Urban Decay Radium Eyeshadow Review, Photos, Swatches

Urban Decay Radium Eyeshadow ($18.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “peacock blue shimmer.” It’s a bold, bright medium blue with cool undertones and a frosted finish. Buxom Bulldog is a touch darker and is a cream product. NYX Kiss in Casablanca is less frosted but very similar in color. MAC Pure Creation is darker, more muted, and a cream product.

This shade was once a palette-exclusive, but when Urban Decay reformulated their eyeshadows, it made it into their permanent range. It was one of my favorite shades then, and it’s one of my favorite shades now. The texture is soft, buttery, and dense; so smooth and intensely pigmented, Radium is a dream to work with. Whether you want rich color or need to blend it out to soften, both are easily achieved. It lasted a full nine hours on me without creasing or fading.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I’ve got Radium in BOS III and while I use it occasionally (with my brown eyes, it looks very pretty as a liner under my eyes), I much prefer Haight (in the same palette and I also have it in the Mariposa palette). I find Haight a bit more flattering or perhaps less scary to wear but I still do love Radium in small doses.

Hi! You have given A+ ratings to several products but not every one of them gets the “Temptalia Recommends” rating. Why is that? If a product gets a A+ rating, doesn’t that mean you love it very much and would recommend it? Thanks!

I love this color! Looks like it would be nice and bright over a white primer. I am a big UD fan, I am not usually disappointed in their colors, although I do not like their (or anyone’s) colors with glitter in it. Shimmer is all I need, no glittery mess.

This is my favorite eyeshadow ever. I’m so glad you liked it as much as I do. I don’t have the reformulated single though. I have it in the BOS 3 palette. I love to wear it when I’m wearing a hot pink or bright orange outfit. I have dark (about the color if cinnamon) skin, so it’s not too much.

I love this color, but the only thing is I find that UD eyeshadows have a ton of fallout. Did this one have any?
Thanks again for another great review!

Hi Christine, just a quick thank you for your patience and understanding–with nearly unlimited color variations and copious amounts of blending involved in any look, it’s easy to get lost among the simple words describing fairly complex things (here I am referring to myself of course).
It is my belief that everyone is a bit biased in how they see applied makeup, depending on personal technique, preference, eye shape, etc. It is easy to become ‘colorblind’ and clearly I am a fine example of that! So please do not feel discouraged by my confusion, I found a new addition to my wishlist (UD Peace) and learned to be more specific when posting a question (duh, assume less!)
I also really enjoy any review posts that include a ‘look’ photo, featuring the reviewed product along with other complementing colors (it inspires and sometimes is more telling then a swatch alone, especially for eyeshadow). Obviously any review is a time consuming process, so I don’t expect to find a bonus ‘look’ in every post, but it is a nice surprise when there is one.
I rarely comment (it’s probably for the best for everyone, lol), but always grateful for every reply or clarification. Oh and the new caption is just awesome 😉

No worries, Nitsa! I could have sworn I had it all typed out in at least one post so it’s really my fault for not having it listed – and Radium and Peace are both blues which just made it even more confusing! 🙂

Thank you so much for pointing it out so I could edit and update the posts for you and others!
