YSL Explicit Pink & Rose Happening Vinyl Cream Lip Stains Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Explicit Pink (405)
YSL Explicit Pink (405) Vinyl Cream Lip Stain ($36.00 for 0.18 oz.) is a bright, medium magenta pink with strong, blue undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation, which wasn’t buildable as the formula did not layer well at all (just seemed to make it even more splotchy). The texture was thin and very fluid, which made spreading it easy, at least. The color did not apply evenly, despite trying three different ways/attempts to get it to go on well, but the formula did not self-level and streaked very easily–if I pressed my lips together, it moved so much of the product around. This shade stained my lips a deep raspberry red. It wore well for five hours before it started to look more like the deep red stain than the brighter pink it was initially, and it was slightly hydrating overall.

Formula Overview
$36.00/0.18 oz. - $200.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "full-coverage color" with "vinyl shine" in "just one stroke" and lasts for "10 hours." I bought seven shades to try, and I struggled applying all but two of those shades (Carmin Session and Rouge Vinyle) as they applied unevenly with noticeable streaking, which was only worsened if I tried to press my lips together to blend the product back out. I reapplied every single trouble-making shade three different times, trying less and more product as we ll as waiting 10 minutes for it to set/self-level (newsflash: they didn't).
The formula had semi-opaque to opaque coverage, but the color just did not seem to go on evenly for most shades I tried. The consistency felt more water-like when initially applied, as it was thin with a lot of movement, but it hugged lips more within 30 seconds of application and had a moderate shine and some tackiness. They were longer-wearing (six to eight hours, plus a very strong stain) and were comfortable to wear (non-drying to lightly hydrating). The formula had a sweet, floral scent but no discernible taste.

Explicit Pink (405)
PPermanent. $36.00.
Rose Happening (403)
YSL Rose Happening (403) Vinyl Cream Lip Stain ($36.00 for 0.18 oz.) is a vibrant, deep pink-coral with warm undertones and a lightly glossy, cream finish. It had good color coverage, but the application was dismal, and I couldn’t figure out how to get the product to apply evenly. The only way to salvage the color was to blot away most of the product and just live with the stain (which was more like a warm red on me). The texture was lightweight but fluid and had a lot of slip, but it also felt wet for awhile, and it did not self-level like some of the Glossy Stains have for me. The coral hue lasted for four to five hours, and the stain came through and was visible for another two hours after that. The formula seemed to be a touch hydrating overall.

Great, if one wants camo lips?
And… I do not believe that anyone does.
Explicit Pink has a very noticeable camo look of neon cool pink with some really bright red peeking through in patches.
YSL is a has been…for many many years.
It is a gloried version of Loreal.
The glamour of YSL and the quality is gone. Thus is no surprise.
Its casing used to be made of 24K plated gold.
States so on the box. The colors used to be so intense.
Yes, Rose Happening was another one I returned. The texture was not good at all for me. I do like the original glossy stains though. I will not buy another vinyl cream again.
Wow – these are not so good for the price – pretty shades, but poorly executed. Lots of good dupes around for them.
Pretty shades…too bad they don’t look nice on the lips. And isn’t that an awfully small amount of lip color for $36? Looks like a trial size.
0.18 fl. oz. is pretty standard – they are not at all small. A solid lipstick is usually 0.10 to 0.12 oz. Liquid lipsticks and lipglosses range from 0.10 fl. oz. to 0.20 fl. oz. on average.
Interesting, I guess it’s the shape that makes them look smaller! Thanks!
