YSL Coral Plume, Chili Tunique, Coral Aviator Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Sticks Reviews & Swatches
Coral Plume (79)
YSL Coral Plume (79) Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick ($38.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a muted, medium orange with warm, almost brown undertones and a glossy, cream-like finish. This was one of the few shades from the new-for-spring hues that didn’t apply well for me; it had slightly uneven coverage and slight streaking along the edges. It seemed to be more slippery and thicker, which seemed to contribute to the less impressive application. It had medium color payoff, as anticipated, and the lipstick was comfortable to apply and to wear, though it only lasted for three and a half hours on me (but was hydrating).

The formula is supposed to be "deeply hydrating" and "melt" onto the lips with a "pop of color" and give long-term hydration. It is described as having "medium coverage" and "irreverent shine." The color coverage was typically medium, as described, though some of the deeper shades were more buildable to semi-opaque coverage.
They're a very, very creamy, emollient formula; they slip-slide as they melt against the lips during application, and it feels luxurious to apply but can be easily over-applied. It's just the type of texture that lends itself to over-application without adding more coverage, so I recommend being mindful in order to ensure you'll get plenty of usage out of each tube. Fortunately, once on, they don't feel thick or overly slippery, so it doesn't feel like the lipstick is constantly moving while worn.
They have a high-shine, almost glossy, finish that often smoothed out my lip lines without settling into them, and the latter made it more impressive due to the amount of color and slip. The wear time varied from shade to shade but typically landed between three and five hours. Some shades leave a faint stain behind--usually the mid-tone and darker hues. The formula has a sweet, mango scent but no discernible taste.

Chili Tunique (80)
YSL Chili Tunique (80) Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick ($38.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark copper with warm, red undertones and a lightly glossy, cream finish. It had medium, buildable color coverage (up to semi-opaque) that applied evenly and fluidly across my lips. The texture was balm-like–emollient but not thick or slippery while worn–and more flattering as my lip lines were less noticeable. It wore well for four and a half hours and felt hydrating over time.

Coral Aviator (81)
YSL Coral Aviator (81) Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick ($38.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a brighter, medium coral with strong, warm orange undertones and a creamy sheen. It had medium color coverage, just as it was supposed to, that went on evenly, and I think any “unevenness” that’s showing in the swatch is owing to the fact that my natural lip color isn’t even to begin with, so the medium coverage and mid-tone nature of the hue is influencing the overall result. Despite having a very balmy, creamy consistency (which made for very comfortable application and wear!), it didn’t settle noticeably into my lip lines and minimized the appearance of texture in most areas of my lips. This shade stayed on well for four hours and was moisturizing while worn.

Yayyy! I love these. Coral Aviator looks especially great on you. I’m a wee bit embarrassed to note that I purchased Chili Tunique despite owning quite a few of those dupes (Estee Lauder “Emotional” is a go-to for special events)… but I have no regrets. We all have our things, right?
I mean, it’s about use, IMO, more than just not having dupes – if you wear it often enough, that’s really what matters!
I agree! And yes, my lipsticks definitely get use. 🙂
I was seriously hoping that Coral Plume would have done better, as this is a type of shade I love for a nude lip. It actually does look fine in the closeup lip swatches. However, I’m viewing it on a 5 inch screen as opposed to a larger tablet or laptop screen, so I could be missing something important.
Coral Aviator is also a stunner for spring!
I’m very nervous about trying these since I’m allergic to the original Rouge Volupte formula. One thing I was wondering- do these have a scent? I find that most YSL lipsticks have a powerful “fig” scent (smells like fermenting fruit to me). If these don’t, I’d be that much more tempted to give them a shot.
It has a mango scent – if you check “formula overview,” general formula descriptions/characteristics will be listed there (like scent, taste, etc.).
I really like YSL lip products but $38 buck for a lip stick is a little steep. I love the Coral one shown here but I have 3 dupes so I better work on using them up, lol
How beautiful are these lipsticks? I love the Chilli shade the best, but they are all stunning.
These are quite pretty. Chili Tunique is my favorite. I love a sheer reddish color. Coral Plume and Coral Aviator would be great for summer.
I like Coral Aviator, it looks so plush
