We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

MAC Lovers Only is lovely for this time of year and I’ve really enjoyed Sephora’s Lipstories Hong Kong by Night in the autumn (hand waving at Genevieve). MAC Dallas was another winner I purchased this year but, as always, my favourite (not from this year…this year is the year it was guillotined!) is MAC Craving.
Tower 28 Juice Balm in Squeeze, Les Files En Rouge in BB, Patrick Ta Plumping Gloss in Headliner, Saint Jane Lip oil in Bliss, Burts Bees Red Dalia & elf Glossy Lip Stain in Pinkies Up
YSL: Candy Glazes what a great formula and so easy to wear.
Chanel: I love all of the Chanel lip formula’s and I have purchased several new shades this year. My favorite being Inattendu
Dior: Like Chanel, I do love Dior’s lipstick formula. My favorite shades are 999 and 647 Forever Feminine
Pat McGrath: MatteTrance and Satin Allure formula, too many shades to mention!!
Lisa Eldridge: I love all her formulas and am slowly completing a set of all the shades that appeal to me.
Gucci: Satin Lip Formula
Hermes: Satin and Matte lip formula’s, # 78 Rose Velours
Charlotte Tilbury: Although I am not a huge fan of most of her makeup, I do love her lipstick formula’s and in particular, if I am looking for a matte formula, CT is generally the formula that I choose.
This past year, I think that I have gone more subdued with my lips and have done smokier, more intense eye makeup? So, here goes: PMG Labs Omi and Deep Orchid MatteTrance Lipsticks along with Nude Venus Divinyl, Hourglass Satin Cream in Cypress, UD Broken and the new version of Uptight, MAC Paramount and VG I, Fenty Gloss Bombs in Fenty Glow and ChocoLit, Tower 28 Seseme gloss, and Rare Beauty Nearly Neutral Balm gloss.
FLORTTE LIP MUDS! Blows Kaleidos out of the water. My gosh, I absolutely adore mine. Aside from that: the Joocyee lipsticks I’ve gotten, the Hermès and Guerlain bullet I got, and surprisingly, Too Faced’s Lady Balls.
elf lip oil is simply perfect – and very affordable!
Merry Christmas, everyone!
My Best Lipsticks from 2023 were the CP ones of Party Mix, Trending and Drama Much – that I have used quite a lot this year.
Thanks to Ozsale (an online Aus retailer that offers great discounts on beauty products) I purchased (new to me) Shiseido’s Disrobed for my DIL (who loves it); a Givenchy lipstick, a YSL one and a Sisley one – I don’t recall the exact colours/shades now and they have been sensational as well.
The newer CP ones were, as I recall, quite disappointing – a theme for this year’s makeup releases.
Rouge Dior Matte in Mitzah
Rouge Dior Matte in Nude Look
Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in Intemporelle
I bought quite a few lip glosses this year to put over mattes, but ended up wearing them alone and I like MAC’s (newly formulated or at least new to me) Lipglass and Cremesheen formulas and Sephora’s glosses. I’m using up the rest of my Pat McGrath’s which I also like, but probably won’t repurchase. I gave lip oils a try and….meh.
Winky Lux Lavender and Fenty Gogi Go
I meant Gogi Gang by Fenty. Yikes.
Purchased in 2023 – Nabla Beyond Jelly lipstick Nocturna, Ami Cole lip oil Romance, Nars Afterglow lip balm Turbo (perfect sheer red), Laneige lip mask Pink Lemonade
Older favorites – Lisa Eldridge gloss Blush, Clinique Black Honey, Fenty lip oil, Haus lip oil Hue
ColourPop Lux Lipstick in Lioness and Bloom 2 Bloom; MAC Satin Lipstick in Mega Magenta (LE).
The Givenchy Rose perfecto liquid balm in 011 Black Pink has been by far my most used this year, and what’s not to love: it makes my lip look plump, my lips stay hydrated for a good amount of time even afer the product wears off, the color stains my lips nicely so it’s incredibly long lasting for a liquid balm, it feels good on the lips and it is easy to swipe on/touch up even without a mirror. The only downside is the price point.
MAC Hey Frenchie! and MAC Beam There, Done That and MAC Rebel.
CT Bond Girl.
A lot of various red, pink and plum lipsticks most I think were from MAC, the ones mentioned above were my most used though.
CT Bond Girl (now M.I. Kiss) is a perfect my lips but better/rosy nude on me. If you’re looking for this shade in a gloss, Lisa Eldridge’s Gloss Embrace in Blush is a spot on color dupe and the formula is fantastic.
Thanks!
I do feel glossier lips would be nice. Maybe it’s the winter, it’s really quite dark where I live, so anything to brighten the days is welcome.
I just used whatever was close by, but one that comes to mind for comfort and lip stain was Fenty Poutsicle in Mai Type and of course, my staples, Fenty Gloss Bomb (any color).
