Blitz Gold

Pat McGrath Blitz Gold BlitzTrance Lipstick ($38.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a bright, medium gold with strong, warm yellow undertones and a glittering, sparkling finish. It seemed to have a mix of larger sparkle and micro-glitter with a translucent base, so it had more medium coverage that was buildable to semi-opaque coverage. The base was rather emollient, and I found that as I tried to build up color, more product would pull into my lip lines and didn’t go on as evenly as I would have liked, though it wasn’t noticeable in person as there was so much shine ad and sparkle. The texture was noticeably glittery, so while it didn’t tug on my lips, I could feel the edges of the glitter/sparkle as I applied it and certainly could feel/tell it was an overtly glittery product on my lips while worn. It wore well for five hours and was hydrating while worn.

Formula Overview

$40.00/0.13 oz. - $307.69 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to have "one-stroke colour" with "ultra-reflective pearls" paired with a "silky" and "creamy" texture that yields "multi-dimensional shine." The pigmentation varied from shade to shade with more medium to semi-opaque pigmentation that "full coverage," and the amount of shimmer/glitter also varied significantly from to shade. For example, Blitz Trance has a very glittery look on the lips, whereas Flesh Fatale had a subtle, sparkling finish. They had a lot of shine, though, with being wet in feel or all that glossy, which seemed to linger for longer than the average lipstick--the shine didn't immediately dull after taking a sip of something or talking for a few minutes.

The consistency was lightly creamy with moderate slip, but it didn't feel too thick or heavy, so the color didn't slide around on my lips and adhered evenly for the most part. Shades that were more glittery felt that way in the tube as I applied them to my lips with the glitter being less noticeable on my lips, though those who may be more sensitive to glitter may find it at least somewhat apparent--at the very least, this formulation is not disguising the texture of all that sparkly goodness. They were lightly to moderately hydrating, comfortable to wear, and lasted between three and five hours. I feel like the best way to sum these up as: they're sparkling and luminous with medium, buildable color payoff that lasts an average length of time. They did not have any scent or taste from what I could tell!

Nude Romantique

Pat McGrath Nude Romantique BlitzTrance Lipstick ($38.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a soft, coral-red with warm undertones and multi-colored pearl and larger sparkle. This was one of the least sparkly shades in the range; it had more of a soft, pearlescent sheen than overtly glittery finish. It felt a bit smoother and creamier as well with less noticeable texture coming through from the sparkle/glittery bits. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that was slightly buildable, but while the color applied evenly, but there was a touch of product that gathered in my lip lines the more I tried to build up coverage. This shade stayed on well for four and a half hours and was moisturizing while worn.

Cyber Orchid

Pat McGrath Cyber Orchid BlitzTrance Lipstick ($38.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a deep fuchsia pink with cool undertones and a mix of fuchsia and lighter pink sparkle and finer pearl. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied evenly and smoothly across my lips in a fluid motion. The lipstick was lightweight with creaminess and an emollient feel, but it didn’t feel slippery or heavy on, so I didn’t feel like it moved around too much during wear. I could just barely feel the texture of having all that sparkle in the formula when I applied it to my lips, and if I pressed my lips together firmly, I could tell there were shimmers/fine sparkles on my lips. It never felt gritty or rough to me, but I knew I had larger shimmer/sparkle on my lips, and I didn’t have any issues with the glitters/sparkles migrating to parts unknown. This shade had better application with decent coverage, and it’s real “downside” was that it didn’t live up to the claim of full coverage. It did wear nicely for five hours and was lightly hydrating over time.

I am surprised that I am liking Nude Romantique as much as I do. I usually don’t even think about these shades as they are not pigmented enough on their own to completely cover my more pigmented lips. I think this one is beautiful and one I will check out in person. No surprise I like Cyber Orchid and for the life of me I can’t remember why I didn’t pick it up when I bought Rebel Red and Club Kid. Must have had a senior moment, LOL.

I have been contemplating getting the nude duo nude romantique and flesh fatale and I think I am convinced. Nude romantique is gorgeous and I am not a nude lipstick kind of girl but these look incredible. I have cyber orchid and club kiss and I really love them. They leave my lips so moisturized and just love the way they feel on my lips

These remind me of the Too Faced Throwback lipsticks but not as crazy pigmented and intense. Do you think they are similar? I am loving Nude Romantique on you.
