This Week’s Beauty Report: Sunday, February 28th, 2010
Chanel Rouge Coco makes it much-anticipated debut in-store and online with thirty shades to choose from (and at $30 a piece!).
MAC Viva Glam’s Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga are having an exclusive discussion as hosted by Sharon osborne on Monday, the 1st, @11AM (EST). To catch the stream, head on over to MAC’s Facebook.
H&M does skincare, which will debut in stores in the beginning of March. It’ll include shower gel, body scrub, body lotion, hand cream and lip balm, in either raspberry and melon or lavender and mint. The products have natural and organic ingredients that are certified by Ecocert.
Givenchy launched a new scent called Ange ou Demon Le Secret, which they describe as “a delicate, radiant floral fruity fragrance.” Top notes are Italian Winter Lemon, Cranberry, Green Tea Leaves; middle notes are Sambac Jasmine, White Peony, Water Flowers; and Bottom: Blond Woods, Patchouli, White Musk.
Philosophy Color of Grace Collection launched recently (spotted it on Nordstrom!) with Heavenly Light Pink Illuminator ($28), Amazing Grace Shimmering Face Powder ($29.50), Art of Blushing ($35), Amazing Grace Coloring Book ($37.50), Go with Grace Face Brush ($20), Eyelighting Shadow Duo ($22), Angel Kiss Lip Gloss ($17.50). Philosophy also launched Wild Blackberry Blossom in a shower gel and body lotion. (MMM, want!)
Estee Lauder introduced Resilience Lift Extreme Makeup. It’s supposed to “offer all-day continuous moisture, ultra-radiance, incredible lift, and exceptional spreadibility.” It’s now available and retails for $36.50.
Smashbox Splendid Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a soft, semi-opaque coral-pink with a glossy finish. It has subtle golden/champagne shimmer throughout, but it has more of a glimmering effect. Despite having a very soft and sheer look to it, it’s surprisingly opaque. It really melds and blends with your natural lip color, so it is easy to wear. Smashbox’s Lipsticks are always very creamy and moisturizing and wear for a solid four hours on me.
MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick ($14.00) is a creamy, full color coverage shade of pinked beige. It’s one of my favorite nude shades to pair with a smoky eye, because it has this natural pinkness to it that keeps it from making me look like I’m sporting corpse-lips (which aren’t usually so flattering on me). It has a very soft sheen, but there is no shimmer in it. I’d have to say that Velvet Teddy may be one of my favorite lipsticks from MAC (at least, from the permanent range)–the texture is just phenomenal.
Is this the right nude lipstick for you? Would you wear it?
The Spring Season is a series of posts featuring my favorite soft beige, coral, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for the first blossom of spring — that runs through March 2010.
NARS Belize Lip Gloss ($24.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a milky pink with subtle gold and copper-red sparkle. It almost has a plum feeling to it, but it goes on more milky pink on my lips. It’s a surprisingly opaque lip gloss, particularly for NARS, since most are on the sheerer side. It has a smooth, creamy consistency and applies evenly into lips without settling too much into lip lines. Mine was scent-free, though some NARS lip glosses have a more chemical/plastic-y scent, which is unpleasant if you’re more sensitive to scent!
