Minxette

Viseart Minxette Etendu Palette ($44.00 for 0.63 oz.) is a new, warm-toned neutral palette with a mix of matte and shimmer finishes. You’ll want to check the below list for overlap if you’re someone with a more extensive Viseart stash as a lot of shades–at least technically!–are from previous released palettes.

Some of the matte shades were a little more powdery, whether that meant prone to some fallout or sheering out, but they were blendable and easy to work with. For someone who typically wears primer and does eyes prior to base, I imagine these wouldn’t be deal-breakers. Most of the shimmer shades were very pigmented, creamy, and blendable but a couple were underwhelming.

Muse Beauty listed where each shade came from, so here’s the information summarized — I wish I knew why the names don’t get reused as it makes it more confusing to follow!

  • Peche II, Suede, Sable are from Minx
  • Savarin is from Warm Mattes, which was also released as the single Brioche, though they are quite different
  • Cognac is from Grande Pro Vol. 3, which was named Toasted
  • Ember is from Golden Hour, which was named Palais
  • Apricot is from Siren, though they’re not the same
  • Chocolat II is from Grande Pro Vol. 1, which was also released as the single Chocolate, though they are dissimilar
  • Cointreau is from Siren, which is also in the Dark Edit palette named Burnished Copper
  • Roseus, Mahogany, Hannah are new

Peche II

Peche II is a light-medium peach with strong, warm orange undertones and a matte finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage with a moderately powdery consistency, though certainly finely-milled and blendable. There was fallout during application and a tendency to wash out other shades if was applied over/above darker matte shades. It wore well for seven and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Formula Overview

-

The eyeshadow formula is supposed to be "pigment[ed]" with "smooth and even application" that is "long-lasting." The matte shades are typically semi-opaque to opaque but buildable with soft, velvety textures that can sometimes be a little powdery or slightly firm, depending on the shade. I find that the mattes are often best suited to someone who likes control over pigmentation and may prefer to build up color; they regularly perform better in practice than just swatched on the arm as well.

The shimmer shades range from satin to metallic, and the more metallic shades tend to feel creamier to the touch, while the satin ones have a fine pearl to them that looks almost melted on the lid once blended out. Both the mattes and shimmers are blendable and easy to work with. Most of Viseart's eyeshadows wear between seven and nine hours on me.

Suede

Suede is a light copper with strong, warm undertones and a bright, metallic finish. The eyeshadow had rich pigmentation with a smooth, lightly creamy consistency that wasn’t too firmly pressed into the pan, so it picked up well with a dry brush and had good adhesion to bare skin. It lasted well for eight and a half hours before fading a bit.

Ember

Ember is a brighter, more orange-copper with strong, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had rich color payoff paired with a firmer, slightly stiffer texture that needed a heavier hand to get product to translate evenly on the brush. It could have adhered more evenly, too, as there was light fallout unless I applied it with a fingertip. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Mahogany

Mahogany is a faded, brownish-plum with moderate, warm undertones and a satin finish. The texture was moderately powdery with a noticeable dryness to it, and it seemed thinner, too, which all resulted in some fallout during application. It had more semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation but performed better over a primer than on its own. This shade showed signs of fading after seven and a half hours of wear.

I should love this – it’s definitely in my wheelhouse and while I have lots of similar shades already, that’s never really stopped me before 😉 I adore the look of it in the actual palette but the swatches don’t really excite me, unfortunately.

Gonna leave this one on the shelf, I think.

Hmmm, two of the three new shades are the worst scoring. Not a good sign. This will probably appeal to newer Viseart fans, but I suspect many of your readers are covered by previous V palettes, or dupes in stash.

I don’t own any Viseart palette (yet), and this one…boy. I can see so many looks coming out of it! These sorts of shades are exactly my style.

However, I’m starting my low-buy early, and I’m sure I have shades just like this in my collection…so once they’re panned, I’ll look at this differently. But what a pretty palette!

To me, this is a lovely travel autumnal palette and I think I would have seriously considered this if Roseus was better as that as the type of shade I’m drawn to these days. In the end, it would irritate me too much so better that I’m not.

I was going to label this as one that performs well (always good to see) but which is way too warm for me. Suede is nice but very dupe-able and then I looked at Chocolate II and Mahogany and I’m loving those (and what has happened to me, fairly suddenly, with loving all those deep burgundy/brown shades like Mahogany?)

No kidding, Dupe City! I own Warm Mattes, Siren, Minx, Golden Hour, and what wasn’t covered by that had surprise Natasha Denona, Pat McGrath, MAC, NARS, Huda, Juvia’s, even Wet N Wild and BH Cosmetics dupes that were spot on!!
I love Viseart, but this is a real “shop your stash” situation. I’ve never even seen a 98% dupe ‘til today, lol.
I really want to compare this in the palette vs. palette feature on this blog to Viseart Spritz Edit and Natasha Denona Bronze Palette.
It is beautiful, though! Obviously, I would say that because I own about 4 iterations of every shade.

Have either all of the original colors in other Viseart palettes, or enough dupes that are close enough to not need this. Again, am not impressed with Viseart’s marketing tactics here. Just clearly promote it as re-released colors with the addition of a few new colors. Keep the names, identify the palettes for each re-release, and let buyers decide if they want/need this based on what they all ready own and/or personal purchase preference, please. Viseart is my go-to eyeshadow formula, but I would be very unhappy to purchase repeats in a new palette, expecting them to be different than what I all ready own.
