MAC Calm Mode Tinted Lip Conditioner
MAC Cham-Pale: Lip Conditioners
MAC Lip Conditioners SPF15 + Lavender ($14.50 for 0.5 oz.) are potted lip balms and new and limited edition with Cham-Pale. There is one that is tinted, Calm Mode, which MAC describes as a “light neutral beige,” while the other is colorless. I actually found it more of a soft neutral pink than a beige–very much my-lips-but-better kind of a shade. Well, maybe not for me, as it’s a little light, so it can look obvious and milky on my lips in particular, but it’s that type of a pink; subtle, rosy, easy to wear. It is incredibly similar to last year’s Feelin’ Good.
The lip conditioners had a very light scent to them – vanilla and something, but I couldn’t detect any lavender to it (my nose is by no means a superior sniffer, though). The scent of these is nothing like Fix+ Lavender (good news for me!). Even though the formula is nice enough–smooth, moisturizing, comfortable–potted balms aren’t as sanitary as I’d like. For me, lip balm is something I carry around in my purse or pocket, that I probably reapply a couple of times a day as needed. With a potted lip balm, you need to be sure to use only clean fingers or else a lip brush. I also wish these lasted longer, as I feel like they disappear within an hour or two.
I will also caution you about the tube versions of MAC’s Lip Conditioner (not promoted in this launch), as the caps easily come off in my bag. I was constantly finding mine un-capped, rolling around in who-knows-what at the bottom of my bag, and it was just gross. I’ll keep this at my desk or on my night stand, but it’s not travel-friendly enough for me to use regularly. (Plus, Jack Black’s lip balms work better for my lips!)
MAC Cham-Pale Collection is a limited edition launch (official information and photos here) that is set to launch in-stores on December 26th in North American, January 2011 for international MAC locations. Product & Review FAQ
Where can I purchase the Lip Conditioner? How much is it?
MAC Cosmetics -- in-stores on December 26th, $14.50.
Is it limited edition?
Yes.
yay. iv been eyeing this off for ages.and now im conviced. is the clear glossy (maybe use over matte or dull lipsticks?) actually i just read what you said and now im not sure...thanks 4 a headache....jokes!!
Which would you prefer using more, the lip conditioner or the tinted one in Calm Mode? I'm kind of debating which one to get =X
Hey Christine! I was wondering, Calm mode compared to Petting Pink, which one do you like better? :)
So can i just go to the mac store and ask for a tinted lip conditioner?? Or r they permanently discontinued?
Christine, do you think the formula for this new lip conditioner is the same as the original one? Other than the scent do they feel and work about the same on lips?
Thanks Christine! =D I love the original, I was worried that they might have changed the formula as well as the scent. Now I'm going to get one! Thanks!
Hmm, I don't think i would like having to keep dipping my finger into the tub, it just seems to unsanitary for me :(
for the mac lip balms, i dont use my finger or use a brush, instead i just rub the whole thing on my lips hoding the container with my hand, works!
I have "Petting Pink." I love it, and find the scent to be a really sweet vanilla cake scent. Not the nice normal vanilla scent MAC uses for their lipsticks/glosses. It isn't a bad scent, but it smells like artificial candy vanilla cake. This one would look too milky pink on me too. So I'll pass on it.
The description for this TLC is the same as the Feelin' Good TLC from Warm & Cozy but Calm Mode appears a bit more pinker and less milky
It's a touch darker, maybe: http://www.temptalia.com/mac-warm-cozy-collection-tinted-lip-conditioners-reviews-photos-swatches-lip-swatches
I have sensitive skin. I've watched your video on this collection and you mention that some of the products have a vanilla scent; and some people have also stated that MAC products have a vanilla scent. I can't view the ingredients on any MAC products online either :( Do you think MAC is a brand that is safe to use on sensitive skin considering it is scented? I'm afraid using MAC products will cause my facial skin to break out in an eczema rash, which happens when I use something that causes my skin to react. And thank you for replying to my previous comments! I really appreciate that :)
Hi Luna, You could email MAC Cosmetics' customer service to get ingredient lists for any products you're interested in. Their lip products are vanilla-scented, while their skincare is scented with something else (I could not define it in a single word like vanilla). Everybody's skin is different, and since I'm not a skincare expert, I couldn't say whether it would be safe for you or not.
Hey Luna :) I have sensitive, eczema-prone skin and I've found that I only react to MAC foundations, especially Studio Fix. Studio Tech is the only MAC foundation I can wear. Their other products have not given me any problems :) However, I've found that the ladies at the counter are generally nice enough to give out samples or take returns (especially Macy's MACs!). Hope that helps :)
