Shimmer! Or being too orange
My deal-breakers are if it looks muddy over yellow-leaning foundation, if it doesn’t have a red undertone to it, and if it is expensive because I don’t expect to use what I have!! ?
For me it would be super shimmery bronzers
Anything too orange toned. I don’t want to look like that Cheeto dude!
Also, anything sparkley or glittery, either. I prefer matte or satin finish bronzers, or better yet: bronzey blushes. Which is why I love the copper shade in the holiday Copper Face Duo by MAC, and still patiently awaiting Taraji Glow, too. Those are both more my type of bronze!
Shimmer, glitter, orangeyness and muddiness.
1) Cream formula. 2) Too dark or too orange. 3) Any shimmer or glitter. 4) Heavy floral or perfume fragrance. 5) Poor texture: Chalky, patchy, streaky, or hard to blend.
Rachel R, I forgot all about texture in my above deal breakers! I hate patchiness, streakiness, et al, in literally EVERYTHING. TY for reminding me!
Agree on the texture…that should be a given with any product. I don’t know too many of us that will use a product if we hate the texture.
Anything blotchy and orange is a no-no. I don’t mind shimmer, but don’t want to be a disco-ball either. In reality though, I most of the time only use a very soft contour shade since I have no tan whatsoever and a warm tan face only makes my head detach from my body.
If it’s patchy or hard to blend. Those qualities almost guarantee that a bronzer will look dirty or stripy.
i don’t like very orange bronzers with so much sparkle. i love the slightly warm toned ones with a hint of shimmer , these give my skin a beautiful bronzey glow that can be so natural.
I do not like bronzer that looks orange on me.
One more thing… I prefer matte bronzers
100% agree!!!
Amen to that. This is one product I prefer to be sheer!
Too orange, too shimmery, too matte. I actually don’t use bronzer very much. On the rare occasions when I feel like my makeup needs some warming up, I’ll use Hourglass ambient lighting powder in radiant light. I used to use Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil like a contour, but now I use a contour powder (Kevyn Aucoin) or a Make Up For Ever Artist eyeshadow/blush in a coolish taupe shade.
No oompa loompa or Cheetos orange, thank you. Some glow or shimmer but not too much.
Deal Breakers
too shimmery = too ashy for my dark skin
price – I’m not using this every day so no way in sam hockey sticks am I paying more than $10 (my drug store brand has outlasted the best of the best!)
Colors – I’m not wearing green highlighter and spending $20 on it, that’s foolish so respectable and useable colors would be preferred.
Scent Free – I don’t need my cheeks and T-bone smelling like roses or vanilla
Cream – I just don’t understand why, lol, it’s creamy, it’s messy, it’s just too much to deal with and doesn’t apply evenly on everyone or every skin tone
Glitter – I’m 34 so…lol plus sitting in a board meeting with glittery cheeks isn’t ideal for me
Too pigmented or too dark! I like a sheerer bronzer that can be built up.
Orange-y and too shiny/glittery are my non-starters.
I don’t like when bronzers are too red and too shimmery! I don’t mind a little bit of sheen, but if I can see specks of glitter, game over.
Too dark for my NC25 skin tone, muddy looking, so orange it looks like blush, patchy, hard to blend, matte.
I like, reddish toned shimmery bronzers!! I like to wear bronzer almost like blush!!
I only own one matte bronzer, and I use that to shape my face. It’s the one from the IT cosmetics face disk. And I like that!!
I don’t wear bronzers, but I would say that nothing that turns out orange or too shimmery.
I never wear bronze and own two but If I did it would have to be a neutral shade without any orange.
I meant to say bronzer not bronze.
Too dark, orange undertones, blotchy, muddy looking
I like sheer, cool-toned, & as natural as possible.
anything that is not the too faced chocolate soliel bronzer! I don’t like anything shimmery, and this bronzer has the perfect undertone for me, blends beautifully, has the right amount of pigment, and lasts all day! I don’t feel the need to try or buy any other bronzer
Anything orange.
too orange and definatly shimmer or EEK!! GLITTER. thats a NO NO NO…oh and rough texture. bronzers for me need to be a nice blend of cool to warm leaning a touch warmer and matte is my favorite. i dont really mind a slight sheen (satin) to get a healthy sunkissed glow.
I’m fair, and most bronzers look muddy on me. What I use for bronzer is Hourglass Ambient Light in Dim Light.
Bronzer is a go-to for me, as I love to be tan all year long. So not too sparkly. Not so matte that it looks dirty. I hate a bronzer that makes me look dirty, and there are some out there. My favorite ever was a Revlon powder bronzer that had 4 matte shades in the compact. Pretty sure it was Revlon PhotoReady. It got discontinued 🙁 but I bought 4 on Ebay. Not sure where any of them are at the moment though, so I had to upgrade to Chanel. I am at the very end of this one…hit pan months ago. Do I spend another 60 and get a replenishment?
I’m pale so nothing dark, too orange, red, yellowish. Prefer a very light coverage don’t mind a teeny bit of sheen but no disco ball either. I’m loving my WetnWild ticket to Brazil it is a perfect match almost invisible very fine it goes. The other Cabana is way too light to me it doesn’t work as a bronzer instead as face powder. To my surprise found this ColorMate brand bronzer in Big Lots so super cheap it is a bit darker but really good and super cheap! Going back to get another one if not already gone. Id like to get one many are agreeing is awesome also the buttery bronzer from Physians Formula. Just tried bronzer this year as my skin needs it and loving it how healthy it makes me look.
