MAC Studio Nail Lacquers — Delicate, Quiet Time, Coffee Break, Nocturnelle

MAC Delicate Nail Lacquer ($12.00 for 0.34 fl. oz.) is described as a “pale sheer ballet pink [with a Cream finish].” It’s a sheer, light pink with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. Despite the new formula and brush applicator, this shade still applied streakily. The consistency was thicker and didn’t seem to be quite as uneven once applied as it self-leveled to a degree, it didn’t have a great end result. Zoya Rue (P, $9.00) is opaque, darker. MAC Confectionary (LE, $16.00) is more pigmented. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

MAC Quiet Time Nail Lacquer ($12.00 for 0.34 fl. oz.) is described as a “beige nude [with a Cream finish].” It’s a light-medium, gray-beige with subtle neutral undertones and a cream finish. It was fully opaque after two coats of polish, and the consistency leaned slightly thick, but it didn’t show up in the application. It applied well without streaking or pooling along the edges. YSL Beige Gallerie (39) (LE, $25.00) is darker. MAC Sandpiper (LE, $16.00) is sheerer, lighter. Chanel Frenzy (P, $27.00) is darker, grayer. Zoya Farah (P, $9.00) is similar. Zoya Cho (P, $9.00) is lighter. Essie Sand Tropez (LE, $8.00) is grayer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

MAC Coffee Break Nail Lacquer ($12.00 for 0.34 fl. oz.) is described as a “midtone cool taupe [with a Cream finish].” It’s a medium-dark, neutral taupe brown with a cream finish. The polish had full color coverage after two coats were applied, though it nearly opaque in a single coat. The texture leaned slightly thick, but I didn’t find it to be a problem during application, as the color didn’t pool along the edges or bubble. MAC Triumphant (LE, $16.00) is warmer. Essie Hot Coco (LE, $8.00) is darker, redder in tone. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

MAC Nocturnelle Nail Lacquer ($12.00 for 0.34 fl. oz.) is described as a “rich true black [with a Cream finish].” It’s a rich, medium-dark black with a cream finish. It was almost opaque in a single coat, though I applied two to be sure. The consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin, so two coats does give it a glossier, plusher look once it dries down. There’s a natural shine to the dry down as well. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I actually quite like the crelly-ish translucency of Delicate (although that finish always comes with application trickiness), but the juiciness of Nocturnelle despite its opacity is great too!

I wonder if Chanel Particuliere is a dupe for Coffee Break, or if it’s too grey-toned…(I don’t own it because those colours look amazingly ghastly on my skintone, but it’s what sprang to mind when I saw the photos of Coffee Break!)

I don’t have one – seriously, I have no regimen. I am lucky if I remember to use hand cream, period! I stash hand cream all around the house, but I’m still exceptionally bad at remembering to use it. Usually before I take a bunch of nail swatches, I’ll apply hand cream (Jack Black Hand Healer) about an hour before, if I can remember, lol!
