MAC Ultramarine Pink Lipstick

MAC Ultramarine Pink Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “mid-tone dirty violet [with a Satin finish].” It’s a brightened, medium-dark berry-magenta with cool, blue undertones and a satin finish. Bite Beauty Framboise (P, $24.00) is brighter. MAC Catharina (P, $23.00) is similar. Urban Decay Ladyflower (LE, $22.00) is lighter. Fyrinnae Sexy Nerd (P, $7.00) is very shimmery. NARS Fanny (P, $32.00) is darker. Illamasqua Glissade (P, $26.00)is lighter, brighter. MAC Flat Out Fabulous (P, $16.00) is more matte. Givenchy Croisiere Fuchsia (309) (LE, $36.00) is lighter. NARS Yu (P, $25.00) is lighter, cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

It had mostly opaque color coverage that went on evenly, while the consistency was lightly creamy and didn’t drag or tug at the lips. It felt a little thinner and clingier overall compared to other Satins. This hugged enough that it felt drying after three hours of wear, though the color lasted for six in total, plus a residual stain that wouldn’t quit. The packaging has a little more heft than the Lipglass did, but there is still a really glaring, plastic component on the interior. I think for the extra $15, it they had done a filigree cage over a gold cap, maybe it would give it that extra oomph for the price increase.

Wow wow wow…… i really really hope this collection launches in India and i get a hand on this awesome color. I am eyeing only this lipstick from this collection. It’s a pretty color, but I feel like it isn’t really unique. Also, I can’t fathom paying $30 for something that’s just a MAC formula at the end of the day – yes, the package is pretty, but worth the $14 more they’re charging for it, at least in my opinion.

Id rather get another nars audacious lipstick than this…yes its not a wow….id rather keep wearing my mac pink pigeon or Mac Embrace lipstick. This packaging is nice but i dont focus on that..its about the color !

Thirty dollars worth? I dunno…it’s another shade that I feel ‘been there, done that’ doesn’t help the over the last year we’ve been flooded with bright pinks. Personally, I’d rather spend it on a NARS Audacious LS or put the money towards a Guerlain Rouge G Lippie, but that’s just me. So far, I’m not feeling much from the collection which is good because it could have been a ridiculously expensive haul & without many swatches to go, a lot of expensive regrets. I would like to get 1 piece from the collx though. Thanks for the review, much appreciated.

At the $30 price point they are going up against some tough competition with what seems like a fairly dupable shade. Given the drying formula and disappointing packaging, I’d rather get something from the NARS Audacious line (or save up and put the money towards an eventual Rouge G purchase).

pretty color but i already own a few similar dupes and for $30 i’d rather splurge on my beloved YSL lippies. i personally find this packaging hideously tacky and cheap looking.

I love this colour, I do have Glissade, and I have Catharina on my wishlist for later, so I’m not going for this. With the extra cost for this LE they’d have to come up with someting really unique, I think.
I’m wiht all who’s mentioned getting a NARS or a Guerlain lipstick instead.
That said, this colour looks good on you.

I really, really love this color! I do have Ladyflower though, so I’m sticking with that. Thirty dollars for a lipstick is on the high side for me.

At least when I bought runaway red n 3N from the pretty in pink collection, I got almost 50% more of the amount for a higher price. They were nice colors too with the unique packaging.
This whole collection is ridiculously priced.

MAC usually suckers me in with the special edition lipstick packaging, but this one is a major miss. I don’t like anything about that tube. The color is nice enough, but I have both Ladyflower and Framboise, so I can live without it.

Oh, I’ve just decided what the tube should have looked like! If it had been the traditional MAC bullet shape but in burnished gold with shiny gold filigree layered over it, I’d have been first in line, even at this ridiculous price point.

The colour is rather nice, but I agree that they kind of tripped over the packaging on this one if they’re going to charge $30. I honestly think they’re testing the waters to see what they can get consumers to pay for a ‘limited edition’ collection that doesn’t offer anything startling or new in terms of the actual product. (LOL, just saw Fancie had the same thought!) 😛

I told people this would happen too. People paying hundreds of dollars on eBay for LE MAC, MAC said “If they’re gonna pay that much for it let it be to us!!!”
