MAC Barbados Girl Lustre Drops Review, Photos, & Swatches
MAC Barbados Girl Lustre Drops
MAC Barbados Girl Lustre Drops ($20.00 for 0.60 fl. oz.) is described as a “rose gold bronzer.” It is a warm-toned, coppery bronze with a frosted shimmer-sheen. Blended out, it will add a coppery warmth to the skin along with flecks of golden copper shimmer and sparkle. Illamasqua Supernatural is slightly warmer/darker but still similar–it is a cream formula, so it is also more similar than a powder product would be. MAC Sun Rush is lighter, more golden, less coppery. See comparison swatches.
The texture is thinner than lotion, thicker than water; and it sheers out easily and quickly. The consistency makes it work well mixed with moisturizer or liquid/cream foundation. It can also be patted onto the skin with fingertips, sponge, or brush. To test the wear, I patted it along the top of my cheek bone with my fingertip and then lightly blended it with a fan brush. It did emphasize my pores slightly; enough to be noticeable but not so much that I felt self-conscious.  The wear with Lustre Drops does depend on how they’re used, as mixing with foundation or moisturizer makes it harder to tell when it “stops” wearing well (since everything is so mixed together, it seems to wear as long as the foundation would).  In the past, when used as a cheek highlighter or color, they’ve worn between eight and nine hours.  I’m wearing Barbados Girl today, so I’ll check in when I’ve wrapped up testing (so far so good).
The RiRi Hearts MAC summer collection will launch June 18th at noon EST exclusively online for North America; June 20th exclusively online for international.

Ok…now it’s official. I’ll be trying to get these with the 2 lippies I’m getting! Then I’m official done with this collection…not interested in the stuff later this year
Ooo, this might be on my wishlist! The rose gold colour is so pretty. I just hope it doesn’t sell out too fast.
OoOh!! I really like the look of the lustre drops!!
I definitely want to try a liquid highlighter!
Christine, is it more shimmery or frosty, say compared to a Extra Dimension skinfinish (metallic)?
Oh, definitely not as shimmery/metallic!
thank you!
its cute but i just got the golden elixir strobe lotion :/
So did I. Christine, any comparisons?
Golden Elixir is more golden, less copper, more yellow-based.
Hi, I love it but it’s hard to get the limited edition items here in Manila. I hope I can get the lippies…Thanks for the reviews. I love what you do.
Thanks, Hazel! I hope you can snag ’em!
What foundation are you wearing? =)
I believe this is Giorgio Armani Maestro!
I think this is a lovely product and it would look amazing on medium and darker skintones. I would stipple it on over the high planes of the face. Such a sucker for products like this. They just give you that bit extra glow.
Hi Christine do you believe Barbados girl would show up on med-dark skin? Ive been on the hunt for a bronzy glow! for reference Iam an NC44 and I wear the MSF natural in med-deep. Thank you
It will be glowy/shimmery, but I don’t think it will add a lot of color!
I really like the Lustre Drops, but I’m sure this shade would be too dark for me.
Can you recommend this for pale skins? (I’m NW15)
I think so – it is very sheer!
Christine, do you think this will look good in NC30 skin tone? I can’t seem to distinguish if it’s any similar to Sun Rush.
I don’t see why not! I compared it to Sun Rush in the post, FYI!
What a lovely bronzer! But I guess it’s too orange for lighter skin types ):
This is lovely on you 🙂
Thanks, Phyrra!
How does this compare to Golden Elixir?
Golden Elixir is less coppery, not as warm!
