YSL Tangerine Boho (42) Glossy Stain
YSL Tangerine Boho (42) Glossy Stain ($36.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a bright, medium-dark coral-red with warm undertones and a glossy finish. MAC Knockout (LE, $21.00) is lighter (90% similar). Illamasqua Temper (P, $22.00) is lighter, brighter, warmer (90% similar). MAC Berry Bold (LE, $20.00) is cooler (90% similar). MAC Flash Drive (LE, $20.00) is brighter (90% similar). Urban Decay Punch Drunk (DC, $26.00) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Push Some Buttons (LE, $20.00) is warmer (90% similar). YSL Orange de Chine (8) (P, $34.00) is lighter, brighter, warmer (85% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Gone Bad (216) (DC, $28.00) is lighter, brighter (85% similar). Becca Papaya/Topaz (P, $24.00) is more shimmery, lighter, less pigmented (80% similar). Sephora Fresh Mango (26) (P, $12.00) is lighter, less pigmented (80% similar). The Glossy Stain formula is supposed to have the “texture and shine of a gloss” with the “long wear of a stain.” I’ve long been a fan of the Glossy Stain formula for a long-wearing gloss with (often) good pigmentation. It had good color payoff with a little translucency that gave it that stained look where the natural lip color comes through slightly. The color went on beautifully with smooth, even coverage that made lips look fuller and smoother (lines were less noticeable–and I was pleasantly surprised the color didn’t gather heavily in the lines!). The texture feels very thin and watery initially, but after a couple of minutes, it develops into a moderately tacky, more gel-like consistency that is thicker and much glossier. On me, it was still going strong after eight hours of wear and was neither drying nor hydrating. The formula has a fruity scent to it, which wasn’t too noticeable when worn.

Pretty! Nice shade for spring and summer! I have one of these in a bright red. i never wear it. I think I picked the wrong shade, lol! I need a subdued shade like this.
They are really hard to pick, because they dry down totally different than they appear in the bottle most of the time!
Good to know! Last time I looked in my Sephora, I think they were either moving them or discontinuing. Because they had very few. I will certainly try on or read your reviews. 🙂
That looks so pretty on you and it’s great with that blush. What blush are you wearing? I can’t see it written anywhere.
I have four YSL Glossy Stains and I should really give them more love. I think I have Peche Cerra-Colla, Fuchsia Cubiste, Rose Tempera and Rouge Laque. Do they still do Fuchsia Cubiste? I couldn’t see it on their site, which is a shame because it’s the one I’ve used the most and would want to repurchase. ?
If you want a lovely, long-wearing red then definitely check out Rouge Laque. It took going to a few different counters to get my hands on it since it’s quite popular and I can see why! The others are lovely too. Rose Tempera is probably my favourite, it’s a gorgeous pink. Peche Cerra-Colla is nice but if you have quite pigmented lips it doesn’t show up so well, you get more of a peachy tint. Good for wearing everyday though. ?
Might have been LE or discontinued — hard to keep up with YSL sometimes! Unfortunately, I don’t remember the blush on this one.
Not my color, but wauw, nice performance!
Big fan of how long the Glossy Stains wear!
Oh my goodness, between that Peace Green nail polish and this, my wallet is panicking this morning. The swatch looks underwhelming, but it looks stunning on your lips!! It looks like that perfect shade of popscicle red orange for me, and of course it’s $36 (sigh). Christine, does it have a strong fragrance ? I have 2 of the YSL Rouge Pur Couture, and I like them, but they had a fruity fragrance.
Yes, they still have a fruity scent!
Very pretty. Whatever blush you’re wearing, it’s perfect with it.
Thanks, Rachel! I wish I could remember, lol!
Beautiful shade, especially for the warmer months on the quickly approaching horizon! LoL!
I am truly impressed with the 8 hour weartime, because my lips tend to eat up lipstick and whatever else I put on them. I would be stoked just getting 6 hours out of it.
The stain goes on and on and on, lol!
I love how juicy it is. I’d be curious to see how it looks on me.
I would be, too!
This looks so fresh on you! A few years back this range was raved about everywhere and I picked up a deep magenta color with high hopes. Unfortunately the color turned out really weird on my lips and I ended up never wearing it at all.
The formula is hard to try without actually applying – too often they have changed a lot as they ‘set” on the lips!
That looks really beautiful on you! I like the blush with it too.
Thanks, Pami! 🙂
Really pretty! It’s so much brighter on than in the swatch!!! Love it.
It’s crazy how it changes once you apply it!
Very pretty on you, Christine, but a bit too orange for me!
Thank you, Fran!
That’s such a gorgeous color! YSL really knows how to do lip products. I only have one of these, Corail Alla Prima. I got it just this week, so haven’t used it yet, but I did apply it and absolutely love the color. The scent really is shocking-it smells to me like white wine. I mean I think it’s lovely, but I could smell it over my perfume when I swatched it on the back of my hand lol!
I have found the scent to be stronger and weaker depending on shade, but it is definitely kind of fruity/grape-y to me.
This is a very wearable orange, like!
Yay!
Seems like a furmula worth checking out. I used to do a lot of shopping at the YSL counters a long, very long time ago, but I’ve been unimpressed by a lot of their eyeshadows lately. This however will lure me back, at least so I can try one or two, or more.
I really like this one, to be honest though I generally go for the cooler colours, but sometimes I am tempted by the warm side.
I think this would be amazing for spring.
If I keep on, I’ll soon have talked myself into breaking my makeup ban 🙂
I’m a huge fan of the Glossy Stain formula overall! Could be one worth checking out when you’re no longer on a no-buy!
