Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

The kits are available online, but I will not be reviewing them, at $50 is too steep to purchase permanent/repromoted products just for photos (swatches of the products are already on the blog). The sets aren’t released until the 4th.

Venomous Villains was the ONLY one that she didnt pay for it , and even with that collection she bought somethings for herself. Thats the great thing about this blog , she pays for the addiction herself.

I’ve been buying full collections since Dame Edna (I think that was the end of 2008?). I believe 4-5 collections have been sent via samples since that time, but generally speaking, I purchase them.

The reason I do this is so you can have true, accurate photos of the products themselves in a controlled setting, but also because it allows me to actually try the products – including lip swatches!

That is really amazing, I check temptalia for so long now, but never had the time to actually read the comments and about the blog, but now that I do, I admire you even more! Thanks so much, very helpful for us in the UK and also some friends I got in Brazil 🙂

They sets not out yet.

I am not swatching any of the mineralize kits as they are just permanent or repromoted products, so you can find swatches of those products on the blog already 🙂

Are you going to review any of the mineralize kits? I know it’s mostly permanent and repromoted items in them but I think some of the lipglasses are new. Your reviews for everything else have been super helpful and those are the only items I’m still undecided about?

Just can’t justify $49.50 x2 on products that are repromotes/permanent items. I believe the only new item is Blessedly Rich, and the other kit isn’t available online (no idea why!).

Thank you so much for all these reviews! Now I know that I only interested in Vain & Glorious set, one pigment and Black Swan eyeliner. Your blog is the best!

Without – I don’t swatch anything with a primer (unless otherwise indicated – e.g. testing out a new primer!), because I believe that we have to evaluate the product on its own, not with the assistance of a good base 🙂

I purchased the (2) blushes and the “undercurrent” eyeliner this morning. I jumped on the blushes because I know the peach is gonna sell out first! =)

Thanks so much for all you do!! I don’t usually go crazy over MAC collections but I really got into a couple items from A Tartan Tale based on your swatches and reviews. Over lunch today I went and bought The Faerie Glen lipstick and the Hark The Heraldry face kit. Yiippeee!!

Thanks you soo much for you’re reviews! Definitely saved me money 😛
I went by MAC this morning and picked up just the eye brush kit, mostly just for the bag!
Decided to skip on most of the palette…

you have definitely convinced me that I can pass on this collection , other than maybe the blushes and a pearlglide eyeliner ( the turquoise one -so pretty)

I made a trip to my MAC today to pick up the 3 pigments I had on hold. One of the palettes was already sold out, and they said they weren’t getting anymore in! How are they going to have anything left for Christmas time? And the odd thing was… they had plenty of the sold out products from Venomous Villains! I was able to pick up Briar Rose, Wicked Ways, Bite of an Apple and Innocence, Beware! I was very happy so just had to tell my little story. You could maybe tweet to your followers that a bunch of items are still available at the store in St. Louis!

Anyway, thanks for all your hard work, Christine. I will be looking forward to the next batch of Tartan Tale. 🙂

Just came across your site and def one of the best I’ve ever seen by far! You’ve put alot of work into it and def know your stuff so seriously well done and thank you! Amazing! 🙂
