I used to love wearing this color like ten years ago, I wore Tarte Dollface to death. Now I feel like my skin tone has gotten a little yellower, (is that possible?) and peachier tones look more natural on me. Maybe just my perception/taste has changed. I should dig out Dollface.
It could be! It might even have to do with the clarity/evenness/state of your skin in general where maybe the undertones are coming out clearer now?
Sadly, it’s discontinued now but Too Faced used to make the most wonderful cotton candy-ish pink blush called La Vie en Rose. So, so very pretty. I also like Bobbi Brown’s Pale Pink which is seriously mis-named. There isn’t really anything pale about it – it’s pretty intense but it’s gorgeous.
Hopefully they’ll find a way to add it back with their newer formula!
Christine – La Vie en Rose is a real oldie. I can’t imagine them bringing it back and I might be a bit doubtful, even if they did, that it would be “the same”. But, fortunately, there are lots of other similar pink shades out there. They revamped their entire line a while back and sort of over the years and, sadly, they got rid of a lot of really great products – both eyeshadows and blushes.
Hahahaha! Yesss, I have a travel size of Bobbi Brown Pale Pink (about the size of a large eye shadow), and I swear it will last me a lifetime. It’s one of my most pigmented blushes. The first time I swiped it on my cheeks, I had instant clown cheeks. Now I just do a gentle dab with a soft brush. It’s a very pretty but intense pink, very brightening
Great choices! There are so many I don’t have. Cotton Candy pinks are so fun for spring and summer, especially.
My favorite candy pink is actually the one in the e.l.f. 50 Piece Makeup Artist Palette. It suits me perfectly and the quality is really nice. Other faves from my collection: MAC Pink Sprinkles (LE); The Balm Instain in Lace; Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Adored (DC’d) and Dollface; LORAC Unashamed; The Balm Down Boy; Tarina Tarantino Doll Face Blush in Candy Cameo; Sleek Blush in Pixie Pink; e.l.f. Studio Blush in Passion Pink; Too Faced Love Flush in Justify My Love; and BareMinerals Blush in Giddy Pink.
So many pretty choices, Rachel! Thank you as always for sharing your expertise 🙂
I have the UD Afterglow blush “Obsessed”, I love the colour but am not confident it looks all that great on me (I have very fair, cool toned skin). I’ll be playing around with it quite a bit now that spring is coming.
I’m surprised! I feel like that shade should work really well on cooler, fairer skin tone!
It might just be the way I am perceiving it, I’ve typically only worn coral-coloured blushes, so a cotton candy pink is very new to me. I completely agree that it seems like it should work well on cool, fair skin! I think I just need to get used to it.
I bet that is it!
I use “quickie” from UD, and I love it t gives a lovely flush to the check, My only complaint is that with every single blush that I own, nothing stay on my face longer than an hour. I use either a Nars primer or the Hourglass one, and I usually use the LM tinted moisturizer followed with a light dusting of the LM setting powder and then the L’oreal finishing spray. Does anyone have ideas on how to make my blush and makeup last all day?? I have dry, dry skin and older skin, but I have never been able to make my makeup last, even when I was younger. I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks!
Have you tried applying makeup on your bare skin to see how that lasts? It would be odd that either primer + your tinted moisturizer would be a problem, but you never know!
I have the same issue with my cheeks! Even when I put primer, foundation, setting powder, blush disappears within 1-2 hours. Now I also put on an additional layer – a cream base underneath my powder blushes. I use a MAC cream base that’s close to my skintone (so it doesn’t change the color of the blush), and I also have an ELF cream highlighter stick that I use, when I want more shimmer. If all else fails, I reach for the IT Cosmetics Vitality Cheek Stain – it’s the only blush that will last from 7AM to 10 PM on me with no touch ups, but only comes in 4 colors.
I have Tarte Dollface, and it’s a classic light pink color, but the full size is huge, kind of heavy for travel, but will last me a lifetime and more. I much prefer the smaller sizes that Tarte puts in their holiday value kits, I use them almost weekly.
It is hard to get through a full-sized blush!
Tarte Dollface is a classic. I’ve had it in my stash for years, and still wear it regularly.
It is!!
Out of these picks, I could definitely see TF Justify My Love and Milani Delezioso working out on me, because of their depth and hint of warmth. The only shade I own that even comes close to cotton candy pink is MAC Pink Swoon. Pink can look really funky on me, and not in a good way. It either has to have some warmth or be a very purplish darker pink, I think it has to do with my undertones.
Delizioso is SO nice! It is one of the better drugstore brushes I’ve tried!
I love a candy pink! Seriously, love. My favorites are Dior Rosy Glow Petal, Givenchy It-Girl Purple (so not purple), NARS Gaiety, Chanel Tweed Pink, and Make Up For Ever HD in 210 (cream blush). Clinique Plum Pop is also a candy pink on me and I love it as well.
Oddly, I don’t have any of the ones you listed, Christine, so I’m happy to have some new options. I love these posts so much.
Thank you, Eliz! Will have to look into Rosy Glow Petal!
These days I wear Essence’s Silky Blush in Adorable. It’s not advertised as a mineral blush but IMO the formula is pretty close. Very nice on my skin.
Happy to hear the formula is good on that!
This kind of color is so tricky for me to wear! Theoretically, a blue-pink should be so easy for me to wear… but it seems like the color has to be just exactly the right degree of lightness/darkness, brightness/muteness, and it helps if it’s a bit shimmery on the cheeks, a bit glossy on the lips — matte cotton candy pinks are definitely not for me. But I think I really need to try I’m a Lover!
I hope you can find a few to enjoy, Fran! 😀
I don’t own any of these. To think of it, I don’t think I have a true cotton candy pink blush anywhere in my stash! Though the pink shade in my Sisley L’Orchidee Rose Highlighting Blush does come close.
I am so surprised!
Do you recommend this colour for light skin with slightly yellow undertones (green eyes/chestnut hair)? This is only shade of blush that I want but I’m not sure if it will even suit me 🙁
All I’ve been applying is ‘full of joy’ by mac bcs I think my coral/magenta/other colours are too dark and make me look too flushed…
I think it can work, but it may take a little more experimentation with eyes/lips to bring it altogether 🙂
hmm alright thanks 😀
I’m not usually much of a fan of cotton candy pink anything on me, but I do like Too Faced Justify My Love applied with a light hand.
I’m so glad you found one that works for your tastes, Stephanie!
I love all the shades, I think Head Over Heel would probably be my best pick as it’s got a hint of warmth and isn’t quite as bright for my super pale skin. I do like cool toned blushes but I find that they tend to make my Rosacea more noticeable and warmer tones disguise it better. It’s about the only makeup sans champagne shadow that I primarily buy that’s warm toned.
So glad you liked this top 10!
