YSL Peace Green & Love Pink La Laque Couture Review, Photos, Swatches
YSL La Laque Couture
YSL Peace Green La Laque Couture ($28.00 for 0.34 fl. oz.) is a light-medium aqua green with warm undertones and fine, pearly shimmer that shifts from warmer copper to light pink. It was a thicker, but watery, polish that was hard for me to apply evenly, as the polish would pull to the edges and create an uneven surface, even if I laid my hands flat to try and help the polish level. It had semi-opaque coverage, and I didn’t notice the shimmer create visible lines/streaks. It lasted for seven days with minor tip wear. Rescue Beauty Lounge Liberty (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Cult Nails Thrive (LE, $12.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). China Glaze Keep Calm, Paint On (LE, $7.50) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). ILNP Princeton (P, $10.00) is more shimmery, darker (80% similar). YSL Love Pink La Laque Couture ($28.00 for 0.34 fl. oz.) is a light-medium, yellow-toned pink with fine, gold shimmer that shifts from a warmer, orange-gold to a lighter, paler gold. The consistency was thick but running, and the polish tended to pool along the edges without self-leveling as it dried down. It was hard to get streak-free coverage as the shimmer created fine lines that were sometimes visible–depended on the light. Two coats of polish yielded mostly opaque coverage, but you can see some of the nail line coming through. It wore for seven days with minor tip wear on me. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Femme (P, $10.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Guerlain Gemma (P, $26.00) is darker (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Nice colors! Too bad the polishes were so difficult to use.
They had such promise in the bottles!
The colors look amazing! However, the reviews seem a bit disappointing though. If it was on sale I would try it!
I had better luck with Peace Green than you did. It wasn’t super easy to work with but it wasn’t terrible. I think the shade is so pretty and unique it’s worth the minor difficulty. For me, the shade wore for a week before I removed it. I can’t say that I think the pink shade is worth it as it’s not particularly unique.
It’s been a minute since I’ve had a really bad polish moment, but I felt like these were two of the worst I’ve tried in awhile 🙁
Ha! You haven’t seen my review of Chanel Organdi yet! Will be posting this weekend when I can fully report on wear. But here’s a hint – Makes Peace Green application look like an A+!
Wow, Peace Green is stunning!! LOVE that duo chrome sheen, it makes the mint green so much more complex and wearable at the same time. I never thought of paying $28 for a nail polish, but this one is really tempting me, despite flaws in this formula. Eeek, does anyone know of a less expensive dupe???
Here’s hoping someone can help you out! I would hate for you to pay $28 for this type of formula 🙁
What about Julep’s Manda? http://www.julep.com/shop/nail-polish/manda-boho-glam.html
It looks a little more mint/blue then sea green, but it’s close and has that nice duochrome shimmer. I don’t have this one but I do like Julep’s formula.
Kelly, thanks for the tip! Yes, it looks more mint blue, but it’s still gorgeous. Oh my, might need that one too, eeeeek!
Katherine, I’ve never seen a good dupe of Peace Green. The shade is so unique. On me, I got undertone/duo shades from everything from yellow to pink to lavender depending on the light. It lasted about 5 days on me before minor tip wear…which was barely visible bc of the shade. I’m happy I bought it. That being said, I would have expected the formula to be much better for the price.
Oh my gosh, now I have to have it, it sounds absolutely gorgeous!! I already have some duo- chrome mint green shadows, would be nice to have a polish like that too 🙂
You do have to fight with it some for application but the results are stunning. I use a good base coat and leave a bit of cuticle conditioner around the edges so the pooling wasn’t a problem for me (once I got the feel for how much I could “safely” put on the brush.) I think it could really benefit greatly from something as simple as a better brush. I may try a substitute brush next time I wear mine. You definitely need 2 coats and honestly I think 3 would be even better but again, bc of the shade, any imperfections really aren’t visible unless you look very very closely.
Oh no! It’s sold out everywhere, except for on Evilbay, going for about $ 70 🙁
Try Saks they still had it for sale on line as of 3/30
Deborah, you’re an angel!! I just snagged it, and it’s on its way to me. Can’t wait! They must’ve re-stocked it. Thanks again !! 🙂
There’re some indie polishes that are similar, but not exact dupes – Emily de Molly’s Copper Patina is one, MooMoo’s Signature’s Bunny’s Secret Garden is another.
I’ve to say, though, that I had no problem whatsoever with Peace Green. I wore it twice since I got it, applied two coats each time, and it was neither streaky not difficult to apply.
Thanks so much for the tips dorit! Copper Patina is more blue, but it’s still stunning, and Bunny’s Secret Garden is gorgeous mint green, might be the closest one. In my search for a Peace Green dupe, I seem to be finding tons of other stuff I like LOL Glad you were able to snag yours before it was gone!
Pretty shades. If I were to wear these, I’d use an opaque cream polish in a similar shades and top with these. Very in keeping with Pantone’s colors for this year.
That’s a great tip, Rachel!
Ugh, why did such a fabulous pale duochrome mint green nail polish have to have so many issues? This is the mint of my dreams, I tell you. But $28 for a substandard nail polish, I just don’t know….it is so unusual and pretty that I’m fighting some strong waves of temptation here!
Well, if it’s any help, one reader said theirs was great, just needed three coats!
3 coats, ye gads!!! Actually, I would probably do what Rachel R mentioned, first use an opaque mint polish, then wear one coat of Peace Green over it. Duochromes can be so thin and too transparent!
I have both of them and I didn’t have many issues of them. Green Peace took three coats but they dried fast and lasted about a week on my nails.
I meant Peace Green.
Argh, I wish I had that experience, Angelica!
Love the color of Peace Green but a little more coverage would be nice.
I really wish it was more opaque, too!
Omg, I looked all over for Peace Green, finally was able to find it online, ordered it, and then it was canceled. I was sooooo disappointed. it’s so pretty, even with the not-so-great marks.
Oh no! 🙁
So disappointing considering the price tag. If done right, these can be so lovely for Spring.
I totally agree!
I would have ordered the pink had I not seen this – whew! You saved me again!
Happy I could help, Deborah!
Such sweet, spring shades, however, it’s outrageous to charge $28 for a poor performing nail polish! Peace looks more unique. If it was an A I would be very tempted.
It’s such a pretty shade in theory!
Oh, I’m so disappointed that the quality wasn’t there. I so wanted to get these two! 🙁
Me too, Roxanne 🙁
I’d be all over both of these if they were more opaque.
Same 🙁
How did YSL make them thick AND watery??? Sorcery!
LOL! Maybe I am not describing it right, but they were thick… but sheerer? Pooled on the sides a lot 🙁
Well MEH!~ YSL usually has decent nail colours. These look sub-par for their price range.
They do! Most of the high-end formulas these days applies just fine, and of course, wear is YMMV, but these were just disappointing.
Peace Green is so pretty! I wish it was better quality. I have enough issues painting my nails without smudging/generally messing them up, without the formula fighting me too.
Oh no! 🙁
Peace Green looks neat. I don’t have anything like it. I don’t pay more than $10 for nail polish, anymore, though. It’s weird, as long as a shade is a normal type of formula (not a texture, or matte), 90% of the time, there will eventually be a dupe on the cheaper end.
So here’s to hoping we’ll see one come out that performs even better!
That’s true – of all things, polish seems duped the most and done the best by other brands!
Lovely colors, but I would expect a much better formula for that price.
Me too! Normally, I have better luck with YSL!
I wonder if it’s a body chemistry thing– because I had no problem whatsoever with this formula. And I love the color of Peace Green — so unique. I recently wore another YSL polish I had and no problem.
It sounds like maybe there is inconsistency with the formula, because I have heard both ways – rants and raves – on this shade! I have had great luck with other YSL shades, though.
That green one is certainly interesting and really pertty, but I’ll stay strong and and just walk past the YSL counters.
Good for you, Helene!
I love your reviews but I’m never able to see the shimmer in the nail colors, in your photos. Have you tried using a different setting on your light box? Even the crème shades are a bit hard to tell what the color is really like. Just wondering, thanks.
