MAC Azalea Blossom Blush Ombre
MAC Azalea Blossom Blush Ombre
MAC Azalea Blossom Blush Ombre ($26.00 for 0.31 oz.) is described as a “light cool pink.” It’s a cool-toned, blue-based pink with a pearly sheen. It was originally released with Spring Colour Forecast, but it will be making a reappearance in the Daphne Guinness collection that launches in-stores on December 26th. As it was before, it is also limited edition. MAC Overdyed is pinker, less blue. MAC Sakura is similar but can look pinker, depending on how you mix the shades. It has a soft feel against the skin and sits well on the skin without emphasizing pores, due to the more natural sheen in its finish. On my skin tone, it warms up a bit and looks less cotton candy pink and more plum, so it’s more wearable than I thought it might be.
The pigmentation can pack a punch, even though it appears almost soft and gentle in the pan. I applied it to cheeks using Bobbi Brown’s blush brush, and I felt like it was rather heavy. It doesn’t buff or blend out quite as well as I’d like, but it’s manageable. Because it has a gradient of color, you can go more lilac or more pink depending on your mood or look. The Blush Ombres are the size of MAC beauty powders or foundation powders, so they’re large and easy to get your brush into half of it. For me, when I wore this, it wore for six hours but looked a bit faded by eight hours, though it was still noticeably there.
Where to Buy: MAC Cosmetics on December 26th, $26
The Glossover
It's wearable on both cool and warm skin tones, despite its seemingly cool appearance! The pink section is almost yellow-based, which seems to help make it wearable. The color is buildable and can be worn softly or more heavily.

Product & Review FAQ
Where can I purchase it? How much is it?
MAC Cosmetics on December 26th, $26.
Is it limited edition?
Yes.
Any dupes?
MAC Overdyed is pinker, less blue. MAC Sakura is similar but can look pinker, depending on how you mix the shades.
maybe the one I got was a dud because i'm an NW20 and this color doesn't show up on me AT ALL. The colors are relatively dull in the one I received.
We share the same MAC shade :P Thanks for the swatch... I had to go and get it !!! It's so prettyyyyyyyy!!!! In loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
just a quick question strictly for my buying purposes-if each category got 9/10 [90 per cent-A] 8/10 80 per cent, a minus, 4.5/5, a plus, etc, why did the average equal just a B+? a lot of things are added like this and im just wondering if i should skip them because of it.
Hi Amanda, 9+10+9+8+4+4.5 = 44.5 out of 50 possible points. This is 89%, the equivalent of B+. I do not average the scores - I add them up and divide by the total points possible (50) to get a percentage, which translates to a letter grade. Hope this helps! Also! 4.5 out of 5 would actually be 90% (A-), whereas A+ would be 5/5! 9/10 = 90% = A- and 8/10= 80% = B-. A+ = 99% or higher A = 93-98 A- = 90-92 B+ = 87-89 B = 83-86 B- = 80-82 C+ = 77-79 C = 73-76 C- = 70-72 and so forth.
I ran out an bought this, and it's nice but a little dissapointing. I only have a 187 brush with me so that may totally be why, but it just isnt that pigmented on me (MAC NW30ish). Once I pack it on I love the finish, but takes a while. Does anyone know if the amount of violet in the gradient is variable like MSFs can be? Because that would explain it...
Which of the two blushes would you recommend for a person with yellow, warmer undertones?(around NC 43)
I ran ran ran to pre-order this. I have a "thing" for violet face powders. Blended the two colors makes a nice cool pink, but i suspect i'll be using up the violet side the pan a lot more more. I have Sakura from the Quite Cute collection. I avoid the plummy purple heart and concentrate on the pale blue violet of most of it. Azalea Blossom is different because it is almost not quite matte, unlike the rather frosty Sakura. And i suspect the two will play well together, with Azalea Blossom on the cheekbones and Sakura as a highlighter.
Hi Christine, I follow your blog daily and I love it! How does this blush compare to MAC beauty powder blush Sweetness. I am looking for a dupe and wish MAC would re-release ALL of the beauty powder blushes...love them so much!
I got this the last time around, but I'm def gonna stock up on it this time. I've been saving the blush due to it being LE
I bought this blush last time around and it is my favorite...blushes tend to want to turn orangey on me and this one stays pink...I use it very often and I am not near hitting the pan(actually I just checked it and it does not even look dented) so I would say it lasts a long time. I am an NW25 in summer NW20 in winter- studio fix fluid)
I love and but I had to contain the thought of "Oh God I hope they release Ripe Peach!" since I missed it the first time.
You look unbelievably gorgeous here, Christine! Azalea Blossom really complements you skintone, I think. Do you happen to remember what you have on your lips here?
I need both this one and the other one. I hope they don't sell out too fast online. I plan to go on and snag them both at midnight! Do you think it will be Pacific or Eastern when it goes up??
I've been an avid follower of your blog for a year and a half now, I check the upcoming MAC collections page every week or so, when I saw the Guinness collection info about a month ago and saw 2 of the ombre blushes being re-leased I called my MAC counter lady and had her make up a pre-order for the two blushes... 6 weeks in advance! LOL! And to add to it, I also did a pre-order for the early January "birdy" collection at the same time, that one was 2 months in advance at the time. She said that I seem to always know about the collection releases before the Nordstrom MAC staff do. I gave them your website. ;-)
I have done the exact same thing. One of them even called ME whenever the Cindy Sherman collection was just announced. I have you to thank for that Christine, you truly are the best in your field. Thank you for all of your hard work for us.
I was curious about this one. Think I might have to pick it up. Thank you for your swatches and review!
Christine, do you think this would look nice on an NC15 skin tone? The purple is what's making me wonder!
Go for it! I'm N/NC15 and I've discovered that blue-toned pinked blushes look lovely on me. Just don't overdo the application.
I am super excited to get my hands on this! I didn't really get "into" blush until after the Spring Forecast (or whatever it was) collection. Once I discovered how lovely blue-toned pinks looked on my cheeks, I've been hoping for a comeback. Hooray!
I don't get all the hype with the Ombre blushes. They are nice but they just mix into one color so what's the big deal?
You don't have to mix them into one big swirl - you could go a little heavier on one side or the other - and you get a lot of product, too.
GORGEOUSSSS !!! absolutely stunning on you Christine :D and I guess by now so many would have asked you about lipstick or gloss :D :D but if not pleaseeeee tell me what are you adorning on your lips ?? it is out of the world
wow, I thought noone could wear a colour with purple in it and not look like they have a cold, but you look amazing! :)
