YSL Orange Fougueux (04) Baby Doll Kiss and Blush ($40.00 for 0.33 fl. oz.) is a softly brightened, medium tangerine orange with warm, yellow undertones, and very fine golden shimmer-sheen. The shimmer is almost imperceptible when swatched or applied. Maybelline Coral Burst (LE, $5.99) is brighter. NARS Rotonde (LE, $41.00) is more matte. MAC Fiery Impact (LE, $25.00) is slightly more muted but sheered out, they are similar. MAC Optimistic Orange (LE, $21.00) is brighter. Benefit Cha Cha (P, $30.00) is more red-toned. See comparison swatches. (Look here for similar shades for it as a lip color.)

The new formula is supposed to work on cheeks and lips, and the texture is described as an “air whipped mousse” and has a “soft matte finish.”  The color is supposed to be buildable.  For a more in-depth overview of the packaging and applicator, read my original review of the formula.  Orange Fougueux had good color coverage, which felt buildable, blendable, and easy to use at varying intensities.  It’s pigmented enough where you feel like the product stretches–a little goes a long way–but a little dab gives a soft, sheer tint to cheeks or lips.  The consistency is thin, almost velvety and silky at the same time, but as it is blended and worked into the skin, it melts and becomes more powder-like.  The final result is a satin finish–not truly dewy but not matte.  On lips, it stays glossy for a couple hours, and then the shine starts fading and by the end of wear, it’s satin-like.  As a blush, it wore well for eight hours, and as a lip color, it wore well for four hours and was neither drying nor hydrating.  This shade didn’t leave a stain behind.  The formula has a sweet, mango-and-grape scent to me, kind of like Glossy Stains but less intense.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Beautiful! Turns out it will cost almost $10 to send/return..and it looks less orange on you then I expected (I had gotten this and fuchsia as I wrote on your fuchsia review). So I might actually try this….I’ve only looked at it in bottle and haven’t opened it. Hm…I can definitely use it as a blush and add a pink gloss over it on lips.
I will likely keep mine in this color after your review. Thanks!
Any chance you’ll review any other colors?

It’s not a true orange – definitely softer/more muted. $10 to return – that sucks!

This is all I have right now, sorry!

Hey, I was looking at your CoverGirl Lip Perfection posts and you mentioned testing out all 44 shades but I can only see reviews for a few. Where are the others?

Wow It looks gorgeous! I really like it but I’m not totally sold on this just because the quantity vs the price it’s a little… unfair :C But if I’m going to buy one of this, this is going to be the color 🙂 Thanks Christine for your reviews n.n

Oh Good to know! I just want to try some “multitasker” products and I assumed that the quantity would not be enough, but now I’m ready to pull the trigger on this product 🙂 thanks again!

No problem! 🙂

Most gloss is around 0.20 fl. oz. and a lot of blushes are around 0.15 oz. or so – some are larger, some are smaller. Cream blushes are usually less (like the newer Chanel and MUFE blushes are 0.09 oz. each!).

Very pretty on you, Christine! Your complexion looks really lovely with warm tones like this and makes me want to buy everything. 🙂

This shade is gorgeous on you, Christine! I’m not entirely sure that my skin tone can handle oranges like that (then again, I have bright orange lipsticks that I LOVE), but I’m willing to try it out. I’d probably play with this in a store before putting money down on this shade.

Wow, I really like this one! This one and the fuschia might be too far out of my comfort zone, but I’m excited to see the others.

I cannot choose between this orange and the fuchsia color. They are both lovely. Which one would you prefer for someone with my skin tone, medium yellow undertone, nc30? Thanks for the review!

I was like: “nah, won’t look good on anyone” – and then I saw your swatch. Looks gorgeous on you, Christine! Makes me want to try it and I wouldn’t normally.
