I really like the Edward Scissorhands! It was a lil’ somethin’ different. I hadn’t bought any other palettes all year, but I just broke down and ordered Gwen Stefani and Chocolate Bon Bons because it’s rare that a palette really caters to my specific color taste.

I love that you have the Spectrum in first!

I have my list of ones I picked up this year in order of most loved.
1) Urban Decay Urban Spectrum (excluded from my favourites of 2015 on the count that it is LE with LE shades. 😉 )
2) MUFE 15 Artist Shadow Palette
3) MUFE Artist Palette Vol. II – Artistic
4) Too Faced Semoi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette
5) Kat Von D Monarch Palette
6) Kat Von D Shade & Light Eye Palette

9) Essence ALL ABOUT … EYESHADOWS palettes 01 to 05.
10) Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette
11) MUFE Artist Palette Vol 1 – Nudes You Need
12) Hard Candy 20th Anniversary Top Ten Eyeshadow Collection palette in Sky’s the Limit
13) Tarte Tartelette
14) theBalm Nude’tube palette
15) Urban Decay Smoky (I acutally use this one alot but the quality could be improved)
16) Kevyn Aucoin The Contour Book The Art of Sculpting + Defining Volume I (the highlighter is my skin tone sore it sort of fails as a highlight for me)
17) Maybelline The Brights palette (really good and sadly LE)
18) Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette (just not shades I wear and too many midtones for fair skin)
19) Annabelle Smokey Nudes palette (a dud)

A lot didn’t get reviewed this year so they are in the ueue for next year. lol

Tom Ford PINK GLOW was such a neat palette in that it was really fallowing the rose trend, but all the products could be used all over the face. But at the potential price of $130CAN it’s too little product to justify for me.

Funnily enough most of the palettes I own or wanted to get. 😉 EN TAUPE, BRIDAL SATIN (03), and PARIS NUDE (06).

I really adore both the Chanel Tisse d’automne quad (do quads count as “palettes”?) and, even more, the MAC Posh Pedigree one…I just love using that! I also really like the Buxom customizable palettes (I now have 2 of them!!) and I’m probably the odd woman out, but I very much like UD’s Naked Smoky. Oh, and the Kat von D Shade+Light eyeshadow palette – I enjoy having that one too but I have to use it with other shadows/palettes much of the time because I really do love a bit of shimmer and that’s totally lacking in that palette.

Mariella Avatar

Gee willikers – how did I forget MUFE’s Nude You Need (so aptly named!). But those 2 quads I mentioned – real standouts. I can’t wait for that Bare Minerals 8-pan to be released in Sephora in Canada (please…please makeup gods, let it come here!)

I don’t have any of these, but I love the ones you picked – Pink Glow, Soft and Smokey and the Viseart and MUFE ones in particular are ones I remember really liking the swatches of from your reviews – still waiting for MUFE palettes to become available here (or to find somewhere that can ship them for a reasonable price).

I really love these end of the year lists by the way!

Alice, that was my predicament with the UD Urban Spectrum palette. I already had at least half of the shadows contained in it and even though there were 2 or 3 others that I really loved, I decided to be practical about it (and, of course, now I’m having mild regrets but I’m sure I’ll get over it in time….or maybe not – I’m still regretting not buying the very first Vice palette).

Katherine T. Avatar

Oh, I love that Sephora Mild to Wild Khaki kit, even got a backup, SO sad it’s now gone. I don’t see it in stores or on their website anymore 🙁 I have an entire drawerful of khaki green shadows, and I keep going back to that kit.

J Avatar

Argh! I would love to get Bare Minerals Soft and the Smoky palette but can’t find a retailer in Canada & QVC doesn’t ship up here…if anyone knows where I can get it (not on ebay) it would be greatly appreciated!

Traycie Avatar

The Visearts are confusing and you just made which , V palettes are the best, so easy for future purchase. I bought the MUFE and Spectrum on your recommendation. I also bought the Mac Macnificent Me palette on your recommendation. Happy that the MUFE neutral you need is P. Hopefully they will carry it in Sephora after MUFE closes at SCP.

Erin Avatar

I really enjoyed the MUFE Holiday. I just haven’t pulled the trigger yet due to the colors being a bit bold for my every day looks and the store swatches were good but two were very dry and powdery (the first two blues). I wasn’t using primer and I was using my recently sanitized fingers so I didn’t really think it was 100% the fault of the palette. If it goes on sale, I might pick it up. I was very interested in the Ciaté palettes but I haven’t gotten them either. If they are still around at Valentines day, I’ll tell my hubby to get them for me.

i liked the marc jacobs the most. the colours are mine and i really enjoyed that greyish colours in general appeared more often. at least i had the impression..

After raving like a lunatic about Viseart Paris Nudes, I’m so glad you finally tried it, and it’s now one of your personal faves! I really hope Viseart comes out with more kits this year. My faves this year were UD Spectrum ( such hard colors to find in a palette and to get right, but UD knocked everyone of them out of the ballpark), MAC Guo Pei Night Sky (awesome blue palettes are so rare), MAC Guo Pei Morning Light (thanks to Nicole for tempting me) , Chanel Tisse L’es Automnes, Chanel Tisse Les Smoky (my long search for a smoky eye palette that will hold up on my oily lids is finally over!), and Becca Afterglow Palette

Brandi Avatar

I’m not much of a palette girl. But, I had to buy Vice4 when it went super cheap and I bought BonBons because I thought it was the most adorable thing ever! I Just got them the other day and today I got to break out the bonbons. I loved it!

Bananasforbourbon Avatar

I went easy on palettes this year…only picked up Paris Nudes (LOVELOVELOVE) and TF Nude Dip. I’m really loving both.
I’ve had my eye on the Nudes You Need, but I already have several of the shades in the singles. Maybe for my birthday in March…?

Quinctia Avatar

The Spring LE WnW release had a few 6-pans that were nice, but monochromatic enough that they didn’t excite me. I picked up two, because the pink one had a nice deep berry shade in it, and the aqua one was nice, had a grey-green sort of shade that was a much better version of the one in that watercolor palette that was in your list of 2015 duds.

I also grabbed one of the Milani fierce foil eyeshine quads…that’s an “interesting” product, to say the least. I’ve found a way to work with it, and it can have a really cool effect when used well, but it’s crazy as a release that got slotted into the main product displays.

I’ve just slowed down on palettes in general, though. I’ve got a lot of eyeshadow, things have to be really unique or somewhat unique + cheap for me to spring for it these days.

Pink Glow TF is my favorite. I cannot believe I was so hesitant to purchase this. Here we are in December and I am still using this summer palette. I am definitely going to preorder next summer’s offerings. I also gifted the Marc Jacobs and MUFE palettes on your list as well as UD Gwen Stefani. I love eye palettes!

the price of Viseart palette make my purse in grieve situation but they don’t make me feel regret to buy it.Sultry Muse is totally a dear for me this year! 😉 for MUFE 15 Artist Shadow(and many palettes from MUFE) was in my top 5 in my first used. I’m also like Zoeva Palette in Rose Golden too.

Fran Avatar

My favorite palettes this year are the MUFE holiday and both 9-pan palettes (Vol. 1 Nudes and Vol. 2 brights), Viseart Bridal Satin and Paris Nude, Kevyn Aucoin Contour Book/the Art of Sculpting Vol. 2 (even though there are cream and powder products in the same palette — something I usually avoid — so far the powders aren’t messing up the cream products), and Ciate London x Olivia Palermo The Smoldering Eye Palette and the Smokey Suedes Eye Palette. I wish I hadn’t missed the Urban Spectrum palette, even though quite a few of the shades are ones I’d use infrequently (pinks, teals). I debated a long time about the Free Spirit Style Eye-Con palette; it just didn’t have that many shades that really spoke to me personally, even if the quality was there. I’d like to try Zoeva and hope their products become more readily available in the U.S. The Ready eye shadow palettes don’t seem to apply as pigmented on me as they do for you, Christine. And I’ve discovered that I often don’t make very good use of blush palettes, especially if a lot of the shades are warm; with my rosacea, I apply cheek products so subtly that I seem to be better off with a tightly edited collection of carefully selected singles (except I do use my Hourglass blush palette from time to time — the formula works really well for me).

Fran Avatar

Thanks for the compliment, Christine 🙂 I did spend a bundle, but I really love these, and I’ve gotten better about selecting palettes that I’ll actually use and passing on those that have a couple of colors that I adore but that I won’t really get all that much use out of otherwise because of my own coloring and preferences (like Vice 4, Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani).

Vanessa Avatar

My favorite eye shadow palette is definitely the Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix because I’m such a sucker for green/teal/blue/purple shades! I’m just so in love with it and I can’t stop saying it! 😀 My favorite shade is Lemmy (btw, may he rest in peace). I’ve also really enjoyed the Sephora Ombre Obsession Eyeshadow palette, especially the green/teal shades. The Vice 4 palette has grown on me and I especially love the *gasp!* green + purples shades. Oh! And the Anastasia Self-Made palette was a nice surprise. For face, I really like the Sephora Ombre Obsession Blush palette and the Becca Champagne Glow palette. I’m really interested/want the Viseart Bright Editorials palette, Urban Decay Electric palette, Urban Decay Spectrum palette and the Too Faced Love Flushed Palette. Also, I’m looking forward to more info on the Too Faced Peach palette as well their PB&J palette.

Cat Avatar

My favorites have been the NARS Dual Intensity, the ABH World Traveler Couture, and (my absolute favorite) the UD Gwen Stefani palette. If I could pull myself away from the UD palette, I’d probably love the KVD Mi Vida Loca palette, too!

This year was a win-win year for me and great palettes! And all super cheap! Nothing near 10 pounds!

Here are my faves –
1) MUR Makeup Revolution London Ultra Blush Palette Sugar and Spice
2) MUR Flawless Ultra Eyeshadows
3) MUR All About Cream Utlra Blush Palette
4) MUR Ultra Cream Contour Palette (as good as ABH)
5) bh Cosmetics Carli Bybel Eyeshadow & Highlighter Palette
These all stacked up against my higher priced
usuals and the color pay off and texture and beauty of the Carli Bybel
eyeshadows beats my expensive brands. I took a chance and it paid off.
