I literally woke up this morning sad that this foundation is no more 🙁 So random as I hadn’t even seen this question yet, ha!

Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener. It’s perfect for when you want to brighten your undereyes without the thickness. It’s so natural looking.

Are they definitely being discontinued or are they being repackaged the way Guerlain perfumes just went through a rebranding? I noticed you can’t get them in the US, but I’ve been able to still get a few when I go through duty free overseas.

Beth Avatar

I knew it spelled doom when these turned up at Costco a couple months ago…still kinda shocked they’re actually discontinueing them, maybe they’ll keep the formula and just repackage to lower the price since the packaging is kind of ridiculous.

Mariella Avatar

Oh yes!!!! I was so glad to get one of the shadows on my “wish list” before they replaced it.

In my original answer, I forgot to include the entire line of Sephora single eyeshadows which are now marked down and are being phased out. Sure there were some poor performers in the lineup but what company with dozens and dozens of shades doesn’t have a few clunkers? I’m waiting to see if they replace them and, if so, what with.

Maybelline Dream Matte powder. I am finally getting to the end of my enormous ebay stash, so I’ll be forced to find an alternative. It wasn’t even that amazing, just a good color match and really inexpensive.

Deborah S. Avatar

The easy answer would be the Chosungah 22 foundation that I love but not sure if it is really discontinued or whether I just can’t get it here in the U.S. Appears to still be available in Australia/New Zealand. Of course, the Guerlain Rouge G’s although I agree with the packaging being a total bust. Impossible to store in my current lipstick arrangement but the formula was great.

Giorgio Armani Lasting Silk UV Foundation. G.O.A.T. status for me. Shiseido Synchro Skin, MAC Matchmaster and Tom Ford Perfecting Foundation are all filling in and doing a fine job, but still. I know GA came out with that Power Fabric and I’ll give that a try when I run out of the LSUVF. I’ve already got Designer Lift and I love that for sheer coverage. Something about the “weight” of the GA formulas in general. Maybe I can get the same effect of the LSUVF with Power Fabric if I sheer it out or something.

Normally, when something has been discontinued, it is secreted away and only brought out for special occasions with prior clearance of “yes, this is xxxx-worthy”. I’ve decided I am using this up with gusto; it’s going to turn eventually but also, I’ve accepted lately that there will always be another. And I’m forging ahead with all of my other favorite things that I usually reserve for special occasions or use sparingly. It takes me a long time to use favorite or new things because of this, this anxiety about a favorite being gone but with the constant turnover, I’ve realized there will be a new HG right around the corner.

All the MAC Matte2 shadows and also Silver Sun and Silver Dawn Extra Dimension shadows (they brought them back with the permanent ED shadows and then discontinued them) and also Constructivist Paint Pot. I was floored and really saddened to see that Paint Pot no longer available.

Mariella Avatar

I have an almost full jar of Constructivist, thank goodness, and here (Ontario), there is no Nordstrom’s Rack (Toronto or Ottawa may have them; I don’t know). I just don’t understand why they’d discontinue such a classic. Have you seen Silver Dawn? It’s as beautiful as Silver Sun but more of a “classic” shade.

The original, now discontinued Wayne Goss brushes 17, 18, and 19 for eyes, and brushes 13, 14, and 15 for face. I prefer the dyed goat bristles (and blue squirrel in other WG brushes) to undyed goat bristles.

Guerlain Kiss Kiss in “Love Kiss” is my favorite lipstick of all time… and though not at Christine levels, I’ve owned a LOT of lipsticks. And Air Kiss is the lipstick my partner likes best on me. Sigh.

Scott Barnes Diamond Dust loose illuminating face powder. Though I recently went through my stash of backup products (mostly thinking, why on earth did I buy this again?) and I found an unopened container! It’s currently sitting on my vanity but I’m pretty sure I’m going to crack it open soon. It’s been YEARS since it was discontinued, so I was pretty goshdarned stoked about that 🙂

Megan Avatar

Well, add me to the chorus crying tears over Rouge G. I had no idea! Shame to waste such a beautiful formula! I wish they would drop the price, get rid of the heavy packaging, and bring out more colors.

For me, the last thing I mourned was Armani Maestro Glow Foundation. Argh!

Lea Avatar

Yikes – I didn’t know Maestro Glow was discontinued! I hadn’t needed a new one in a while; I was trying something else. I suppose that leaves me with only Cle de Peau and La Mer as options for my pale, pale self dammit. I’m very bummed. CdP is my top favorite, but it was always helpful to have other solid options.

My last item of mourning (before this morning) was another Armani dc’d item – their flash glosses. I’ve always been a big gloss fan and the Armani ones were a gel consistency, hydrating and just lovely to wear. No stickiness whatsoever. They also made a color (524) that was my perfect shade and matched their Rouge D’Armani in 501. I stocked up like mad when I started finding it difficult to find, so I’m covered for a while – but would love to see these come back!

Maybelline Sky High Curves mascara. The only curling mascara to really work for me. Urban Decay Deluxe shadows in shades Underground, a perfect antique gold and Ransom, my all time favorite blurple shadow! And 24/7 liner in Lust which is another gorgeous blue purple.

Genevieve Avatar

Definitely Clarins Everlasting foundation in linen – the porcelain with pink undertones shade. And the brand hasn’t even replaced that shade in their other ranges of foundation. None of Clarins foundations are now light enough for me. What a shame. It is a fantastic foundation that lasts all day and has a beautiful finish to it.

I don’t know if you read/watch Phyrra, Phyrra.net. She has a whole section on Pale Girl Beauty. She basically has to add white to everything. Bet she has some good foundation reviews archived. I think Michele would say to check out Idun minerals. I believe the co is Swedish, so they have lots of lighter shades. Shipping?: idk. As to Koh Gen Do… I’m light to medium and wear the darkest, yes darkest cool shade. I’m sure they have KGD in Aus, but it must be inordinately expensive. They have sample packets to try at a very small fee (here.) PS: love your town, as my dad’s name was Melbourne!

Genevieve Avatar

Thanks kjh – I do look at Phyrra and her pale girl beauty, but she has neutral undertones, whilst I have pink. Idun minerals, which are Phyrra’s favourite, are too expensive to internationally ship. And the other more HE brands are hideously expensive here.
Melbourne is a great city, but our transport infrastructure is fairly average for its size – about 4.5 million people and growing. Was it your dad’s Christian name?

Ellen Avatar

I too am redhead, fair, pink undertones. Though I think Phyrra is paler than me, or wants to look that way. I like Georgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation in 3.75, made for pink undertones. Also, Bobbi Brown new shade Ivory, in the Skin liquid foundation undertones are even more pink, and it is very sheer so forgiving. Bare Minerals Rescue Skin Gel in Opal, Lightest in cool shades. Also very sheer so forgiving. If you need lighter, Bobbii Brown alabaster, MAC foundations with NW10 or W10 shades, I know their professional line on website has cream foundation that comes very light and pink. So does their face and body fluid foundation. I feel you, was devastated when Prescriptives went out of business. Theirs was the first foundation that I could use, and I had graduated to custom blended when they closed up shop. I hear that they still do it on their website, don’t know if it is available where you are, but worth investigating. There are definitely more choices available, especially if you have a Sephora near you. Many of the brands that Phyrra suggests do have cool toned equivalents, so don’t discard the info, just look into it further. Nars’ new foundation’s lightest shade is pink toned, unlike Siberia in their other lines. Go to their website. Good luck.

Genevieve Avatar

Thanks Ellen, I do have a Sephora near to me and I have looked at the foundations available there – but they are so, so expensive. Even the MAC foundations for my shade are more than twice the price than in the US.

Hi Christine, might you know if Guerlain is discontinuing this line in Canada? I noticed there is stock available on Sephora.ca and my local Shoppers received a new display filled with Rouge G lipsticks with the silver case, and available in their online store. All are selling for the regular price ($60 CDN + taxes).

Bobbi Brown Spray Brush Cleaner. The one item that people like across the board from this brand is that brush cleaner and it looks to be discontinued.

I’m (begrudgingly) trying Estee Lauder’s Makeup Brush Cleanser.

Erin Avatar

Fingers crossed that it’s there for you eventually. I am in Canada and use the Canadian version of the site. I bought a backup some time ago and every time I look, it’s still there.

Bonnie Avatar

You can buy Electric on Allcosmeticswholesale.com. I got mine on HauteLook or maybe Nordstrom Rack, but HauteLook rotates. You have to check it often to see what they have. If they aren’t showing it today, it may be back tomorrow.

Make Up For Ever’s original HD foundation was perfect for me….not fussy about the new one; Revlon’s Colorburst Lipsticks in the black tube; Mac Dovetail eye shadow; CoverGirl Marathon Mascara

BareMinerals Well-Rested CC Eye Primer. It works great on my very dark circles and keeps my under eye concealer from creasing and fading. My eyes are sensitive and can water a lot. This primer also helps, on the outer corner of my eyes, to stop the watery eyes. So sad they discontinued it!

Revlon Age Defying pressed powder. I picked one up for $3 on clearance a few years ago, not realizing that they were on the way out, nor that I would love it so, so much. I just yesterday ordered one from eBay. Crossing my fingers. I’ve used plenty of other nice face powders, but something about this one just looks so nice on my skin!

Also, as mentioned above, Fiona Stiles Foundation. Sad about that one.

Moxie Avatar

The one I’ll forever be salty about is Lip Lix by Bonne Bell. It destroyed younger me when they were discontinued.

As an adult, I was disappointed when Sephora discontinued / changed the formulation of their in-house lipsticks. They had one that was the perfect sheer berry stain without the shine of most sheers, and it disappeared.

Alison Avatar

By Terry shadow singles– great formula– subtle and beautiful colors, really well thought it. Sadly they have replaced it with the powdery formula used in the eye palettes. Wish they would resume with the singles formula.

Chanel Vitalumiere foundation in Beige Rose 12. I loved it, but was too young for the coverage and switched to vitalumiere aqua. Since then, my skin has aged enough to need to switch back. But now there’s no BR12. I have a feeling my skin is too dry for their other formulas with that color. I’ll have to actually drag myself to a counter in person to sort this out.

Adeline Avatar

KVD Studded Lipstick in Magick. They dropped that shade when they released the new formulation. I bought 2 back ups when I realized the shade would no longer be available : that was such a flatering color on my skin tone, I would always receive compliments when wearing Magick. Plus the subtle glitter was super cute!

Ugh, so many things. NYX original formula blush in Angel … the original formula of MUFE HD foundation … NARS double-ended lipstick and gloss in Shanghai/Turkish Delight (I didn’t care for TD but Shanghai was my true love and of course, that was the colour they discontinued) … I found a good dupe in Bite Beauty’s High Pigment Pencil in Meritage, but those have been discontinued, too! Blargh! … LORAC Co-Stars liquid lip in Kissing Scene — the only nude I’ve found that worked for me and wore like iron! … Smashbox Photo Finish Targeted Pore and Line Primer … the original formula of Marc Jacobs glosses … I know there’s more but I’ll stop here. 🙂

Bonnie Avatar

There have been a few, mostly drugstore because I’ve only branched into HE in the last year or two. CoverGirl LipSlicks, Maybelline Brow Powder (I know they now have a powder kit, but I miss the simplicity of that one brown shade in a single compact), and Revlon used to have my favorite bronzer ever. I can’t remember the name of it, but I think it was from their ColorStay line. It was 4 shades that you could swirl together, and they were all matte or at least not shimmery. I actually bought more on Ebay years ago, but I can’t find them! Oh well, I’m moving soon so they are sure to turn up!

Oh come to think of it, Revlon had a pressed powder I liked a lot too…Nearly Naked. I think I repurchased a few times. Everything HE that I liked a lot I have been able to find on HauteLook.
