MAC Bred for Beauty Blush Review, Photos, Swatches
MAC Bred for Beauty Blush
MAC Bred for Beauty Blush ($21.00 for 0.17 oz.) is described as a “mid-tone blue pink.” It’s a brightened, medium fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a matte finish. MAC Peaches & Cream (LE, $21.00) is warmer. Milani Love Potion (07) (LE, $7.99) is slightly brighter. Clinique Plum Pop (04) (P, $21.00) is more shimmery, lighter. Clinique Berry Pop (03) (P, $21.00) is more shimmery, darker. NARS Coeur Battant (LE, $29.00) is cooler-toned, brighter. Tom Ford Beauty Narcissist (LE, $55.00) is brighter, more shimmery, cooler-toned. NARS Mata Hari (P, $29.00) is warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
The texture of the blush was mostly soft, but it was also thin and somewhat powdery, which made it harder to apply to bare skin (the drier your skin, the harder it will be to apply), as it didn’t want to adhere to the skin. If you typically wear liquid or cream foundation, the slight dewiness of the foundation will help the blush to stick to the skin better. It’s not the most blendable blush, but I didn’t feel like it was impossible to blend. Even though it’s not quite intensely pigmented (because it doesn’t stick), the color can be packed on if desired. Once applied, the color wore well for eight hours before slightly fading.

Looks a bit like Dollymix as well?
Dollymix is darker, less bright, and shimmery!
I have plum pop and it doesn’t swatch as patchy as this. I do think it looks pretty on your cheeks though.
Yeah, this one takes a little extra blending and buffing, which is less than ideal normally, and with a brighter shade like this, even less ideal.
It’s probably a bit too cool for me, but regardless of that it’s a gorgeous blush!
The color is nice!
Loved the shade! I think no matter how many similar shades I have I tend to gravitate towards such shades. I have almost all the dupes listed too 😉
Sounds like you are covered 😉
Same here… I always come come with similar shades. We know what we like
Love it! I looks beautiful on you Christine.
Thanks, Lizzi!
How does this compare to Whole Lotta Love from the Office Hours collection from Fall 2012?
Hi Sufya,
Whole Lotta Love is a lot less blue-based — it almost looks warm! http://www.temptalia.com/submit-dupe?sbs=1&pid=167411&dupe=108996
Aw, poo. I have very dry skin so this probably wouldn’t be best for me.
If you wear foundation, might not be too bad, but over bare skin, I would definitely pass!
Mac keep releasing collection after collection and nothing new. There is nothing special about this blush, you can get something like that at any drug store, without the high end price. I’d rather they have less collections with better quality and new products. Sometimes they have a lipstick release in many collections with different formula and other name, but everything has become so easy to dupe, come on MAC.
Thank you Christine for keeping us informed.
Unfortunately, this one wasn’t a hit!
It looks beautiful on you Christine! The color reminds me of Tarte’s Natural Beauty blush.. sad that this one’s powdery could have been an amazing blush!
Thanks a lot, Divya!
this is a nice color… but have never used bright cheek colors .. need to include one atleast in stash..
i think MAC has reduced the amount of their blushes. previously they were dealing for 6g worth of 22$…
So this one is an interesting situation, because it says “beauty powder blush,” which isn’t quite the same product as their regular blush. However, mine is a press sample so it’s possible that’s not accurate, because the press release would normally call that difference out.
I love this shade. So perfect for summer!
Yay!
Looks lovely on you Christine. Would this be similar to MAC’s Dollymix – I have that one and it looks similar.
Dollymix is darker and more shimmery!
Wow, I really like this colour! I was actually considering purchasing Dollymix, but I’m going to have to compare the two and see which one I prefer.
Dollymix definitely applies better!
I love how sheer this looks! Adds the perfect flush! <3
The color is nice – just wish it was more blendable!
The blush is a bit too bright for me, but I LOVE that eyeshadow look in the last pic! 😀
Thank you, Diane! 🙂
Uh oh, dry skin warning. Looks like this will be a special foundation occasion blush. 🙁
If I didn’t have Rosacea I’d be all over that.
I love the shade, but I like my blushes to be easy to blend out, so I’ll pass on this. Might try one of the Clinique ones. Or not, I have enough blushes, but when did that stop me. Either way, I like the colour oin you.
The color is very pretty on you! It is dupable but I still like it. I’m glad I have NARS Coeur Battant or I’d be tempted to get this lol.
I was interested in this because I love this sort of shade…which probably explains why I’ve got 2 of the dupes and most likely a few others that are awfully similar as well, so much as it’s lovely, I will pass on this one.
This is probably too bright of a blue pink for me being so pale but it looks gorgeous on you! And thank god I can pass on this because my blush drawer can barely close now…
Is this anything like Coygirl? I’m still hoping for a dupe. *sigh*
It looks nice on you. I’m loving the eye makeup too! Blooming Mad and Artistic License are calling my name 🙂
I’m a self confessed blush a holic, I admit it! But this has to come home with me, I loved Sharons Peaches and Cream but was turned off by the packaging (Yes, I know I am ridiculous!) but a cooler version? YES PLEASE!
Well you just saved me some money lol. I have like 5 of the dupes so I will skip. I’m sitting here just adding stuff to my cart and I said let me look on here and check first! Lol. Looks good on you 🙂
Happy to help 😉
Hi Christine,
Despite this looks very interesting, I’ll pass and take Peaches and cream instead which seems to have a better rating from your reviews. For the moment I’ll concentrate on clinique’s pop blushes..
<3 the Clinique blushes!
Hello Lovely!! Could you tell me how Bred for Beauty compares to Kat Von D’s Por Vida? Thank you!!
Sorry, I don’t think I have that!
