Urban Decay Oz Palettes: Glinda and Theodora Palettes
Urban Decay launches two insanely gorgeous limited-edition palettes that tie in with the live-action film release of Disney’s Oz The Great and Powerful, in theaters March 8, 2013. The film precedes L. Frank Baum’s beloved book “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” and tells the backstory of the wizard and the witches. Inspired by the movie’s enduring theme of good witch vs. bad witch (and the good witch/bad witch dichotomy in all of us), we created two collectible palettes loaded with beautiful, never-before-seen shades you’ll want to own. The
Glinda Palette and The Theodora Palette will enable fans to recreate makeup looks from the film step by step. We spent HOURS obsessively staring at images from the film (and not just the ones featuring its hot male lead, James Franco) to carefully craft the perfect mix of shades for these palettes. Get Michelle Williams’ ethereal, spellbinding look from Oz The Great and Powerful with The Glinda Palette or copy Mila Kunis’ captivating, edgy onscreen look with The Theodora Palette. Our Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows was so huge, it sold out in a matter of hours—and we’re ecstatic to collaborate with Disney again on Oz The Great and Powerful. Directed by Sam Raimi (the man behind the original Spider-Man trilogy), this spring powerhouse is a visual feast, filled with stunning cinematography, richly hued sets and gorgeous costumes. With all of that to inspire us—not to mention the bewitchingly beautifully Michelle Williams and the wickedly cool Mila Kunis—how could we go wrong?
Each palette comes in a sleek tin adorned with gorgeous Oz The Great and Powerful-inspired artwork, with “Urban Decay” and the name of the film in foil lettering. The Glinda Palette features a dreamy, celestial design awash in a sheer backdrop of pink, gold and peach, while The Theodora Palette features a moody, colorful skyscape flanked by Rorschach-like patterns. Both versions incorporate our Build Your Own Palette format for total versatility. When you finish the original shades (or whenever you get the urge to experiment), just pop them out and pop your favorite UD shadows into the cool collectible tin.
Both palettes have six pans and EIGHT ALL-NEW and exclusive Eyeshadows. Confused? We’ve included two “duo-shades” in each palette that are split in half, with a different color on each side of the pan. Of course, every shade features our Pigment Infusion System™, the proprietary blend of ingredients that gives every shade its velvety texture, rich color, serious staying power and blendability.

When will they come out and where are we able to purchase them? 🙂
Urbandecay.com has them now !!!
They’re available on UD now!
already available from urbandecay.com!
Thank you for answering but I’m living in Germany and they don’t shop to Germany 🙁 I hoped they would be available at hqhair.com
I don’t usually go for the movie tie-ins, but I love the Wizard of Oz so much that I am tempted by these!
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I can’t wait! I have been obsessing over these since I saw them a couple days ago. I love the fact that they use the new pan tray so I can switch them out.
I like the shades in Theodora, at least from the promo images, but neither looks like a must have to me. Of course the actual review photos always give a much more accurate idea of the product. 🙂
I love this concept. I am pretty sure that I will be getting “Glinda.” I really like the idea of being able to swap out some shades here with the BYOP I already have. And the packaging of these palettes are too cute!
I am soo excited for these! I want both but I think the Glinda one would be most suitable for me!
I’ve been super excited about this the past month. Great to know what the shade are. ^_^
I have to say I’m mostly interested in the Theodora Palette but the shade Illusion (Pale peach satin) sound and looks lovely.
Does anyone think these palettes are gonna go quick? I think I want the Theodora but I would rather go to Sephora or Ulta and see it in person first…
I wish Glinda had a matte shade like Theodora, but I am definitely purchasing one of these. I love how UD is taking a sophisticated route with better packaging and more logical color combos. I can’t wait for your swatches!
OMG I’m not suposed to buy more make-up but the Glinda Palette calls my name!
Loving the Glinda palette! Not sure if I’ll be able to swing the money but they are so cute!
I am excited for the Glinda one!! Hopefully I will have the $ to buy it when it comes out.
I can see the Theodora palette being much more popular do to color scheme
They are such beautiful palettes, but I’d love to see the swatches before purchasing!
We bought Glinda at Sephora last week….AMAZING!!!!!!
which one? I need it!
They are gorgeous. I am actually looking forward to them!
I definitely need to get them both. The Glinda palette doesn’t yell to me that I need it, but the packaging…
Both look amazing!! I don’t know if I can decide between the two of them. Looking forward to the review!
I’m excited but hesitant. I really want to see some swatches and dupe comparisons before I decide to buy it. I’m definitely thinking Glinda, because I don’t have a lot of lighter shades. Theodora I can easily replicate with my large stash of eyeshadow that I have now. The packaging is awesome tho, I like the idea of the duoshades.
I really like the Theodora palette. I hope I have an opportunity to grab this palette because I really wanted the Alice and Wonderland and it was sold out..
49 dollars seems like a bit much when I could get 12 eyeshadows in one of the naked for the same price, and they would all have their own pan, it appears that you’re getting a full size lip pencil, but idk, I guess if you’re really into the Wizard of Oz and stuff it’d be worth it, but for me it’s a bit to much.
You have to think of the cost if you attempted to recreate this palette on your own. $18/shadow would be $108 (if you purchased 6 singles. I did it that way since even if you cut the price of a single in half for each side of the duo shadows you would still come to the same $$$ amount) plus $18 for the refillable palette.
OMG the look amazing, I love both palettes but if I had to pick one I’d pick Theodora
I am all over that Glinda palette. I’m a huge fan of the Wizard of Oz series, especially Maguire’s spin off novels on it. 😀 I hope they’re as amazing as they look!
I think these will go quickly. I think I am just going to buy both as I know I will regret it if I miss out. The shadows are so pigmented and awesome. I know I don’t need more browns but so happy they are matte or satin – not tons of sparkle. The glinda is tempting because it will mix up what i already have.
Here I go, getting suckered in again by UD and their temptingly irresistible palettes. Can’t wait to see your comments and review, Christine, but I have the feeling I will really want both of these despite my better judgment! Theodora looks SO desirable but I also love the taupey beige shade in the Glinda palette.
I see both of these in my future!
Must have..can’t resist..
If they keep this up I am going to have to just start mailing my paycheck directly into them. Just when I think I’m done with Urban decay for a while they come out with all new colors for me to drool over.
Hahaha 😀
I like the idea of the half pan colors but frankly, neither of these sets excite me. I like the packaging but I’ll be passing.
They are available now at urbandecay.com!
i checked..it’s for sale right now on urban decay’s website. I placed an order for both pallets.
Does anyone have any idea when these are to be released in the UK? 🙂
I’m guessing February if they will be!
Due into Debenhams on the 4th Feb, I have put my name down on the waiting list so they should call me when they arrive 🙂
I had every intention of not purchasing any more shadows for awhile, but UD got me again lol. I ordered both. I wasn’t a fan of the brand when the Alice in Wonderland palette came out but I didn’t want to wait and see if it would be impossible to get my hands on these if I waited. I remember how difficult it was to get the original Naked palette and that one wasn’t advertised as LE. I might be one of the few people that purchase this yet isn’t excited about the movie or the theme of the palettes lol. I’m just an e/s addict!
Just ordered the Theodora palette which I was a bit apprehensive about because you hadn’t reviewed it yet but I was scared it was going to sell out :/ I hope I won’t regret it!
It’s super dumb that they used their clunky free-form palette system for a pre-made palette — while I like the idea of half-and-half shadows sold as “singles” (more for your money) I’d much rather see individual pans in something like this, and the part where you can change what’s in your palette is pointless to me when I’m getting it already filled.
Having said that, I am intrigued by the colors in the Glinda palette and I love that UD’s palettes always come with different non-shadow items.
Just ordered my Theodora Palette because I’m terrified of these selling out before they even launch from Sephora, even though I always order from Sephora if I can because I’m a VIB and love using promo codes for free stuff, and since these are annoyingly $49 (because making them $50 would grant everyone free shipping), I would have much preferred to order from Sephora since there are actually other things I need to buy from there. Oh well! I’ve been drooling over these for the past week, I was under the impression I would have to wait til Friday to order one!
I hope Urban Decay plans to do all of their palette this way from now on! I love that they’re reusable and that the colors can be popped out and switched around. It’s a “good deal” (as good a deal as overpriced cosmetics can be), too, considering each shadow pan is worth $18 retail, plus you get a free mini liner and lip pencil for the price.. I can’t wait to see your swatches and review, hopefully the Gilda palette will still be in stock by then so I can get it if I feel I’ve made a mistake! I’ve always been more of a bad witch, though.
I love the colors in Glinda much better but I am dying for the Theodora Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color. But I can probably get red lips just about anywhere, huh?
Any idea when you will be getting your hands on these to swatch?
$49? That seems pretty steep for an Urban Decay palette. I assume the packaging has to do with some of it, from the theme to the pop-out shadows, which I don’t love. The shadows in the Glinda palette seem really pretty though, so maybe a positive review will sway me 🙂
Both look nice! Theodora’s looks a little on the boring side though, they could of made it more witchy !
The quality will be there which is why I’m skipping the Archie quads & pigments for these instead.
Are these in Sephora stores yet? They aren’t on the website yet.
What are the Archie quads?!
MAC has a spring line coming out soon featuring “The Archie’s “, a classic comic book series.
Never mind just got both at my local Seph!
Just bought Theodora!! Can’t wait for it to get here 🙂
I want to be excited about this but the colors are leaving me a bit underwhelmed. I wonder if I am coming down with something?
Oooh, the second one looks fab!
I feel so Meh on these. The colors don’t thrill me, I’ve never been much into the WofO, the only redeeming bit about this iteration seems to be Rachael Weisz and I’m completely over UD like a once favorite lover gone to the Birkin set. Plus describing your own product as “insanely gorgeous” makes me want to start throwing boxes of Depends from my porch.
Haha…:)
Yeah that is a little obnoxious of them to advertise like that. They did something else like with their eyelash growing system thing, which did absolutely zero for me after a diligent routine with it.
However I have to say the Oz palettes are awesome, just got both had to have them.
The only problem is the glitter in a couple of the shades.other than that they are superb!
I really like the Glinda palette… but I’ve so many palettes already… and the colors aren’t SUPER unique. But the lipcolor is so lovely…
NNNGHH. I’ll just wait for reviews and swatches before I finally decide.
I thought that too until I went and swatched it in person and the Glinda palette actually has some really unusual colors in person. The Theadora palette is def dupable, but the Glinda palette is really unique in PERSON :-).
The Glinda palette looks so pretty! I don’t have a lot of girly colors (I use the naked palette everyday) so if it gets a good review I will definitely be picking this up!!!
Sorry, neither do anything for me 🙁
Phew, Thought I was the only one.
It could be UD overload and/ or the metal tin or both.
Ah! I don’t know which to get! Either way I’m going back for the 2nd one after payroll comes in! Yikes!
Get Glinda for sure, you won’t regret it hun. Theadora one can def be duped, but the Glinda one has some really unique colors, I bought it today and I love it :-).
OMG I must have these! I just went to there website and both them both out of Impulse, hopefully I won’t regret it *fingers crossed*
BOTH PALETTES ARE AMAZING… and I am not even a fan of the wizard of oz. SO SAD IM AN EYESHADOW NO BUY FOR THIS YEAR. yes no eyeshadow for the year of 2013. I have way too much eyeshadow as it is. But it doesnt mean I can’t get inspired. I know I have something similiar in my collection. The theodora palette.
Save the photo and go through my collection, and get inspired to put colors together that I normally wouldn’t!
Anyone think that the last shade in the glinda palette might be similiar to Urban Decay Suspect? I hope so.
on an**
Its a little different than suspect honey bunny. I will say that the duo shade in the top of the Glinda palette, its called Aura is BEAUTIFUL and I have nothing like it. It literally glows when I swatch it. I just bought the Glinda palette today and I love it :-). When I first got the catalog I thought all the colors were boring, but when I got to Ulta the Glinda palette had some unique colors that really shine in person. Now the Theadora palette can def be duped :-). Go swatch the Glinda palette, DO IT!! ;-).
Just ordered mine! I’m not into themes at all, but I love UD’s new formula and can’t wait to try the new shades.
The Glinda one looks so nice!!! The other one is ok too but I have enough brown eyeshadows. I want to wait for swatches before buying but I hope it doesn’t sell out…
I like the Glinda and I like that you get a liner AND a lipcolor, but I wish they (and all brands, really) would just stop making glitter eyeshadows altogether. They all fall out and unless you’re 14 it is really silly looking.
Why should all brands stop making glitter eye shadow? Because *you* think it looks silly if a woman wears it past pubescence? I’m glad many different tastes are catered to by cosmetic companies.
Agreed!!! Diversity in life, diversity in make-up I say. The more the merrier!
I agree 100%, I HATE glitter in eyshadows. That was the one thing that infuriated me about the original Naked palette. Half the colors were metallic WITH glitter. I love metallic shadows, but adding glitter just ruins it and makes no sense.
I must get the Glinda one! Passing on Theodora because I am not that into browns and greens. Plus I already have like a million zero eyeliners. Hopefully these come to Ulta soon because I have a 20% off coupon. Hoping I can use it towards this too. Can’t wait to see your reviews and the swatches!
Fair warning, if it’s the 20% ones you get in the mail, they won’t let you use it on the higher end cosmetics like UD. That’s part of why I reason why I limit what I buy there, since I find it a little backhanded.
I’ve read that before but I used my last 20% off to get the then new Naked 2 pallet, plus a bunch of other UD goodies. The only thing the coupon didn’t work for was some Clinique products. I just read on the coupon and it does state UD but so strange how it worked last time. That was last month and I still have receipt as proof. I have a $5 off UD coupon too so I will just order through them and use that instead.
A few times a year they send out a 20% coupon that allows you to purchase most of the brands that are normally excluded. That’s what you used last time. The one I received recently is actually letting you use it on a few more brands than usual but UD is one of the excluded ones. It’s the first time I’ve seen UD specifically listed as an exclusion, but I suspect the change in ownership may have something to do with it…or UD made it one of their contractual rules for 2013 sales.
I received a 20% Ulta coupon in the mail yesterday. It’s good for everything except Clarasonic and Urban Decay :(. Sigh…
Ulta might not let you use their coupon on the high end makeup : / (just a warning..)
*swatched*
The colors look great but I’m not a fan at all of the new packaging, way too bulky!
Are you kidding? Lol, the BOX’s that look like shoe boxes that these sets always come in is bulky. The tin format is MUCH more of an improvement. I prefer metal, which will last YEARS to that stupid cardboard crap they used to sell their palettes in. The cardboard was big and made no sense. This palette can be reused and is metal, which by anyones standards is better than cardboard….
I bought the UD tin pan set when it first came out in the 6. I was not impressed. Packaging is very important to me. I could live with the cardboard better than the tin. Maybe the shadows are nice…but touching a tin box leaves me with the chills.
the pigmentation is good for three of them but the colors aren’t unique for glinda or theodora. the packaging sucks and although you get the lip product and liner, it’s pretty expensive, considering that the incredible 15th anniversary palette cost $55. thank you loreal, urban decay is tanking.
I’ll echo your L’Oreal sentiments. So what is it? Like every mainstream cosmetic company is a subsidiary of four or five main ones. It depresses me greatly and I am thankful for all the indie companies (with a few notable exceptions) that create to their own tune, beholden to none.
Typically, I love UD and I was very excited to hear about these upcoming palettes, but they just don’t hold any appeal to me. The colors and design are pretty underwhelming in my opinion.
I think UD has the capability to do something much better than this. I am not impressed with this collection– I think I’ll skip this one.
Do you know when they will be available worldwide?
No, sorry!
