Last week I wore my Lorac Pro Palette 4: Brûlée and Pecan in the crease, Silver Mauve all over the lid, Amaretto on the outer corner with a little bit of black current smudged on the outer corner at the lash line (I find when I smudge a bit of darker eyeshadow there it gives my eyes a bit of a lift).

L’Oreal True Match Lumi Glotion as a face primer and put a light covering of IT Cosmetics CC cream over top and concealed with Bare Minerals Complete Coverage Serum Concealer. I used Pixi gel cheek stain in Flushed as a blush, Becca Bronzer in Capri Coast to give a bit of shape to my face, and CT Hollywood Flawless filter as a highlight. For lips, I used my MUFE Artist Creme Lipstick in C211. It was a really pretty rosey look and I loved it!

The Silver Mauve shade in the Lorac Pro Palette 4 is one of the most gorgeous shadows I’ve ever used. It has a finer silver glitter throughout, but the formula is so nice that the glitter doesn’t cause fallout and you can use it with regular primer. It’s so lovely and sparkly when the light hits it.

I brought in another eyeshadow single. I work the matte caramel shade in the crease. My blue brown type eyeshadow in the outer half of the eyelid. And one of the rosy metallics on the inner half of the eyelid. My guess this cover shot palette is for very simple looks like a metallic on the eyelid and the matte caramel shade in the crease. Or you have to pair it with other single shadows or palettes you may have. I haven’t had the palette for very long so I haven’t played w it too much but that’s my observation ?

My Anastasia Sultry palette. Gosh, I a loving this palette so much. I’ve gotten quite a few really nice looks out of it so far. But, my last one was with Slate in the crease & lower lash line, Cinder on the lid, Cyborg near inner lid, Noir on outer V, Fresh under browbone, also, Bloom applied softly above Slate in crease & blended to slightly warm up look. I had no fallout either from these shadows. This is a refreshing change for me, since all of my palettes are very warmed toned.

I’’m so in love with Jouer Rose Gold and the PM Bronze Seduction palettes that I’ve been using them constantly. I thought the Bronze seduction palette might run too warm for me, but somehow the shades look fantastic (don’t pull too yellow or orange) on me. The shadows in both diffuse effortlessly and that has me completely wow’ed. PM = entrapment and disobedient to deepen in crease. I’m obsessed with these two shades together in crease. Fire Opal in inner tear duct. Jouer = mahogany and rosewood on outer corner. PM. Xtreme aubergine to line outer third. Jouer Rose quartz or champagne bronze on inner third. Lace as fine line at brow and as liner on inner tear duct in cat eye shape.

Jouer Hazelnut and Toffee in the crease make the same look a bit cooler.. sometimes I will dust Jouer Orchid and PM Blitz Flame together on center lid and smoke out and add a liner for a very simple but impactful eye look.

Both palettes are of the very best I have ever used. Tough to go back and use palettes where I have to work harder

I wore this one to work yesterday. I don’t dress up for Halloween, but I thought it would be a good day for purple lipstick, so I came up with this look to wear with MAC’s Heroine lipstick.

Eyes: NYX Proof It Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer, then my beloved and adored Diorshow Backstage Cool Eyeshadow Palette (Ombre as transition, Matte Pink on lid and brow bone, Matte Mauve in crease, Matte Plum in outer V). Then I tight-lined my upper lashline with Marc Jacobs Blaquer highliner (I wish they were thinner), and used NYX Worth the Hype Mascara.

Brows: My brows are extremely sparse and have bald spots. I start by rubbing the same NYX primer into my eyebrow, then, before it dries, I do a basic shape and fill-in with hair-like strokes using the Diorshow Brow Styler 04 (the primer makes it go on super smoothly), then I go over it lightly with Clinique Brow Shaper to soften the look. That was kind of hard to describe, but it comes out looking so natural that people don’t realize that my natural brows are so awful. Actually, I did that backwards…I do my brows before my eyes.

I used a lot of my regulars on my face: Estée Lauder Double Wear Makeup, Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, Laura Mercier Secret Blurring Powder for Under Eyes, RCMA No Color Powder, Diorskin Nude Luminizer in Pink Glow on cheekbones and inner eye corners, and NARS Orgasm Blush.

Seraphine,
I am going to have to try your brow routine. Following my chemotherapy my brows did not fully return and I have big gaps in my brows. I have tried hair growing serum and while it works well for the hair I have left, it has done nothing for the bald spots. I didn’t really expect it to since those hair follicles are dead from the chemo. I have been playing with the idea of getting micro-blading but am scared that I will get someone who doesn’t know what they are doing and I will end up with weird brows or too dark brows. It is also expensive. The way my brows grew back I have a lot of space between my crease and my brow which I really hate since it looks weird with eye shadow. I am going to give this a try. Thank you.

Yup, my brows are victims of chemo, too. Big gaps, no tails.

A few tips: Make sure the Dior pencil and Clinique powder match. With the Dior pencil, if you haven’t used it, be super careful because it breaks easily. Only swivel iout a tiny bit and use a very light hand. Do one brow at a time—rub the primer in and use the pencil before it fully dries, while it’s still tacky. I use a MAC 266S brush with the Clinique powder because the brush it comes with is a bit thick.

It took awhile for me to get this process down, but it works well for me, I sometimes just use the Clinique powder by itself over the primer to save money because the Dior is so expensive. This is when the little brush it comes with comes in handy.

I hope this works for you, too!

I have put your Dior eyeshadow palette on the back burner for so long. I’m not a palette person, but I just might take the plunge with this one. So many nice shades in one travel-friendly case. I ❤ that idea.

Yesterday, I took out an old palette – the Aqualillies for Tarte palette – and used the colours Sundeck, Hammock and Parasol on my lids. GOSH Metallic Brass (I think – it could have been Sephora Cappuccino) to line and Marc Jacobs skinny pencil to tightline. Dior foundation, MAC Sweet Sentiment blush and Craving lipstick. Quick and easy look and my eyes looks so nice…just the sort of look I’m always striving for.

Whatever the heck I put together yesterday! Problem is that I moved around between at least 3, maybe 4 eyeshadow palettes to get a GORGEOUS sunset type eye look! I do know that I used ColourPop Come And Get It on my entire mobile lid, and it just made my eyes look so bright! Had MAC Sweet Visions as my blush with Fenty Metal Moon to highlight, MAC Heaux lipstick (Amplified formula) on my lips. I just looked in the mirror and *felt* pretty!

Last look at all that I loved: I volunteer with the elderly and for our Halloween themed session I went dressed as Dame Edna (the female persona of an Australian comedian). I got a surprising number of compliments given that I’d aimed for breaking all the rules! I applied a slightly too dark shade from my eyeshadow/ eyebrow palette (from Smashbox Photo Matte eyes), black (UD Zero) eyeliner slightly winged, and over a base of Nyx Jumbo Eye pencil in Peacock I used the green and darker purple from Too Faced Glitter Goals to create a seriously over the top eye, smudged a charcoal grey into the crease and under the eye, and put Nyx Jumbo Pencil in Cashmere as a brow highlight, plus Urban Decay Shag as a (deliberately) terribly applied inner eye highlight. I then used Urban Decay Trash Talk as a blush (I’m fair cool-neutral, so help me) with glitter on top (I was specifically asked about my fantastic blush, lol) and applied a fake mole with a dab of concealer I accidentally bought in the wrong shade, the edges smudged out with Urban Decay Combust with Urban Decay Demolition as the tip/ hair. I used a pinky-nude lipstick just a bit outside of my natural lip line and Boots No 7 lipstick in Soft Paprika (a true red). I topped it off by adding wings off my glasses made out of black cardboard with tiny rhinestone stickers (and an utterly mad outfit).
My last favourite in looking like a normal person… UD 24/7 liner in Whiskey, Naked 2 Tease into Verve with Naked from Naked 1 on the crease and into Combust from Smokey (it was important or else I wouldn’t have swapped around palettes so much!), Nyx High Definition blush in Amber, and UD Vice in Afterdark (that and Love Drunk are probably my very favourite lipsticks at the moment). I wore this with a teal green pencil dress.

I have to say that all of the eye looks I have done with the Pat McGrath Mothership V have exceeded my expectations. I don’t even remember what shades I used for the looks as I have just been playing around but it is hard to come up with any combination that does not work. I have been doing a lot of pink based looks recently and never thought I would like that on my eyes but using the shade Blitz Flame has helped me develop a liking for the effect of a little pink. When I picked up the MotherShip V I also picked up an eye liner pencil in Blitz Brown and it is perfect for using very thinly against my lash line so that I don’t look sick from the pink. I also have done very simple eye looks based on Korean makeup using just a little glitter or glimmer on the mobile lid, a very light shading with a matte shade, Omega by MAC, and more glimmer the lower lash line. Normally I like the look of very spiky eyelashes but I have also been trying a more minimalist look also per the Korean makeup trends and I don’t think that part is for me, LOL. I have been using the Jill Stuart blushes that I bought last year and trying a little ombre effect on my lips. Mind you, this is all playing and not sure it is ready for a debut but just some of the things I have been playing with lately.

I was really happy with my Halloween look, and color-crazy me would be happy to wear it any day. I used UD Thrash (to go with my The NIghtmare Before Christmas dress) and Freak in the crease and wrapped around the outer corner of the eye, UD Gonzo on the lower lashline, Violet Voss Indigo on the lid (with Flamingo tapped over it in the center). ABH HL in Lucky Clover on the browbone and Blue Moon on the inner corner. UD Eye Pencil in Perversion on upper and lower waterlines. Pacifica Dream Big Mascara. LIPS — Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Weirdo. CHEEKS — Wet n Wild Zombie Blush and Looxi Beauty HL in Voodoo.

Sorry, not an answer, however I have a question. What is a really great eyeshadow palette with more shimmers than anything else and features a lighter pink shade? I don’t wear a lot of makeup but I am looking to buy an eyeshadow palette instead of switching back and forth between the few that I do have. Thank you!

Oh Christine, if I had only seen that eye look before Halloween I would have done my eyes exactly like that! Stunning! Wow! I will know to go through your looks for next year.

Yesterday I delved into a bit of a pink look and got so many compliments!! I usually go bronze/gold toned but really loved how easy and fresh this look was, and that it’s a more toned down version of the pink trend going around. I patted Haze super shock shadow by Colourpop all over the lid and took it up a bit above the crease. Then I took six in the city super shock shadow and patted it into the outer corners to add a bit of depth and warmth. For the cheeks I contoured and bronzed with a light hand and used tarte’s blush in authentic and highlight in worthy from last year’s blush bazaar. Finished it off with hot gossip by Mac on the lips.

I’m no expert on applying eyeshadows only dream of the day, aternnon sunset, night or midnight when I finally discover I got it right. Lol! But I keep trying. I liked the results when experimenting with the raver color in Mac Raver Girl (git as a gift in Canada first time trying Mac so excited!) so I wore raver on eyelid, drew a smudge soft line on crease then on rest of upper eyelids the flasbeams bronze softened to the crease and hazel eyes popped! Actually those two colors work great with green eyes I’ll repeat the last discovery.

Sadly, I’ve been having skin issues and not up to doing much. So it’s been a while since I’ve done a look I really really enjoyed. I’m thinking I may play it safe and look at a few of your looks and try to copy one just to get the makeup mojo back. 😉
