Wet 'n' Wild Reserve Your Cabana Bronzer Review, Photos, Swatches

Wet 'n' Wild Reserve Your Cabana Bronzer
Wet ‘n’ Wild Reserve Your Cabana Bronzer

Wet ‘n’ Wild Reserve Your Cabana Bronzer ($3.99 for 0.46 oz.) is a soft, golden beige with a luminous sheen. Illamasqua Aurora (P, $24.00) is more shimmery. Chanel Jardin de Camelias (LE, $65.00) is less shimmery, lighter. Burberry Nude Radiance No. 01 (P, $48.00) is lighter. Becca Moonstone (P, $38.00) is more shimmery, darker. Becca Moonstone (P, $41.00) is less pigmented. Kevyn Aucoin Candlelight (P, $44.00) is more shimmery, lighter. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

This highlighter isn’t new, but when they originally launched, I couldn’t find this shade, and the other day I was at the drugstore and was reminded about it and picked one up to try–and I’m so glad I did. The texture of this powder is exceptionally smooth, almost creamy, with a finely-milled consistency that doesn’t get powdery at all. It has a really fine shimmer that translates into a glowing sheen, rather than noticeable shimmer, and it never turns frosty. It seemed nearly impossible to over-apply as a result! The resulting finish is absolutely beautiful, and it wears a solid eight hours.

What?! You only get to review this NOW?? But I’m glad this one got the perfect score(aka Temptalia approved!!)!! I think it’s official, this one is a #musthave!! T

sheena Avatar

oh! I was actually pleasantly surprised you still took your time to review this amidst all the crazy make up releases, I thought you’d focus more on new products, not that I’m complaining! I always admire you’re dedication and passion to what you do!! More power Christine!!

Christine Avatar

I was going to say maybe they didn’t want to bother with a new formula name since it was released alongside the two more typically-hued bronzer shades, but then @Ani_BEE mentioned it is her pale girl bronzer, so sounds like Wet ‘n’ Wild just made sure to cover all bases!

ElKay Avatar

I’ve used this for a long time now. I love it. I actually reach for it over my Chanel, Burberry and Becca highlighters. I always travel with it. Maybe because it can be easily replaced.

Erin Avatar

Are my eyes deceiving me? I log into my favorite makeup website and the first post is a review of my favorite product!

I think the real appeal of this product is as a finishing powder rather than a highlighter. Every time I use it as a finishing powder, I get so many compliments on my skin. I have gone through so many. It’s a big ego stroke!

Nancy T Avatar

That’s exactly how I would want to use this, as a finishing powder. I am medium bordering on tan with olive/yellowish undertones for reference, not sure if our skintones are close or not?

Nancy T Avatar

I took the plunge and bought this last night. When I got home, I took my big kabuki brush and dusted this on my outer forearm which is darker than my face, and it actually looked REALLY good! Pleasantly surprised, because my upper chest and limbs get darker despite my using spf! So I was actually applying this on the equivalent of NC42-ish!

Amanda Avatar

It works out well as a finishing powder for me. I’m between and NC15 and NC20 (I mix both foundations together). It makes me look like I’m glowing from within. I need to pick this up for my friends!

Katherine T. Avatar

This is my fave bronzer ever! 99% of bronzers look too warm, dark, muddy, or orange on my fair/light skin, but not this one. I can apply all over with a big brush, and it’s almost impossible to over do. Gives a light, very natural glow. And it’s a HUGE pan for only $4 and has SPF15 !

Teresa T. Avatar

Love it! It reminds me of their once holy grail highlighter that everyone loved called All Over Shimmer. Thanks so much for testing this cheap find for us.

Ammara Avatar

Hi, what shade are you in the MUFE HD foundation? I’m pretty sure my colouring is very similar to yours, so it would be nice to have an idea what shade would suit me. Also, have you tried the Cover FX Illuminating Setting Powder? I need a setting powder for undereye concealer and that one has rave reviews online. If not, is there one you would recommend?

Ginny Avatar

I’ve always kinda wanted this, and even though it’s only like 3 bucks it’s kind of bulky and I figured it would just take up space and I wouldn’t use it over my high end stuff (like Nars Nico). I’m definitely getting it now. Since it’s not too shimmery I’ll add it to my everyday routine as a blush topper. What brush do you apply it with?

Baily Avatar

I use this as a setting powder and it makes my complexion look glowy and warm not shiny or glittery. I flippin’ love it so much

GK Avatar

They call it bronzer, but it’s a highlight? It’s hard to find W & W here. My Target, Ulta & Walmart don’t have much. It looks beautiful on you & you gave it an A-I have to get it!!

Amara Avatar

I agree with Erin. This is great as a highlighter as well as a finishing powder when you take a light hand. I use it like my Hourglass Diffused Light Powder just to add that nice glow to the skin.

Taylor Avatar

I was hesitant on buying this every time I saw it in the store because it was marked as a bronzer and knowing with my tan skin it would look like flour! Now I now that its a highlighter, I might have to go the cvs and pick this up!

Kat Avatar

*Sprints to my nearest Walgreens* I’m so excited to try this! I’ve been trying to find a powder highlighter more subtle than the Becca Pressed formula, and I really like the shade of Becca Moonstone, so this looks perfect. And the price is so, SO right!

Nancy T Avatar

GORGEOUS!!! I have been looking for a luminous finishing/setting powder for summer, something that won’t dull the beauty of the GA FS 14 mixed with Tarte Med. Honey foundation combo I’m using. Not sure if this could work for that purpose or not? Also, is it too light for my skintone or not?

Nancy T Avatar

I think I’m going to give it a go, and if it is too light, I will gibe it to my daughter. She is lighter than me, around your coloring NC25-30.

Jessica Avatar

I don’t know that I would call this a bronzer or a highlighter, but it sort of works for both things if you’re pale. I use this sparingly to set my foundation in the summertime when I want to maintain a bit of dew. It looks very naturally pretty, and while it isn’t dark in color, it does somehow give off a sunkissed sort of glow. I actually prefer this to some of the hourglass shades I’ve tried :X

Alison Avatar

i absolutely love reserve your cabana I use it as a highlighter also I apply it as a base over my eye primer it helps to blend shadows really well it’s a super product

Flaky Avatar

can’t live without this product!

Tarababyz on YouTube lists this almost every video – she uses it on her neck. I gave it a try & urge anyone fair to medium to do the same. It’s like a magic trick ! It blurs out all my “chicken skin” and I swear my neck looks 10 years younger. As a bonus, there’s a little spf coverage.

Anne Avatar

I absolutely LOVE this powder!!!!! I learned of it from tarababyz on utube. I’m so glad you like it as well. The price doesn’t in any way, shape or form reflect it’s quality.

Kirsten Avatar

Aha! I was looking for this in the store and I might have passed it over because I was looking for a highlighter and not a bronzer! Thanks for the info. Now I’ll go back and look for the right thing.

Dawn Avatar

I LOVE this product – by itself as a light bronzer/highlighter, or sometimes I’ll use a big fluffy brush and mix this with Chanel Les Beiges powder and apply all over as a finishing powder – freaking AWESOME on days when I just feel like my skin is looking kind of dull.

_An_ Avatar

Glad to see this review and super glad this “bronzer” got such a good grade!

I’m pretty sure I have this already….or maybe I’ve been eyeing this product so long that I thought i owned it by now! Eek. Must hunt this down. 😀

Tessa Avatar

Maybe this is a long shot, but would you know how close (if at all) this is to MAC Sunsparked Pearl? I’ve never found a similar highlighter/bronzer for us palefaces I loved as much as that…

I suspect Sunsparked Pearl is peachier, but maybe for $4 I’ll just try it regardless.

Tessa Avatar

So I stopped by CVS and picked up one of these. Most importantly, I LOVE it. What a find, for the price!

But also… I swatched them next to each other and they are, to my eye, close! Sunsparked Pearl is absolutely rosier, and on my skin the difference is maybe more apparent, but they’re really not that far off each other. They’re about the same lightness/sheeniness (totally a word… right?) — though Reserve Your Cabana is better pigmented and creamier.

Of course, MAC did that super frustrating thing of releasing Sunsparked Pearl in various different collections in different formats, so it’s possible the one in my possession is not the same as yours. Wouldn’t be the first time different batches diverge significantly! Can’t make it too easy on makeup geeks, I guess… 🙂

CeeBee Avatar

I’ve had this for a while and I LURVE it – if I’m going for a glam evening look, I sometimes use this as a finishing powder and it looks amazing in low light situations. Glad you love it too!

Cat Avatar

About a month ago, I saw this (somewhere) when I was out with my oldest daughter. I picked it up. I held it in my hand. I put it back!!! I didn’t realize it was also a sunscreen or I would have purchased it!

Dani Avatar

It’s noted that this can be purchased at Ulta, but I just wanted to clarify that it can’t. I haven’t seen the brand at any story near me or in the surrounding states. Plus I work for Ulta and we don’t carry the brand as a whole.

My Walgreens was $5.79 across the street at Kmart it was $3.99, that life in New York City for you
Bought 3 sending 2 out to my nieces with your review
Thank you

…Wet n’ Wild made something recently that didn’t get an F? I don’t understand…

I’m pleased, but I don’t understand…

Kulsum Avatar

I’m so pleasantly surprised to see a review of this product from you!
I actually saw Kathleen Lights use this and say good things about it and immediately I wanted to have it…
I googled to see reviews and there it was!!! Review by Tamptalia!!
Now I want this all the more!!
Thank you!!!

You are so awesome Temptalia! Thanks for all you do! I picked this up and am really liking it. My HG is the Kevyn Aucoin candlelight, but I hate paying for it. Being able to compare it in your swatches was so helpful.
