MAC Moody Blooms Fluidlines Reviews, Photos, Swatches
MAC Moody Blooms Fluidlines
There are three shades of MAC Fluidline ($16.00 for 0.10 oz.) that will be releasing in the Moody Blooms collection. Two of them were under-performing, unfortunately! Copperthorn was quite mesmerizing applied, so I think the sheerness can “work” in that sense, but it’s not pigmented as Fluidlines are supposed to be (without a modifier in the description, then it falls short).
Black Ivy is described as a “blackened green.” It’s a dark, bluish-teal with very fine teal micro-shimmer over a semi-matte base. It had fairly good color payoff, and the consistency was creamy, lightweight, and easy to apply along the lash line. It wore well for ten hours on my lower lash line without fading or smudging. Revlon Emerald (P) is lighter, brighter. Tom Ford Beauty Exotic Teal (LE, $35.00) is slightly richer. Urban Decay Invasion (P, $19.00) is darker. MAC Midnight Blues (LE, $16.00) is slightly brighter. Estee Lauder Dramatic Teal (LE, $22.00) is bluer. bareMinerals 1PM (LE, $15.00) is a touch bluer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Copperthorn is described as a “glittery bronze.” It’s a glittery, medium copper with flecks of copper and gold sparkle and micro-glitter. It had semi-sheer color payoff, and to build color payoff, you really had to allow the first layer to totally dry down. It’s an interesting and fun shade to use (I tried it on the inner third of the lower lash line), but there is a lot of fall out/migration. After eight hours, I had glittery bits all along my under eye area, unfortunately. MAC Cockiness (LE) is a liquid. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Nightshade is described as a “blackened plum.” It’s a medium-dark plummy purple with an almost golden, pearly sheen. It had warmer undertones and a soft sheen. The color payoff, unfortunately, was pretty poor. The left part of the swatch is the product applied with an angled brush as if to mimic applying a single stroke across the lash line, and it just doesn’t seem to apply smoothly or evenly. This is usually an issue I see with the more glittery shades (like with Copperthorn) with the Fluidline formula, so I was disappointed by this one. On the upside, this shade wore well for ten hours. Tarina Tarantino Ultraviolet (P, $15.00) is darker. Urban Decay Blackheart (P, $19.00) is darker. MAC Strong Willed (P, $20.00) is slightly darker. Urban Decay Rockstar (P, $19.00) is darker. bareMinerals 6AM (LE, $15.00) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

sigh..they are all so potentially gorgeous..very very sad about the copper, but I will stick to my Chanel stylo which is not at all problematic and does not have any migration issues.
I may try to grab the teal. I actually do not have a gel based liner in teal…so need!
I could deal with the sheerness (I think it would be nicer with more underlying pigmentation, but it is very metallic and sparkly, so, you know, pretty!) to a degree, but the migration, no thank you!
Black Ivy looks like such a gorgeous shade! I have to have it
Enjoy, Luiza!
Oooh I love the look you’ve done, it really catches the essence of the collection i think.
Thanks, Carly!
black ivy! I like the way how all the e/s have come together in that eye look! 🙂
Thanks a lot, Vineetha!
Black Ivy is freakin’ gorgeous :-O Nightshade looks disappointing though, bummer.
Nightshade was a surprising dud!
I was really interested in Nightshade until I saw its performance. It seems as though MAC still hasn’t perfected fluidline in regard to some shades/finishes. Oh well, maybe one day soon! 🙂
It’s weird — I didn’t think it would have any issues at all! Fluidline is such a great formula, but occasionally, there are issues. I expected Copperthorn to be problematic, but Nightshade was a surprise.
Def will be wetting black ivy. The rest are a pass.
Enjoy! 🙂
Black Ivy is gorgeous!
It is!
Is Copperthorn contacts safe?
Fluidlines are eyeliners, so they are safe for the eyes, but I don’t know about water line safety. Copperthorn has glitter, and I had fall out with it (I used it on my lower lash line, so it went below there, not into my eye).
Wow Nightshade is just shamefully bad!
So sad!
I am SO happy that Blue Ivy, the only one I cared about, has a good grade.
Thank goodness!
FINALLY a swatch of Black Ivy I’ve been hunting for months to see this one. I NEED this one. 😉
I think Copperthorn would make a great eye glitter but as a liner it would be frustration. I’m generally not a fan of these glittery Fluidline’s MAC put out.
They’re usually quite chunky! I like the sparkle factor, but I don’t like the fall out/migration.
The black-blue-green in Black Ivy is so interesting! Love that eye look!
Thanks, Divya! 🙂
I’m great that BlackIvy is not sheer as another colors, love that gold glittery of Copperthorn but it look too sheer for me 🙁
Copperthorn would be so gorgeous without the fall out!
I had really high hopes for Nightshade, wow. Looks like it’s just Black Ivy for me.
I was incredibly surprised at how sad Nightshade looked!
I really wanted to like Nightshade. I’m loving the complexity and the even-ness of the Black Ivy but I’d probably buy the UD dupe if I was looking for a shade like that.
UD’s might be easier to use, too.
Hi Christine! Thanks for such a speedy review! How does Black Ivy compare to Make up Geek’s gel liner in Fame?
Sorry, I don’t have that!
And Nightshade looked so promising 🙁
Black Ivy looks very interesting and good, though.
I know 🙁 I don’t know what happened!
Ooh! Loving the look of Black Ivy! I don’t think I own a single teal liner 😮
WHAT.
I wonder if Black Ivy is a dupe for Mac Tealo e/l – what do you think?
Thanks!
I am really glad you said it’s a dupe for UD invasion.. i had been wanting that color, but this f/l is MUCH easier for me to apply!
I think it’s a bit darker, actually!
Can anyone comment on how Nightshade compares to Macroviolet? They look similar, but it’s hard to tell!
Macroviolet is darker, not quite as warm-toned!
