MAC Surf Baby Lipglasses
MAC Surf Baby: Lipglass
MAC Surf Baby Lipglases ($15.50 for 0.17 oz.) include four shades: Girl on Board (pale white gold), Good Lovin’ (soft peachy pink), Krazy Kahuna (warm mid-tone brown), and Strange Potion (soft coral pink).
- Girl on Board is a semi-opaque white shimmered gloss. I see this working better for layering than on its own, though. It’s similar to Almondine (Spring Colour Forecast, ’10). The closest permanent dupe would probably be Underage, which leans a little pink.
- Good Lovin’ is a sheer, beige-y nude with a little rosiness and beige and champagne shimmer. It seems similar to Prrr.
- Krazy Kahuna is a reddened terracotta with very subtle flecks of white shimmer. It is nearly opaque on my lips. I can’t think of a dupe for this shade in the permanent range.
- Strange Potion is a lightly pink shimmered, soft pinky-coral that’s semi-opaque in coverage. This was originally launched with Venomous Villains (’10). Pink Lemonade would be the closest dupe in the permanent range, but it is pinker.
MAC Lipglasses are vanilla-scented but taste-free. They are sticky glosses (some of the stickiest on the market) with a thicker consistency than your typical gloss, but they do wear a solid four hours on me as a result of the tackier formula. Pigmentation ranges from sheer to opaque, but all three of these shades are more pigmented than the average lipglass–even Girl on Board, which is more shimmer than color, covers my natural lip color a good deal.
Where to Buy: MAC Cosmetics, in-stores on May 26th
The Glossover
Shades like Girl on Board and Strange Potion are really easy to wear across skin tones, though Girl on Board will be more flattering for most when layered than worn alone.

Would girl on board lipglass pair with tanarama lipstick?
I'm so bummed. Good Lovin' is sold out online already! :( But I ordered Strange Potion, can't wait to get it! Hopefully I will get a chance to get it from a store!
Nothing here for me... They alternate collections between terra cotta/ corals/ browns and blue reds/ pinks/plummy. Next time.
I'm gonna have to grab a Good Lovin', Strange Potion and Girl on Board, they're beautiful. BTW Christine, I love your eye makeup here, the teal and white look amazing together!!
I am sooooo excited for Krazy Kahuna!!! I saw a few swatches online where people layered it over Hibiscus, and the combination was amazing!!! So, I have heard a lot of buzz around the internet from people tha thave gotten advanced samples of Surf Baby that Good Lovin smells and tastes a bit "off." Christine, have you found that as well?
That is good to hear b/c I would like to check it out - It looks like it would be a nice sparkly wash over something like Hug Me. That is strange though that many are reporting that it smelled/tasted almost rancid - maybe they just got a cad batch, unfortunately.
The one I got is one I bought, but it seemed fine to me. Definitely didn't notice anything when I tested it!
Hi Christine, I know you've posted about this before but I can't find it.... How often do you exfoliate your lips? I'm trying to get mine in summer shape and I'm tempted to use my lip exfoliator every morning, but I'm not sure if that's too much for delicate lip skin? Thanks!
My favorite sticky glosses are the Luzes Lipglos with DMAE by Racco Cosmetics. They have DMAE to prevent and treat wrinkles. ;)
Do you know that the Lipglass Good lovin' is a dupe to Lipglass Devilishly Stylish from Venomous Villains LE. I have found it here http://swobbeline.blogspot.com/2011/05/mac-lipglass-dupe-good-lovin-surf-baby_11.html
I think the only reason Strange Potion looks different is because you were probably using a different angel/lighting/camera. It's pretty nonetheless!
I thought I would hate Krazy Kahuna but it looks amazing! it looks like a shimmery, glossy viva glam.
I want to try these out they look gorgeous and so pigmented! and the Krazy Kahuna looks so great on you!
how about a lip combo between bust out and Krazy kahuna? do you think that Krazy kahuna it's too opaque? I like to experiment XD
oooh Krazy Kahuna looks like melted chocolate! yum :) wish i could pull off brown lip products :/ strange potion also lovely already got it from VVs though ;)
Strange Potion is actually *completely* different than Strange Potion from VV. The latter was a juicy, jelly raspberry color with no pearl or shimmer, the former is a frosty coral. i have no idea why they would give them the same name!
Strange Potion is definitely shouting "Summer!" to me. And, if my budget allows me, Krazy Kahuna will be added. Not too crazy about Girl on Board. What lipstick would be great to pair with Girl on Board (it doesn't have to be from this collection)?
Anything medium to dark - because then it won't wash out the color to something really light and pale but lighten it to something softer with enough color punch to keep it from being stark. I'd say over a warm coral or yellow-based pink.
I have Girl on Board and i paired it with Creme D'nude Lipstick from mac and it looks absolutely gorgeous
Krazy Kahuna surprised me in the stock photos it looked like a boring brown but when swatched it's quite lovely. I may break down and get it even though I told myself I was going to skip this collection. Now I have to worry about Good Lovin which I'm tempted to get on cute name alone:) I just hope it isn't a dupe of Nymphette which I already own.
I think out of the entire surf baby collection strange potion may be the only thing that I end up purchasing.
Krazy Kahuna is beautiful but is it similar to Temper Tantra from the Peacocky collection? I have that and love it as well...
$1,550 for .17 oz? Talk about a price jump. Tsk tsk mac. (lol just kidding) So far the summer stash stack, strange potion, and gilded white are really catching my eye. Thank god! I was really starting to give up on Mac. I haven't seen anything from them in a few years that has made me want to buy something.
