Urban Decay Purple Haze Eyeshadow

Urban Decay Purple Haze Eyeshadow ($17.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a vibrant grape purple with a matte finish. It’s officially described as a “bright purple.” Urban Decay’s matte eyeshadows are definitely underrated, and it’s a shame that the brand doesn’t include more of their matte formula in palettes and seasonal launches. It is similar to MAC Vibrant Grape but purpler and more vibrant.  Urban Decay’s matte formula is really smooth and richly pigmented without being chalky or difficult to blend.  Purple Haze is nice, with just a little excess powdery dust when applied, but it blends out nicely.

I am a fan of Urban Decay eyeshadows, but this seems like paying too much for a pretty generic colour.

If you like purple, have you tried UD’s Asphyxia?

This isn’t a colour that I think would look good on me but I do wish that, as they’re releasing new colours, they’d consider making Suspect a permanent, individual colour (and Darkhorse and Hustle, while they’re at it!)

Yeah ive been UPS tracking it along with my UD order.. Thet are both arriving within the next few days! So excited. I got the nail kit on Haute as well.

That’s a beautiful purple. Haven’t tried a matte purple before. Yea, I do hope they would include some matte shades in their future palettes, so that we could sample some of their matte shades instead of having to buy the individual eyeshadows. That’s what I feel.

I got a ton of UD matte eyeshadows from the Hautelook.com urban decay sale a few weeks ago. They are super soft and very pigmented! I <3 THEM!!

I have this shadow and it is really nice. The price tag of UD shadows makes it not worth it though. Fortunately, I got mine for $8 at a discount website.

If you look at the break out of points, it’s hard to get to an A- now. I’ve noticed that as I’ve gone through past reviews to bring them into the new system (and in rating products going forward), the majority of grades are dropping by 1/3 to 2/3 of a grade.

I love Urban Decay’s matte shadows! It’s probably my favorite matte formula, they never look chalky and they wear great! I think they’re underrated; UD hasn’t done a lot to promote the line. I’d love to see an all-matte palette! A lot of people complain about UD’s eyeshadows being too glittery or shimmery, but the line is actually very versatile. Thanks for sharing this one, it’s a lovely color!

I got this and Electric from HauteLook, they just got here a few days ago, can’t wait to try them out! I do wish they had a larger selection of matte colors though. Do you know any other brands that have a good selection? MAC isn’t easily available where I live.

Thanks for this review, I really like Urban Decay’s mattes, I have one of them in Electric (bright teal) so I’d definitely like to check more of them out.

Isn’t this discontinued, though? I heard UD was discontinuing their mattes and I think I saw this on Haute Look on the most recent sale.

I just got my UD order from Hautelook in the mail and this was one of the things I bought. I actually bought 5 of them because I was planning on giving them out as gifts, but now that I swatched 1 (for myself) I’m thinking this might be a little *too* bright. It’s so bizarre to me that UD unloads this stuff at Hautelook for $5/pop, but still charges full retail on their site. I understand if you’re discontinuing a product and you need to offload it, but otherwise it doesn’t make sense to me.

I love this shade…great for the weekend…it’s a bit too bright/dramatic for work. It works great as a liner, as well 🙂

I want to love Purple Haze, but when I tried it, it went on a sheer, streaky purplish pink. I tried to build it, but that just made it look worse. I returned it.

I was lucky enough to get this eyeshadow for free when I bought my NAKED Palette. They where having a promotion that if you spent more than 50 dollars on UD products your recieved a UD bag with an eyeshadow, some samples of UD products, and a mini eye primer. I was very excited!
