10 Floral-Inspired Pat McGrath Blitz Astral Quads I Wish Existed
Last night, readers were chatting in Temptalia’s Discord about what Pat McGrath’s upcoming launch (revealed here–a rose-inspired six-pan palette) could be (she’s been teasing inspiration photos for the last few days). A lot of the inspiration photos have revolved around flowers (though a lot of roses!), and it made me think about more floral-inspired palettes from the brand. I was thinking that more Blitz Astral quads would be in order, since I think those work well to extend one’s collection (or the brand’s existing palette line-up) — here are my concepts!
Plumed Paradise
This quad is inspired by the bird of paradise (reference photo)! Here are color descriptions, followed by a suggestion of real products that exist (not necessarily by the brand)…
- Inky, bluish-purple with cool undertones and a satin-to-pearl sheen (more pearlescent when applied wet)
- Fiery orange-red base with gold-to-green shifting sparkle over a metallic finish (think VR Fire Opal with a deeper, redder base)
- Medium-dark, muted teal with subtle, cool undertones and a metallic finish
- Vivid copper-red with redder tones and a satin-to-pearl sheen (more pearlescent when applied wet)

Hedonistic Hydrangea
This quad is inspired by blue hydrangeas (reference photo)! Here are color descriptions, followed by a suggestion of real products that exist (not necessarily by the brand)…
- Light-medium, sky blue with finer, gold pearl over a lightly metallic finish–almost like a creamy, smooth metallic
- Pale, golden chartreuse with flecks of cooler, mint-to-teal shifting pearl over a metallic finish
- Medium-dark periwinkle with cool, bluish-silver shimmer with a metallic finish
- Faded cornflower blue with cooler undertones and a smooth, pearly sheen

Dahlia Decadence
This quad is inspired by dahlias (reference photos), which come in a lot of varieties from pops of pink and orange to black dahlias, which are almost velvety, deep red! Here are color descriptions, followed by a suggestion of real products that exist (not necessarily by the brand)…
- Light-medium orange with moderate, warm undertones and smooth sheen
- Vivid, deep pink base (slightly cooler compared to the shimmer) with sparkling, peach and gold throughout
- Softened purple with warmer, pink undertones and a metallic finish
- Deep, pink-red with a smooth, metallic sheen

Pervasive Poppy
This quad is inspired by gray poppies (reference photo), which have a more toned-down, cooler mix of grayish purple, lavender, and faded, blackened purple. Here are color descriptions, followed by a suggestion of real products that exist (not necessarily by the brand)…
- Light-medium, bluish-lavender with fine, gold contrasting pearl over a satin-to-pearl finish
- Light, pinky-lavender base with flecks of gold-to-green shifting sparkle
- Muted, medium purple with neutral-to-cool undertones, almost a silvery, metallic sheen
- Blackened purple with neutral-to-cool undertones and a smooth sheen

Iris Insolence
This quad is inspired by irises (reference photos), which seem to be most prevalent in shades of purple! They have yellower centers, but I thought I’d focus on the petal tones. Here are color descriptions, followed by a suggestion of real products that exist (not necessarily by the brand)…
- Soft pink with slight, warm undertones and a satin-to-pearl sheen
- Brighter, medium lavender base with lighter pink and gold sparkle
- Vibrant, pink-purple with blue-to-violet shift paired with metallic finish
- Deep, blue-violet with cool undertones and a satin-to-pearl sheen

Magnificent Marigold
This quad is inspired by marigolds (reference photos)! Here are color descriptions, followed by a suggestion of real products that exist (not necessarily by the brand)…
- Neon, pearlescent orange with moderate, warm undertones and a smooth sheen
- Bright, sparkling sunshine yellow with strong, warm undertones and twinkling teal pearl
- Vivid red with warm undertones and violet pearl over a metallic finish
- Intense, blackened copper with fiery, warm undertones and a smooth sheen

Restricted Rose
This quad is inspired by the brand’s own Divine Rose series… but make it smokier, sultrier (alternatively, you could call it Midnight Rose, which I think fits with the brand’s naming in general, though the quads seem to all have alliteration). Here are color descriptions, followed by a suggestion of real products that exist (not necessarily by the brand)…
- Deep, muted red, subtle berry tones, with a smooth sheen
- Warm lavender base with gold sparkle over a metallic finish
- Blackened purple with gold micro-sparkle throughout a metallic finish
- Medium, rosy plum with subtle, warm undertones and a pearly sheen

Prodigious Peony
This quad is inspired by peonies (reference photos), which I think are commonly associated as shades of white, pale pink (both warmer and cooler), coral, and occasionally, a plummy-pink/deeper pink variety! Here are color descriptions, followed by a suggestion of real products that exist (not necessarily by the brand)…
- Light-medium pink-coral with slightly pinker undertones and teal reflects paired with a pearl finish
- Light, silvery lavender with flecks of silver, pink, and gold micro-sparkle
- Lighter, warm-toned purple with a bright, metallic finish
- Vivid, deep pink with a satin sheen

Sublime Sunflower
This quad is inspired by sunflowers (reference photos), which are obviously known for their bright, yellow petals, deeper, brownish centers and vibrant green leaves/stalks! There are also deeper, more orange-red varieties of sunflowers, too. Here are color descriptions, followed by a suggestion of real products that exist (not necessarily by the brand)…
- Rich, slightly golden yellow with moderate, warm undertones with flecks of teal pearl to contrast over a satin-to-pearl finish
- Deep coral-orange base with sparkling, green-gold shift
- Rusted gold with contrasting copper and red shimmer through a metallic finish
- Vibrant, mid-tone green with moderate, warm undertones and smooth, lightly metallic finish

Tempestuous Tulip
This quad is inspired by tulips (reference photos), which have a large variety of shades, so I went with a mix of peach/coral, purple, and more classic red framed by the green pulled from the stems! Here are color descriptions, followed by a suggestion of real products that exist (not necessarily by the brand)…
- Warmer, light-medium chartreuse green base with cooler, lime green to mint shifting pearl
- Soft, peachy coral base with blue-to-pink shifting pearl
- Muted, medium-dark purple with warmer, pink tones paired with a satin-to-pearl finish
- Deep, pink-red with a smooth, metallic sheen

Big yes to every one of these!!! And I’d never heard of gray poppies before. Beautiful!
When I googled poppy, I saw gray poppies, and I was like… oh, sold. We’ll go there!
Oh, Wow! That’s all. Wow!
So beautiful…they should hire you as a consultant and develop more cool toned options! :o)
Your mock-ups are always to die for!
Thank you, Alison!
The best thing about these is that they don’t all contain a gold! I own too many golds so I’m eagerly waiting for the day a PMG palette appeals to me but doesn’t contain a gold eyeshadow. My favorite is Restricted Rose… I’m going to have to play around to create this color scheme with what I already have. Thanks for creating these Christine!
Happy to share! 🙂 Hope you can recreate Restricted Rose with products you own!
Wow. The poppy and hydrangea ones would be soo beautiful! These are such gorgeous arrangements.
Thank you, Kira!!
I hope Pat is paying attention-these need to happen! I would buy so many of them!
Here’s hoping we see more quads this holiday season at least!
These NEED to be brought into existence! I’m especially feeling Sublime Sunflower, Restricted Rose, Pervasive Poppy, and your original Hedonistic Hydrangea, and I’m not even into blue eyeshadow! These are beyond lovely ?
Thank you, Nancy!
You have such a talent for combining shades. These are really beautiful and I would buy them all !!
Aw, thanks a lot, Deborah! 🙂 That would be hard on the wallet, LOL!
The scary thing is I wouldn’t even hesitate to buy all of these quads in one swoop.
These are all so gorgeous. You have such an eye for color!
Thanks, Lauren! 🙂
I don’t know how you do this!!!! These are stunning! I need to cool off on the Sydney Grace ordering. I have ordered soo much lately. 🙂
All day long I dream about color combos, LOL!!
Oh man … A first glance I thought these were
new releases from Pat McGrath 🙂
Quads are my favorite I like small curated palates.
Beautiful fun. Creations Christine !
I was very afraid when I saw the pic of all 9 ideas. That much PMG was going to cost me a fortune!
Love that you posted equivalents in Sydney Grace. I want to move in that direction.
Glad to help! SG has the most extensive range, I think, that I’ve swatched besides maybe Make Up For Ever (which would get quite pricey for four singles), so it’s easy to pull from that range most of the time!
I love it. Would buy 2,3,6,7 and 10. Really nice
Honestly Christine, you are so talented and creative. PMG should employ you as their creative director…
I like Sublime Sunflower for the sunny outlook. Is it possible for you to do some neutral or olive green quads?
I will try! 🙂
I?m with you on Sublime sunflower, it’s gorgeous and would be in my cart for sure. Also loving Hedonistic Hydrangea!
Plumed Paradise makes me happy because I have all those colors 😀 Pervasive Poppy is so very pretty. That High Society single by ColourPop is stunning too!
Oh my gosh Christine, these are outstanding!!
I especially love the Hydrangea, Poppy, Iris, Peony and Rose!
My future Sydney Grace order is expanding once again, and PMG could learn a lot from you on color combos – especially on including more cool tones and holding the gold. That type of palette would get me to open my wallet for a Mothership palette.
Thank you, Stephanie! I’m hopeful that we’ll see at least one or two fun schemes by the holidays.
Wow. Christine I would buy literally anything you make. Please collab w Mother or make your own!
Aw, thank you, Valerie! 🙂
Goodness, I had heart palpitations seeing these and thinking they were real! These are absolutely stunning. And with your shade names, all I could picture was a very chaotic garden and a lovely bird of paradise sitting in it! Imagine the press photos. Just lovely.
That would be such a gorgeous setting for it!
Stop! Did she call you? Did Mother see these??? They are BEEEAUUUUTYFUL! I’m all in for them! In particular, in order of my favs: PERVASIVE POPPY, HEDONISTIC HYDRANGEA, SUBLIME SUNFLOWER, & IRIS INSOLENCE. I don’t know how I missed this post! Ahhh! Just sublime!
Better late than never 😉
