MAC Highland Honey Blush
MAC My Highland Honey Blush

MAC Tartan Tale: Highland Honey Blush

MAC Highland Honey Blush ($18.50 for 0.21 oz.) is a rich shade of peach-orange with a very subtle satin sheen.  It can be built up for a more intense, more orange-y look or used lightly for a lit-from-within kind of glow.  I love that it’s pigmented without being straight-up orange, but it’s also buildable; you can easily apply it lightly or pat more on for a more intense look.

It’s warmer and more orange than Melba Blush, which is a darker peach with less of an orange pull. It’s not as orange as NARS Gina nor as coral as NARS Gilda. It’s a shade lighter than Illamasqua’s Lover, but the two are similar. It’s also similar to Utterly Game, which leans a little coral but not by much.

Wow...it's so colorful. The main thing is not to overdo, but they very nice i think.

how does this compare to nars gina?

Gina is darker and more pigmented.

i have this and adore it but i'd REALLLY have to built it up in numerous layers to get it to look like it does on you & i have medium-tan skin. this wasnt very pigmented at all

I'm a warm-toned redhead and peachy blushes are the BEST on me - and this is definitely a winner! Pinky-peach blushes are okay if I'm feeling like I want some pink, but if I want a really nice, natural, every day color, peach is my best bet. Oh, My Highland Honey!!! It's actually my favorite blush I've ever tried so far, so after I bought one, I also bought a back up! I love MAC but wish so much of their good stuff wasn't limited edition! Great review! :D Very accurate description of a great blush!

This one is so pretty! I bought it for my mom for her birthday but I will diffenitly borrow it from her!

Hi, I already have ripe peach (ombre blush from SCF) do you think this is a close dupe? I've heard they look very similar when worn so I'm wondering whether I should skip my highland honey..?

I think they're a bit different, but it ultimately depends on how much of the pinker/redder end you get with the peach.

IS THERE A REASON WHY THIS ISN'T SHOWING UP ON ME? IM NC40.COULD IT BE THE BRUSH IM USING? I REALLY LOVE THIS COLOR, PLEASE HELP.

i just bought this blush. LOVE IT SO MUCH.

I totally talked myself out of ordering this blush today as I sorta told myself I was going on a (blush no buy) damnit my principles. Well I ordered a few other things so that will have to suffice. I'm sure something similar will come out again soon. It might be a touch too orange anyway... yeah excuses excuses... guess I have to be happy with peaches... especially since I just got it after coveting it for a long long time like over half a year. It's certainly an exercise in learning to appreciate what one has...

I will probably buy Illamasquas lover as a dupe next month (when i will most likely cave from the no buy)... since I've been wanting to try their blushes for a long time too. Which do you like better?

I just got this today, I love the color!! I wanna get 2 more lol (one as a back up and another as a gift for my sister)

I have light skin and if I apply this lightly (even lighter than you Christine!) it looks pretty nice :)

it would be cute, but u put on wayyyyy 2 much!!!

Please understand that these photos are to show you what the color looks like :)

I thought this blush would be too yellow on my skin. I tried it on my hand first and was pleasantly surprised. Had to buy it!

i have been looking for this color of blush forever!! it looks like just what i wanted. :D

i ordered this one after trying it on at the mac store. if i have this will i need utterly game?

I don't think you need both.

How would you say this compares to Cantaloupe (pro blush)?

A lot lighter, less brown/dirty.

This is pretty, but I think it's close enough to Utterly Game that I can skip it.

How do you think this compares to Nars Sex Appeal blush?

Don't have it to compare, sorry!

Sex Appeal is waaaayyyyy lighter

I actually really really like this! I don't really own any blushes... perhaps it shall be my first!

Pretty! How does this compare to MAC's Buff?

Buff is darker and browner.

Hi Christine, I have a question on this one, is this anything like Fun and Games from the Hello Kitty Collection?

Christine, I have Melba, Peaches, & Utterly Game... should I skip? (I have way too many blushes, BUT I love peach color blushes)

I'm an NW15 girl who already owns Melba and Utterly Game. Is this something I could pass on?

Sorry I don't know the lingo, but by warmer skintones do you mean dark skin ? for example NW45 .

I mean those with yellow undertones :)

It looks like it would be simultaneously bright and chalky =/. I wanted a nuder peach, I love my NARS Gina, but I doubt this would work for a NW43. I'll have to wait for NARS Passion to make a reappearance.

Looove this. I've been wanting NARS Gina or Gilda for a while now but I think this may replace them!

This looks soooooo orange! An easy pass...

I was into the palettes at first, but now I'm in love with the blushes. Thank You Christine!!!!!

how do you think this will look on nc50 skin...thanks?

of the two blushes....which one do you think would look best on nc50 skin...for like every day wear and club hopping.

It might be a lil' ashy, because it has this powdery look and feel.

I love Peaches so I think I will looove this. I'm very fair but my pink undertones don't show when I put my makeup on, so peachy/orange blush is very fun and looks nice with a nude/peach lip.

Would this color be okay for nw45 skintone? It's a nice color, but I wanna b e able to use. :)

I think it could work.
