The Sultry Season: MAC Dark Side Lipstick
MAC Dark Side Lipstick ($14.50 for 0.10 oz.) is a deep cool-toned burgundy-tinged red with an amplified creme finish. It’s completely opaque with a very creamy texture. I love the way it applies–even, smooth–and it wears so well. I usually get three to four hours with a lot of MAC lipsticks, but with such an intense, opaque shade, I can easily get four to five, and a subtle stain will remain for another hour as it fades away.
Is this the right red for you? Would you wear it?
The Sultry Season is a series of posts featuring deep, rich shades of brown, berry, plum, and wine lipsticks and lipglosses — just right for autumn — that runs through October 2010.

Hi, I am not from USA, but your mac lipstick reviews help me get my mac lippies and I am always amazed! Just wanted to ask you how would you compare dark side, hang up and media cause I am thinking of getting at least two of them. Thanks:)
I just got it from the MAC site. Disappointed as I loved it in your swatches, but maybe my monitor color balance isn't right. The actual item is very maroon-y to me. Darn. It costs $7 to return a $14 item....
Perfect! This is just what I hoped Cunning would be when Fab Felines came out. But is it Collection? Or just regular stock? I want to run out and buy one!
I HAVE to have this! I just dies my hair blue black and cut it into a pixie this shade would look sooo hot with the color!
i was recommended this as an alternate to kittenish, which was sold out by the time i got to my counter. i absolutely adore it. i'm an nc15/20 (wear 115 in mufe hd), and while it looks a LITTLE 'goth' on me with my dark brown/almost black hair, i rock it anyway and get a lot of compliments. it's a perfect BAM color for fall - very haute/runway on a pale girl.
I'm NW20 and i just bought this yesterday :) it's a little dark for me for everyday wear unless i sheer it out...when you sheer it out with a lip brush it gives a gorgeous wearable berry stain :)
Oh my this is sooo beautiful on you!So...autumn is here...i guess i have to start the deep plum and burgundy colours.(and i wish i was brave enough for reds!)
I adore this shade. It looks wonderful on darker skin. I'm a NW43 and it looks great on the job or on an evening out :)
gorgeous. i may invest in this! looks just like what i expected Kittenish would be but when it arrived it was too brown for me :( ah well! another Mac donation to the charity of Mum hehe :)
