champagne Strobe Light (LE, ) is more shimmery, warmer (95% similar). Smashbox Turn It On Pearl (PiP, ) is less shimmery (95% similar). Anastasia Sunburst (LE, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). Charlotte Tilbury Gold Bar (LE, ) is less shimmery (95% similar). LORAC Daylight (P, $23.00) is warmer (95% similar). Charlotte Tilbury Original (P, $38.00) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (90% similar). ColourPop Extra (LE, $12.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Make Up For Ever 13 Ivory (P, $21.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Coloured Raine No Flash Needed (P, $25.00) is cooler (90% similar). Ciate Starburst (P, $32.00) is less shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Hourglass Pure Strobe Light (LE, ) is darker, more muted (90% similar). Sydney Grace Velvet Gold (P, $9.00) is lighter (90% similar). Becca Moonstone (DC, $38.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Milani Summer Glow (P, $10.00) is less shimmery, more muted (90% similar). Anastasia Sunshine (LE, ) is more shimmery (90% similar). Chanel Duo de Camelias (Left) (LE, $80.00) is more shimmery, cooler (90% similar). J. Cat Beauty White Goddess (-, $9.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. Tourmaline is a muted, medium-dark taupe-bronze with warm undertones and a frosted sheen. Of the four, this one emphasized pores the most noticeably to me, and it’s one that needs a light hand to minimize the impact on the texture of the skin. The color payoff was good, while the texture was smooth in the pan and extremely easy to blend on the skin. I was able to get eight hours of wear out of this shade. Estee Lauder Modern Mercury (LE, $65.00) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (90% similar). NARS Friction (LE, $30.00) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Nude Glow (LE, $46.00) is lighter (85% similar). ColourPop The Golden Child (LE, $8.00) is lighter (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Tawny Glow (P, $48.00) is cooler (90% similar). Fenty Beauty Sand Castle (PiP, $36.00) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Anastasia Riviera (DC, $28.00) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (85% similar). Sydney Grace Pure Joy (P, $9.00) is more shimmery, cooler (80% similar). Fenty Beauty Stone Cold (LE, $36.00) is more shimmery, cooler (80% similar). Moonstone is a light, yellowed gold with warm undertones and a slightly sparkly, metallic sheen. It had mostly opaque color payoff with a fairly smooth, blendable texture–it wasn’t quite as creamy or as buttery compared to the other shades in the palette. It applied easily with a nice, diffused edge accomplished without trouble, and it seemed to be so bright applied that it didn’t emphasize my pores. Estee Lauder Courreges (LE, $32.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Charlotte Tilbury Gold Bar (LE, ) is less shimmery, lighter (95% similar). Tarte Daylight (LE, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). Cover FX Celestial (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker (95% similar). ColourPop Double Down (LE, $10.00) is lighter (95% similar). LORAC Daylight (P, $23.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). NYX Crystal Glare (P, $6.99) is less shimmery, darker (95% similar). NYX Moonbeam (P, $6.99) is less shimmery (95% similar). NARS Fort de France (P, $38.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). MAC Tutu (LE, $42.00) is lighter (90% similar). Tarte Gator Wings (LE, ) is darker (90% similar). MAC Double-Gleam (P, $42.00) is lighter (95% similar). ColourPop Lunch Money (P, $10.00) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Wonder Who (LE, ) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Bliss (LE, $26.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). Wet 'n' Wild Earth (LE, $6.99) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). OFRA Moondance (LE, $29.00) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). NARS Noctum (LE, ) is darker (90% similar). Melt Cosmetics Stargazer (P, $39.00) is darker (90% similar). ColourPop You're a Trip (LE, $10.00) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (90% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. I am not ashamed to say I was practically stalking the blog for this review! Clearly I don’t “need” this since I already have the first 2 Glow Kits, but I really enjoy them so my grabby-hands are going full speed. I am just bummed that with the exception of Tourmaline – which I find the most interesting/pretty/unique in this set- it seems quite similar to That Glow. Bronzed looks like Golden Bronze, Summer is a little lighter than but much like Sunburst, and Moonstone is like a lighter version of Bubbly. Plus you are right, highlighters as fair as Moonstone and Summer usually end up looking the same on the skin (these actually remind me of Becca Moonstone, but it looks like the dupes didn’t populate yet).
It’s not as unique as I anticipated – I thought it was going to lean more taupe or maybe plum, but it is pretty warm and bronzy overall.
Was really tempted by this but I would never be able to finish the palette! It’s great to see a bigger colour selection!
It’s huge!
I feel like this is the most universal GLOW kit they have put out yet…. and I want it!
Yay!
I wonder if they’ll make the shades from these glow kits available individually or in a “build your own kit” someday. Obvs the pans are removable, and they sell their eye shadows and contour kit pans individually. That would be nice.
I hope they do, because I think that would be way, way better than these pre-made ones.
I can even see in your photographs Tourmaline had pore issues. Too bad it’s a lovely shade.
It is a cool color!
Oh wow, beautiful! Such intensity!
They are very shiny!
I think Anasasia is going to take my entire June cosmetics budget with their summer collection!
Uh oh!
I thought this palette was supposed to have a new formula? According to ABH? I might be wrong!
It was listed with the other Glow Kits – didn’t see any note on their site (that’s where I bought mine) about that? I went through several pages of their Instagram and didn’t find anything. When I compare ingredient lists, they are the same (they are not the same for every shade), but they were consistent with the lists on the other two palettes.
It’s a beautiful palette, but I couldn’t use the two darker shades.
Money saved!
And I feel like l couldn’t use the 2 lighter shades on my dark skin. We should split it LOL! ?
I thought I didn’t need this new glow kit, then you posted this review and all of the swatches look amazing…. now I’ll be waiting for it’s return back to the Sephora Canada website haha
Hope it comes soon!
Oh, I love this one!!! These are very much my type of bronzey shades and golden highlighters all in one palette. I must admit, though, that I too would have liked more of a contrast between the lightest 2 shades. But I still believe this would work for me! ?
I think they could have done a true rose gold, maybe a rosy plum even…
Yes, definitely! A rose-gold would’ve elevated this one’s full potential to be an HG highlighting palette for us NC30/NW 25’s and darker skin tones.
One thing I don’t like about Anastasia contour kits and highlighter kits is that they are all made in the PRC. This is the only high end brand that I’ve discovered making products there. It makes me wonder about the true value of these sets :/ I bought the powder contour kit online and wasn’t very impressed with it (and was also surprised it was made in China)
Beautiful kit but overpriced 🙁
It contains a lot of product – it is the equivalent of four, full-sized highlighters – it is actually very well-priced compared to other similar, high-end brands, based on what I have seen.
Beautiful Glow Kit! I feel like this could be complementing on a lot of different skintones.
Maybe it’s just me, but I was secretly hoping for a rose gold kinda highlighter. I feel like both previous Glow Kits have colors that are really similar (or colors that can show up as almost the same on your skin) and a rose gold highlighter could’ve made this Glow Kit more unique. But besides that, this looks like a great product.
No, this definitely could have been better as a third kit release from the brand, IMO. I think a rose gold, copper, or something plummy would have fit really well. I also think a more medium (instead of a light) would have worked given the other two run lighter!
I don’t need, but oooohh yup, NEED
Haha!
Will this be available in Ulta and Sephora soon?
So sorry, Sydney! I really don’t know 🙁
I see what you mean – Summer and Moonstone are very similar, if not the same. I think a peachy or rosy colour would have been better to make the palette more appealing to a wider audience.
I agree! No need for both!
This is a lovely highlighter palette, I’d love to try Bronzed and Tourmaline, if they came separately. As it is I already have dupes for the other 2 shades, so it’s not worth me getting the whole palette ?.
I hope they’ll eventually offer them as singles!
Being extremely fair, I was a little apprehensive about buying this. But I gave in because this is hands-down my favorite highlighter formula (I have the Gleam kit) and gives me that in-your-face glow that I prefer with highlighters 😀 After using it for a few days, I love this palette! I definitely agree that the two lighter shades could be more different, but they are both gorgeous for that summer glow and complement a bronzey look well. The two darker shades definitely work as bronzers/blushes on my skin tone (I just use a light hand). The colors are also all gorgeous on eyes – I plan on taking this palette on vacations this summer and using it all over for a low-key summer glowing look!
I’d be curious to know the justification of the two lighter shades – if they are still pretty similar on even fairer skin, then I am definitely confused by the choice, lol!
Love it but the lighter colors wouldn’t work on my NC40 skin…too ashy perhaps…I didn’t get the other Glow kit (de warmer one) I’m afraid 🙁 Maybe next time I’ll grab one of those for me but I jumped on the Anastasia wagon too late!!!!
I hope they’ll release custom kits, so nobody has to pick up shades that won’t work on their skin tone!
It’s totally lovely, but I just got the Becca x Jaclyn Hill face palette and have dupes for the shades in here, so I’ll have to pass!
Glad you got your palette 😀
Summer and Moonstone look so pretty!
They are!
Of the three glow kits, which one would you say would be the most useful to fair, cool toned people?
Probably Gleam!
Christine! For a NC42ish/NW35ish which would you recommend that glow or sundipped? I’m so torn between the two!
Oh, that’s tough! I really think either could work 🙂
Hi, which glow kit would you recommend for deep skin tones – like Nw50+?
Sun Dipped or That Glow
Ohhh I wish that someday Anastasia do Glow Kit for neutral fair skin 🙁
