Urban Decay Stix and Bones Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner

Stix and Bones

Urban Decay Stix and Bones Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner ($20.00 for 0.25 oz.) is a shimmer base of blackened plum with warm, brown undertones and larger flecks of green, plum, and copper glitter. It had semi-sheer coverage, which was somewhat buildable, but the darker base made it appear more uneven and patchy when used on its own. When layered over something deeper (like brown or black eyeliner), it looked sparkly and pretty. This shade stayed on well for nine hours with minimal fallout.

Formula Overview

$21.00/0.25 oz. - $84.00 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to be "buildable" with "superfine glitter" that "dries down quickly and really stays put." For more opaque coverage, the brand recommends removing the wiper (the black component inside the opening of the tube) to get a lot more product on the brush, though I've found this to be messy and easy to over-apply (with a very long dry-down time).

When the wiper is left in, it is a fairly sheer to semi-sheer coverage product that is difficult to get in a long, even line. My best advice is to apply in short strokes and going back for more product as needed or use a separate brush to apply. Once in place, the formula lasts a really long time--eight to nine hours--with minimal fallout.

Urban Decay Punk Rock Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner

Punk Rock

Urban Decay Punk Rock Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner ($20.00 for 0.25 oz.) is a medium-dark, plummy brown base of fine shimmer and larger, multi-colored glitter. It had semi-sheer coverage, which was in line with the brand’s description, that could be built up if the wiper was removed or if layered two to three times (wait for each layer to dry). The consistency was thin, watery but not too runny, and dried down quickly. The eyeliner wore well for nine hours with minimal fallout.

Urban Decay Gamma Ray Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner

Gamma Ray

Urban Decay Gamma Ray Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner ($20.00 for 0.25 oz.) is a mix of medium and navy blue glitter particles suspended in a clear base. The consistency was thin, lightweight, and water-like, and the brush-type applicator dispersed a fairly even line of semi-sheer glitter without much effort. It was buildable to fuller coverage, though it was easiest to used layered over an another product (eyeshadow or eyeliner). It lasted for eight and a half hours with minimal fallout.

I just don’t understand the price point on these as compared to the rest of the UD line. I believe their single shadows are $16, and their lipsticks are $18, right? For some reason the $2-4 difference feels really substantial to me.
