Week in Review | July 9th through July 15th
Here’s a look at the top 10 products reviewed in the last week, plus a summary of how many products and brands were reviewed and a break out of ratings! ๐
My faves for the week: ย I’m really digging the Marc Jacobs Air Blush formula overall, as I’m a huge fan of satiny/luminous blushes! ย Also, I’m still marveling over the long-wearing aspect of them. ย I was also pleasantly surprised that MAC’s Nordstrom C’est Chic palette was easy to use and could definitely work for a lot of neutral, matte eye looks, if one didn’t already have a good arsenal of neutrals in their stash.

This week I fell in love with Anastasia lipgloss in Tango from the limited edition summer kit. I didn’t even think I would like it but wow, it is so pretty! I have rediscovered MAC pigments this week, specifically Chatreuse and Rose, and have been dipping into my crushed metal pigments from the Surf the Ocean collection from 2011 (still stunning after five years). I have been continuing to get to know my Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca and Viseart Ribbons Boheme palettes–it is my goal to use these palettes every week during the month of July–and though they both scared me at first, they are actually fantastic palettes! Also this week I am revisiting my Too Faced Born this Way Foundation, and discovering that I like it best when I press it into my skin with my fingertips instead of using a brush or sponge to apply. I have visible pores and fingertip application works best for making them disappear.
Sometimes it’s all in the application method, isn’t it? So glad you’re finding a new way that works better for you with the Born This Way foundation!
This week the ABH Modern Renaissance and Too Faced Totally Cute Palettes were in rotation, as well as UD x Gwen Stefani Firebird lipstick.
The UD Moondust palette caught my eye, and I ordered it.
Can’t wait for you to get the new Moondust palette!
I 2nd, 3rd, and 4th the raves about the Marc Jacobs Air Blush. Jaded from so many bogus makeup products through the years, this one deserves a shout out. It is a lovely, quality product that lasts with integrity and just as it claims. I think it’s beautiful. I checked out Lines & Last Night in Sephora today, and am happy to report that the Kinks & Kisses I purchased sight unseen is the right color for me. I have never spent $42 on a blush ever, and I don’t regret it.
I know it’s a few years old, but the Dior quint in Trafalgar has caught my eye — again. I’ve been eyeing it since 2014. Those colors create a palette that suits me. But there are some questions about the performance of that quint that keeps me from taking the plunge. I think it would look really nice on me…considering….
Happy to hear that you’re really enjoying the MJB blush so far, Linda!
#1. is numerous uno for me, too! Love that particular MJ Air Blush, Night Fever & Hot Stuff.
That very pretty pale pink Catrice highlighter or the similar one by MAC both look so inviting right now! Something about an icy pink highlight right about now….108ยฐ.
However, MAC Never Say Never looks SO utterly perfect for late autumn/winter!
And the MAC C’est Chic palette will be VERY difficult for me to say no to.
I visited a friend today, who was doing a staycation at a local hotel, and we were outside – my goodness, it is hot hot hot!
It is indeed! When I went out late yesterday afternoon for an appointment that I now wish I’d have canceled, the heat REALLY got to me. When I did get home, I felt like a dead woman walking. Wonder where our monsoon went this year?
Well, at least we had a trickle last night, LOL!
Yep, finally! It rained pretty good by me. Enough that the sound of it hitting my roof lulled me to sleep.โก??
Zoevas today, UD some Vice or MUFE, maybe colorful 9 pan tomorrow. Can’t keep my hands,I mean lips off gone greige, thistle, and oblivion. Better go red tomorrow. Heat Wave is at the opposite end of the l/s spectrum, yeah, maybe with taj mahal. Those greige shades go perfectly with mood light and Nyx mauve me blush. It’s updated, but aging-friendly, if a little sedate.
Heat Wave with Taj Mahal — what a great idea!
Whatโs been in your rotation the most this week? Just bought Buxom eyeshadows including Glitz Factor, a great summer color — pink, peach, salmon-y.
What caught your eye? This week, I went to Nordstrom for MAC Water Deities, and was told that since it was in-store 15 days and I’d missed it. Grrr. I don’t want to buy online without trying in person. So I went over to B.Brown counter and bought Pure Sparkle shimmer gloss, remembering recent comments here, and am very happy with it.
Glitz Factor is a pretty one! ๐
Bobbi Brown does beautiful glosses!
