Kat Von D Requiem Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is described as a “soft lilac.” It’s a softened, light-medium pinky lavender with neutral-to-cool undertones and a flat, matte finish. It had mostly opaque pigmentation (there’s a very faint shadow of my lip freckle peeking through). The drying time on this shade was more in line with the rest of the range, so you’ll want to avoid pressing your lips together for about two minutes or so to maintain your smooth application. This shade lasted for seven hours on me with some fading becoming visible after five hours, and it was a little drying after six hours. MAC Dress it Up (P, $18.00) is darker, glossier. Kat Von D Ayesha Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is described as a “rich lavender.” It’s a muted, medium-dark purple with almost neutral undertones and a matte finish. It is a more challenging shade to apply, as the texture seemed to dry quickly and had a tendency to “crack” once dry. It didn’t apply evenly, and it felt moderately drying after four hours of wear. The color lasted closer to seven and a half hours, but it had faded unevenly. It’s a very interesting color, one that I don’t have much like, but it is finicky. FORMULA SUMMARY | Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is supposed to be a “long-wear, full coverage liquid lipstick with a smooth, matte finish.” Of the liquid lipsticks on the market that go and have a full dry-down, Kat Von D’s formula remains my favorite, as it is the easiest to apply with the kindest learning curve and lasts awhile. Some shades are more drying than others, but typically they don’t get drying until after five to six hours of wear. They often wear anywhere from six to ten hours, depending on what you’ve had to eat or drink during the day. This formula is thin but not watery, has a longer dry down than most liquid lipsticks (but I noticed some of the newer shades dried to a mostly dry finish faster), and layers better than most (you can touch-up or add a second layer for more coverage). It takes about a minute for it to mostly set, but it will remain a little tacky in places for up to three minutes so you’ll want to avoid pressing your lips together if it doesn’t seem totally dry initially. There isn’t a noticeable scent or taste. If you don’t mind the trade-off between very long, near-pristine wear and being drying, it’s worth checking out. As a bonus, these also come with one of the most generous amounts of products within the realm of liquid lipsticks!

I felt the same way when I swatched Ayesha last week at Sephora. I loved it so Mich I ended up going back for it on my lunch break. Had I seen this pink one I would have grabbed it too. They gray tones make them so much more wearable for me

So far, they are mostly consistent – and there haven’t been any TOTAL duds.
I love gray lavenders. I like the color of Requiem much more than I thought. Ayesha is such a nice color, but the patchiness is so unimpressive. Maybe two coats would be better.
I think it should be okay with two coats since this formula is forgiving for layering!
I use a lip liner with most of the liquid lipsticks I have. It makes the outlining easier for me too.Otherwise, I just go bananas trying to get it crisp. I noticed in a video,KVD actually uses a lip brush.
I always use a liner with liquid lipsticks. I agree, it makes the edges look much nicer.

Requiem intrigues me as a possible mlbb color (for my really pale lips, its hard for me to match my lip color) but I think it might be too cool and pale. Maybe I’ll try Maybelline Blushing Pout instead.

I have both very unique colors. I also have Maybelline Blushing Pout. Requiem is pretty unique but Ayesha even more so! I have a lot of purples (MAC/NYX/other Kat Von D and indie brands as well) none look like Ayesha which has this really cool gray undertone and neutral quality. If you love purple you NEED these both IMO

I agree about the names. So fun. I was really disappointed that the NARS ones didn’t have my name. They had Raquel: Close, but no cigar. I have an e.l.f. lipgloss with my husband’s name (Michael). It’s a great color, too, which makes it even nicer.
Do you think either of these would look nice on someone with fair cool toned skin? I’ve been eyeing both of these, especially Ayesha. But I’ve been afraid they’d wash me out too much.

Does it matter if they are still long-wearing or not? I think I may have pulled all dupes, glossy or not, for these two, though (less dupes in general – if I can give you 20 matte dupes, I don’t usually stray to a totally opposite finish).
No it does not matter that much 🙂 I just want to know a brand in general, not to bother you detailedly about which brand which series which color like what, aint no Christine got time for that I bet! I’m just eager to learn non-matte versions of opaque liquid lipsticks. Only one I recall now is Armani’s line but that does not have too many options. You had reviewed one named Blush very long ago and that looked amazing, I did not forget that one for sure! I am looking for more affordable alternatives that actually deserve the money
NYX’s Soft Mattes might work for you as a more budget-friendly alternative; they don’t have that total dry down like your standard liquid lipstick, so they aren’t a flat matte and can be easier to wear (but they’re not ultra hydrating of course).
I think the problem is that you’ll probably get a better result with your standard twist-up lipstick for something that is long-wearing, not fully matte, but still opaque than hunting for a liquid-based formula!
After reading through and looking at the dupe lip swatches, I know MAC Men Love Mystery will be mine. Mainly because I cannot see myself wearing the liquid matte formula in THIS climate, and anything that has too strong of a grayish tone looks terrible on my lips. Although VG Rihanna 2 lipstick oddly works well on me!
Hopefully Men Love Mystery does the trick!
Men Love Mystery is beautiful. I’m a lover of all purple makeup and it’s a special one. I love gray tones on me, but Men Love Mystery is such a refreshing take on light purple that allows people who prefer warmer tones a great option. It’s one of my favorite MAC lipsticks period. Definitely highly recommended if you want a lighter purple option but lean more towards the plummy and African Violet side than the blue-violet or gray-violet side.

About the coolest shades of purple I have been able to not only pull off, but actually feel good in, have been ColourPop Grind and Maybelline Lavender Voltage (dead-on dupe of Heroine, came out as a LE when Heroine wasn’t permanent yet!), both slightly cool, but not grayish.
Definitely great choices! Actually, I used KVD’s Lovesick throughout the day yesterday and it struck me as one you might like. It has a very similar vibe to Men Love Mystery in that it’s a warmer mauve that brightens up the face. Maybe one to consider once you have weather by you that is more liquid lip-friendly.
These are some really cool shades. I’m not going to buy anymore of this formula I don’t think. Liquid lipsticks are just too bothersome for me. I love the look and I think it’s awesome for those who can wear it. I’ll stick with dupes! 🙂

These are the two I grabbed! I’m obsessed with Requiem, though I’m going to have to grab a liner so that I can wear it more easily. I agree with you on Ayesha’s texture being more difficult to work with but being the purple fanatic that I am I still love it and make it work. Can’t wait to go back and grab s few more of the new shades. I’ve finally come to the conclusion that this is, in fact, my first liquid lipstick formula ❤️

I read your review before hesitantly picking up Ayesha tonight — I was too tempted by the unusual colour. I thankfully haven’t had any issues with cracking, though I will concur with your assessment regarding the application. It takes some work to get an even application — two coats gets the job done. That said, I think it’s worth it. I was wearing one of Hourglass’s Opaque Rouge colours earlier in the day — they do have better staying power through eating and drinking, but I’ve grown quite fond of this Kat Von D collection. The range of colours is lovely and the price point for amount of product is great. I’m really enjoying Ayesha and I can see Mother in my future!

These are two of my favorites so far. I’m sorry your tube of Ayesha didn’t work as well for your lips as mine did for me, but it still is such a cool color on you (I know it’s not exactly your favorite kind of purple for personal use still looks great because everything looks great on you). One of the tough aspects of liquid lipsticks is that, to me, every color can work so differently on everyone in within the same formula. Sometimes, a shade that works awesome on another person is cracky on you (general you, of course, myself included in that you). Of course all makeup is highly variable like that, but liquid lipsticks in particular are a bit finicky and really work so differently on everybody. Ayesha doesn’t crack on me or some of the people I’ve tried it on at all, but on others I’ve seen it crack for sure. I love it, but if I had the problems you had with your tube I’d be less excited about it for sure!
Requiem I love. I knew I’d really like it but wasn’t anticipating just how much I’d love it. Definitely a staple color for me from now on. I’ve gotten the chance to try it on a variety of skin tones and it seems to work beautifully on so many people. Probably because of the muted, neutral tone to it. Allows the color to change just enough based on letting undertone show through a bit and really looks great. Requiem is definitely one of the top favs of the new batch for me. Though I did get Lovesick, Santa Sangre, and Witches today. Only gotten to play with Lovesick so far, but it’s almost an MLBB for me (my lips are plummier and darker/slightly less pink, but the mauve aspect brings out the more violet-mauve tones in my lips. That one will be a fav too for sure.

Whenever a KVD shade is not my personal favorite in wear, I always feel good knowing at least I have the awesome color 😉 I just wish your tube went over as well as mine! It does look super rad on you, though. Something about the almost coolness of the shade makes the brown in your eyes truly pop.
Ayesha seemed to apply better if I did it quickly and used a bit more than normal. Some of these newer colors (Echo, Witches, Exorcism, Ayesha…) all seem to apply patchy, and I feel I need to pat the color on, to get it to go fully opaque and look even. The colors are so unusual that I’ll deal with a little finnicky application. Ohh I just bought Ayesha today, as soon as we got it in at my store, I threw it on my lips, I knew I had to have it!!

I fell in love with Ayesha!! I actually found this shade easier to apply than Echo. I wonder if there were different batches or something. Ayesha goes on, for me, very smooth. One thin coat (to perfect my lip line) and then a second not so thin, but not thick coat to fill in. With Echo, I felt I had to put my thin layer on, then pat a thick second layer on to get full opacity! Then wait for it to dry without rubbing my lips together. I love both colors! I’m not a fan of the new formula, though, but I’ll get by 😉

Ayesha is so unique. I really don’t have anything like it either and my purple collection is huge. With two layers I found it was even and didn’t crack on me at all. (Btw you should make a note that your Melt By Starlight is the old formula. It really is like a totally different lipstick now.)

While I am not new to makeup, I am only recently becoming more educated about certain aspects of application and brands; I own requiem and was wondering if you suggest wearing lipliner with this kind of long wearing liquid lip color or not? I was thinking mine might look good with a liner ( I love this color!) and are there any liners you could suggest to me for wearing with requiem?
