Too Faced La Creme Lip Balm Review, Photos, Swatches (Part 1)
Too Faced Like Buttah La Creme Lip Balm
Too Faced La Creme Lip Balm ($22.00 for TBA oz.) is supposed to hydrate lips so they appear plumper and smoother with a “delicious sweet citrus scent.” It comes in six shades (a second review is coming for the other three shades) and five of the six are “juicy tints of color,” while one is clear. The formula has some slip, but it seems less slippery/emollient–less “melty”–than the La Creme Lipstick formula, pehraps because this has a thinner feel overall. All of them give a light natural sheen to lips, and though they’re supposed to be tinted, just about all of them look nearly the same on lips. I have somewhat pigmented lips, but they’re not super pigmented–warmer shades make my lips look a wee bit warmer, cooler shades make them look a bit pinker/darker. I wouldn’t recommend purchasing them for their tinting abilities. On me, the formula is somewhat moisturizing; less so than my favorite lip balms, but the formula is thin enough that it doesn’t stay on for long. I get about an hour to two hours of wear, and then I feel like I have to reapply. The colored ones seemed to accentuate the texture of my lips–it seemed to catch on imperfections I didn’t even know I had. These seemed comparable to Bite Beauty’s BB for Lips. Since these three all look virtually colorless applied, I would rather opt for an ultra-hydrating lip balm than a so-so lip balm with no color or pick up one of their La Creme Lipsticks for greater hydrating and actual color.
Too Faced Like Buttah La Creme Lip Balm ($22.00 for TBA oz.) is the clear, colorless shade (as in, intentionally left clear!). It is less glossy than a more liquid-like lip balm, but it is also thinner. The consistency is lightly creamy, lightweight, and applies easily over the lips. It lasts an hour and a half on me.
Too Faced Hunny Bunny La Creme Lip Balm ($22.00 for TBA oz.) is a sheer, peachy-beige. On my lips, it adds warmth and darkens my natural lip color just slightly with a smidgen of shine. It lasts an hour and a half on me.
Bite Beauty Flush (P, $24.00) is slightly more pigmented. MAC Taste of Paradise (LE) is glossier. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Too Faced Peachykeen La Creme Lip Balm ($22.00 for TBA oz.) is a sheer peach. The major difference between this and Hunny Bunny is the undertone; this doesn’t have any beige in it, so it looks peachier–like a mix of orange and pink. It lasts an hour and a half on me.
Bite Beauty Flush (P, $24.00) is similar. MAC Taste of Paradise (LE) is glossier. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

These are very lightly pigmented! The bullets are so pretty in the tube, wish it had better pay off!
I’d like at least a tint!
I wish these had more color and performed better. At least there are a lot of different options out there, and at lower price points.
Very true!
I tore my room and gym bag and purse apart last night looking for my Jack Black lip balm and never found it :'( so I’d basically kill a man for one of these lip balms right now
Jack Black is so much better!
Well, they all look the same 🙂 Too bad they’re not very moisturizing. When I wear lip balm I wear it to hydrate my lips.
Ridiculously the same, lol!
The new Loreal Balms are super pigmented! And they hydrate too. Less than half the price.
Christine, you have such a pretty natural lip color you make these look amazing! And that I mean as a compliment. I like sheer formulas but too sheer can happen….
Thanks for sharing Megan! 😀
The packaging is so cute! I wish it was comparable to Jack Black though. I’d snap it up in s second!
If only! 🙁
In the battle of the new, incredibly expensive (for a lip balm), not-very-tinted lip balms, I think Benefit still comes out on top. At least they had some colour! For that much money, with that little pigment, your lip balm better be *phenomenal*. I hope they reformulate these with a bit more colour in them – more like Clinique Chubby Stick levels of colour and balminess, maybe!
Haven’t tried Benefit’s but good to know they are better (at least in terms of tint!).
I’m always surprised when I see subpar products because it makes me wonder how they left the brand’s offices in the first place. I absolutely love Stiletto Red, which is a blue based red on me, and I’d rather buy another La Creme lipstick for this price.
I was surprised they weren’t more hydrating, since the La Creme lipstick is so nice!
I was really looking forward to these! It’s really too bad that these didn’t perform so well.
It was a bummer!
I am so passing on these. I am not ever going to spend this much on a lip balm. I’ll spend $7.50 for the best = Jack Black.
LOL! This is how I feel most of the time.
Too bad these aren’t better! Too Faced has been upping their game so I’m surprised these are under performing!
I wish they were more like described! 🙁
Not too impressed by these. I find most tinted lip balms are not tinted enough. Surprisingly, one of my best pigmented tinited lip balms is my Nivea lip care pearl and shine, which is a muted pink with a sheen.
Sounds like a product I have to try!
The pink packaging is so cute! Hopefully the others perform better and more pigmented so I can actually justify picking ONE up.
If they were at least hydrating, they might be interesting, but they’re so weak compared to many other lip balms!
Wow..these have to be some of the sheerest lip “colours” I have ever seen!! I could buy a stick of chapstick and call it a day:)
Definitely not enough to amount to a tint!
These all look clear. Someone forgot to add the pigment. I couldn’t pay money for these… that is just a sad excuse for lip color. Also, if you’re going to make a clear balm then it needs to be cheaper and be special. No one wants to pay a high price for plain lip balm.
At the very least, it has to function as a top notch lip balm. If you release 6, and one is designed to be clear, then the other 5 should really be tinted! Otherwise, just release one!
The shades are way too sheer.. not even a tint on list .. just like a clear balm but they have pretty packaging.. 🙂
Yep! So sheer!!
