Walking on Eggshells

Wet ‘n’ Wild Walking on Eggshells Color Icon Eyeshadow Quad ($2.99 for 0.16 oz.) contains lighter, neutral shades in a slim compact. This color combination would be ideal for lighter skin tones and someone who prefers warmer, more shimmery shades (three of the four are shimmery). They are decent over primer, but they were a miss without (and the brand marketed the formula as having new and improved staying power, along with blendability and pigmentation).

Walking on Eggshells #1

Walking on Eggshells #1 is a light-medium brown with warm, yellow undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that wasn’t buildable on its own, but it was more opaque when applied over a primer. The consistency was soft, velvety, and a little powdery in the pan but blended out with ease. This shade wore well for seven hours on me.

Formula Overview

-

The formula is supposed to be "powerfully pigmented" with a "butter-soft" texture that "glides on like a dream." The majority of the eyeshadows are on the drier side, sometimes feeling loosely pressed and other times more chalk-like and truly dry to the point where a primer became a must for getting good adhesion and wear out of the formula. Most of the matte shades were quite pigmented, and I found they actually applied better to bare skin than some of the shimmers, which often appeared faded and muted in practice compared to how they appeared in the pan. The pigmentation varied from decent to mostly opaque depending on the shade, and the wear was typically between five and seven hours on me.

I did not keep most of the previously-released trios and palettes from the brand as mine, but when I compared 2018's formula to the prior one (and mine are likely five or more years old), the previous formula was far better for their shimmers--slightly more slip, creamier in feel, and typically more pigmented and true-to-color on the lid. I think the mattes, overall, are improved as they are more blendable and pigmented on the lid.

Walking on Eggshells #2

Walking on Eggshells #2 is a light beige with warm, yellow undertones and a frosted sheen. It had good color coverage, though it wasn’t opaque, that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out without issue. The texture as drier in the pan, but I didn’t notice the impact as much in practice. The eyeshadow started to fade noticeably on me after six hours of wear.

Walking on Eggshells #3

Walking on Eggshells #3 is a medium brown with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. The pigmentation was nearly opaque, while the consistency was soft, smooth, and just a touch on the drier side. I found it easy to apply to the lid, but it needed a primer for longevity and maintaining the vibrancy of the shade itself; it was faded within six hours on its own.

Walking on Eggshells #4

Walking on Eggshells #4 is a light peach with warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had excellent color payoff in a single layer, which applied evenly to bare skin and blended out nicely. The texture was soft and smooth without being too dry or too firmly pressed in the pan. It wore well for seven hours on me.

The older version is incredible. This looks like a step down. I will probably repurchase though, still looks ok for the price, just not as amazing.
