23 x Urban Decay Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette Look Ideas
Urban Decay Born to Run 21-Pan Eyeshadow Palette ($49.00 for 0.42 oz.) is a solid mix of neutrals and color with a deeper, more autumnal-vibe than traditional summer offerings. For long-time fans, there are plenty of shades in the palette reminiscent from past releases, but for those who haven’t indulged in lots of Urban Decay, it’s a beautiful palette that’s high-quality, easy to use, and versatile. It leaned slightly more shimmery, but there were enough mattes and near-mattes that I didn’t struggle to create looks with the palette.
About This Series
Each look idea is centered around a “quad” of four shades with the expectation that one might bring in the appropriate brow bone or additional transitional shade based on skin tone. I know that I tend to use more like five or six shades in a typical look, but I think that four is a happy medium to give a good idea of the “core” color scheme of a look while giving you the ability to lighten/darken as desired. I have listed the colors in this order: inner lid, middle of lid, outer lid/crease, and crease/above crease.
You might see combinations that seem slightly repeated but placement will vary (e.g. a halo placement where the lightest and more shimmery shade is placed on the center) as placement can also create a different effect/look! You might also want to heading=”Born to Run .0″ sub_heading=”Urban Decay Palette” incorporating your favorite matte/shimmer shades (as applicable) to increase the versatility of certain palettes. heading=”Born to Run .0″ sub_heading=”Urban Decay Palette” these ideas a jumping off point!

I love this series. I’ve been playing with this palette since I got it last Friday. I going to give these a try. I especially like the first look you have.
The pro to this feature is the wonderful combos that you suggest. The con is that it showcases the versatility, esp of larger palettes, and makes us want them more, lol! Although unintended, this is a real service to the brands. So many people look at large palettes and thing, mish-mash, I’m overwhelmed. When they see what they can do, they are goners!
Absolutely what you said, kjh! It’s one of the reason I like those new Smashbox trios – no need to think to hard at 6 am! I’m torn with this palette though as there’s at least 1/3 of the palette that are shades I avoid (partly personal taste and partly not wanting to look like I’m got a skin reaction). Still, I may eventually crack and buy this because a few of the shades are SO gorgeous and I don’t have dupes for them (especially Radio and Big Sky).
These are fabulous combinations which will help those who have purchased the palette create the kind of eye looks they love. Thank you Christine.
These combinations look beautiful Christine. Makes me want to run out & purchase this. I donβt have ANYTHING Urban Decay. Not even their very 1st Naked palette.
I love, love, love this addition to the blog, Christine. My daughter and I have been considering this palette as one of only two we are going to bring with us to Europe in the fall. It immediately felt more fall like to me so that was a plus. Between the two of us we have a lot of UD palettes and a couple of doubles. She has all of the Naked Palettes and I have Naked 2 and Naked Heat. We both have Spectrum palettes and others that I can’t remember. The advantage to this palette is that we both can get looks that work for us despite our very different shades, undertones and ages. I am waiting for the official reviews to come in but looks like you like it overall. Now we just need to decide on the second palette. She is pushing for KVD Shade and Light. I am not convinced yet!!
I can’t say enough good things about this new series you have! It’s so incredibly helpful to see palettes broken down like this. I agree with a previous commenter – this makes it much easier to justify buying a palette when you can see how versatile it can be! Thank you for your hard work!
Great combos! I’m going to try some out with similar colors in my stash.
Thank you for the post! I just ordered this but was looking for ideas since I wasn’t sure how to match up the colors. Your ideas are fabulous!
I really didnβt want to want this palette ?
I just wanted to say THANK YOU for creating all the different ways to get looks from a palette. This helps me (and by reading the comments so many of us) figure out what will work best while staring at our open palettes!!
My pleasure, Hollie! π
Dude. Literally searched on Pinterest for Born to Run palette looks because I just got it and you are amazing!!! These are gorgeous, canβt wait to try them out!
Thank you very much for your inspiration, Christine! I own this palette for a while and will try some suggestions. I admit that I’m disappointed about the colour blaze and breakaway. They do not really beam and I need Highlighters from another palette. A silver shade is also missing for the blue and green shades. However, its a nice palette, but for real I expected a little bit more.
