Viseart Bridal Satin (03) Eyeshadow Palette

Viseart Bridal Satin (03) Eyeshadow Palette ($80.00 for 0.84 oz.) contains twelve shimmery shades ranging from buttery yellow to violet to satiny black. You know you’re onto something when the lower scoring product is a B+ and its the lone B+ at that. The formula on these is incredibly buttery, dense, and richly pigmented, which made them easy to apply to bare lids and get long, extended wear (nine to ten hours). The ingredient list on this palette is actually quite different than the other two shimmery palettes I bought this year (I got this one last year), and I wonder if that accounts for the creamier, smoother texture of this palette, whereas Paris Nudes was a little softer and more powdery (to a small degree), as this felt noticeably different in texture, though performance was more comparable.

Champagne is a lightly brightened, light-medium buttery yellow gold with a frosted finish. There’s enough white in the base to give it more of a butter yellow coloring, but the strong sheen and warmer undertones make it appear golden, too. It was intensely pigmented with a rich, dense, and buttery texture that blended beautifully on the skin. It wore well for ten hours without fading or creasing. Disney by Sephora Sand in the Glass (LE, ) is less shimmery. MAC Lily White (2014) (LE, $21.00) is less shimmery. MAC In the Meadow #2 (LE, $21.00) is less shimmery. Peony is a brightened, light-medium pink with subtle, warmer undertones and a very frosted, slightly metallic finish. It had really good color payoff, but the texture was a smidgen thick that it was easily over-applied, so use less than you think when initially using it. Oh, wow, this palette scored so well, and the colors are so gorgeous! I can’t believe how well the purples, blues, and black did -those are tough colors to get right. I’m putting this palette on my wish list

Celia Avatar

Sooo much! It’s definitely pretty versatile for me. Of course, it helps to have something matte around with this one fordepth so I usually pair it with toned down neutral mattes from my MUFE Artist collection if I’m going for nude looks. I haven’t picked up Cool Mattes yet, but if/when I do I’m definitely going to be trying them together. HIGHLY recommend mixing the orange, champagne, etc. tones with Tom Ford’s Golden Peach (Pink Glow) or Naked Bronze (Spice). They are AMAZING on those and in general seem to work very well across the board for all cream shadows (MUFE’s light blue aqua cream works beautifully with Blue Diamond, Sterling, and the purple shades). Many of the Sultry Muse shades layer really well it to get amazing dimensional colors. Plus they’re great for adding light to bold, bright colorful looks. Perfect for inner corners or adding something of a pop and sophisticated sheen to the center lid.

All of the colors really lend themselves to adding more dimension and uniqueness to neutral-ish looks. Peony very much adds something to a pink-based look, Blue Diamond allows for a very special ice blue, the neutrals and Orange Topaz make a nude-inspired look take on more depth. That aspect makes it so great for bridal looks, for sure. Wearable but special. Easy to use in a neutral way or with intense colors. The beauty in this one is how it blends and how everything layers. Clearly I could go on 😛

Celia Avatar

I’m just happy you managed to read that with all the typos and blathering I did there haha 😛 Clearly I was a little sleep-deprived yesterday but I hope my points came across anyway. Seriously recommend layering Orange Topaz over Spice though. It is beyond beautiful (I think of any brand, Viseart makes the best orange shades. All of their oranges always work amazingly for me). Those two were meant to be together. Forgot to mention that Peony is magic with Naked 3. Really brings a special element to that palette since it works so well with all the pink/rosy tones and adds a lot more pink to it without darkening the look at all. Peony can also make Pink Glow/Golden Peach take a wonderful turn. Tom Ford colors are so sexy and Peony is so innocent that they’re sort of the leather and lace of pinks for me. Big one I forgot to mention that I intended to is that they also layer amazingly over ColourPop shadows.

I always love hearing about the different ways people use their more layering-centered palettes as well. Always helps for inspiration.

Wow, thank you for reviewing this. I heard mix and match opinion about this but now I see your rating and the swatch, I’m down. 🙂 I will order this for sure 🙂

Nancy T Avatar

I’m IMPRESSED!!! These appear to have worked so seamlessly and smoothly in the eye look you did! They certainly seem to be on the MUFE level of quality for sure. The ONLY 2 shades I cannot see myself using on me are Peony and Blue Diamond as I look horrid in pastels with lt. green or yellow-ish white or peach being the exceptions.

Jessica Avatar

I did. I purchased mine last month. Pretty much all the shades in my palette are lovely and smooth, but Violet is not. That’s the color I was most excited about, too.

Celia Avatar

That’s sad to hear 🙁 Mine is about as old as Christine’s and Prune/Violet are both lovely and as pigmented as the rest. It would be a shame if the formula on this one changed recently.

Lotus Avatar

This is one of them which I passed on. It just had every color that I already have in spades from numerous other brands with outstanding quality, texture/finish… It would be useless to me. I think the review is well done, though. And your eye is always lovely! Obviously I love the colors or I would t have all of them with so many duplicates so yeah, I’d say this one would be a priority choice for groupings! 🙂

Genevieve Avatar

A really lovely palette – but, sigh, no greens! Instead of the orange and a brown, a couple of greens should have been included to round out the palette. But for those who love these colours – this palette is fabulous for you. Another great eye look Christine!

Bonnie Avatar

Christine do you know if they changed the ingredients on this particular one since you bought yours? This is absolutely the one I’m most interested in (although I really dislike the name “bridal satin”, the colors are gorgeous!! I wish it was named after famous Paris locales or streets like Paris Nudes! So much more appealing to me) ANYWAY, sorry for the rant, I just want to make sure this palette is still the same quality of buttery smooth and not powdery eyeshadows, before I plunk down so much cash! 🙂

Christine Avatar

The ingredient lists on Paris Nudes/Sultry Muse are different and I bought those most recently, so I think this is the older ingredient list… but that being said, I bought Dark Mattes, Cool Mattes, etc. and those had the same older ingredient list as Bridal Satin and Neutral Matte, so I’m not sure.

Allison Avatar

What a review! Actually, the scores that you gave this shadows in this palette was what I was hoping for in the new Dark Matte Palette. I would like to get a second Viseart palette to have along with the Neutral Matte Palette. These shades are gorgeous, but I’m nervous about buying that many shimmer shades. However, the look you created was lovely with shimmer but not glitter. So, hmmmm. Is this Bridal palette new or has it been around? Have you reviewed the Paris palette? Since these are so expensive, I can’t load up on ’em!

WARPAINTandUnicorns Avatar

I’ve been trying to talk myself out of this palette, “I don’t need this one, I have shades like it, but it has pastels and a light orange…. oh look it got a good mark!” O___o

I’ve been trying to narrow it down to 3 palettes for next falls IMATS to pick up but I just don’t know what to get. lol When I think about price there is a lot of product in these, I spend about $30 on a single makeup brush so $80CAN doesn’t hurt nearly as badly (They are also $60 at the show. 😉 )

I’m torn between the Paris Nude and the Bridal Satin. I know I don’t need both, but they are different enough that I want both.

Naila Avatar

Of all the viseart palettes this is the one I was most excited about…especially because I love color…particularly purples. However, I found I was the most disappointed in violet and prune. I found I really had to layer them to get a rich color payoff. I wonder if I got a bad batch or something. I did find the other colors in the palette to be smoother and pigmented. Thankyou for your review…very thorough!

Kristine T Avatar

Can you make a comparison between the old and the new formula? Most reviews I checked are stating the old formula is better than new ones. I wanted to get this and the neutral matte palette. Or Paris nude and neutral matte palette? Please help me decide. Thank you again! Love all your reviews! I’ll never buy cosmetics without an A rating from you (newbie here) 🙂

Arundhatee Talukdar Avatar

I am doing very extensive research on what to buy with my 25$ off coupon from Sephora. 🙂 I have their dark matte and I am jst starting to use it. This is the other one, I am considering 🙂 the conversation below about any change in formula kind of scares me though 🙁

Jackie Avatar

Would you say Viseart is the BEST eyeshadow palette out there? I’ve been itching to get a new palette for 2 weeks now. I researched everything from UD Naked Basics, Lorac Pro, Tartelette, Too Faced Semi Chocolate, Smashbox Full Exposure, Kat Von D Shade + Light, etc. and have zeroed in on nothing! I only have Naked 3 and an Estee Lauder 16 shadow palette from their package 2 years ago and some quads. 90% of my eyeshadows consists of shimmers so I’ve been dying to get my hands on a good set of matte neutral shades. If I were only to pick one, would you be able to suggest any? Desperate here already 😐

Christine Avatar

Kind of depend son what you’re looking for, I would say? It is a good formula and pretty consistent, so they are better palettes than most. However, they are specifically designed to be used with other Viseart palettes so they are less versatile as standalone palettes than most palettes.
