Urban Decay Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss
Urban Decay Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss ($20.00 for 0.13 fl. oz.) is a new (and permanent) formula that’s launching this spring. The range has nine shades, and the formula is supposed to be hydrating, comfortable to wear, high-gloss, and creamy. They have a light, creamy consistency that spreads easily over lips and doesn’t feel tacky for the most part (it gets just a wee bit tacky towards the end of wear). The wear time is typically between three and four hours, depending on the shade. The formula is comfortable to wear and nicely hydrating. A few shades did not apply as evenly as I’d like, as a few settled into lip lines or looked uneven/streaky. Urban Decay touts that these are like a “luxe gloss” and lip balm in one, and it really does feel like the shinier, slightly thicker lip balms (the ones commonly found in tubes, versus the stick-type). There was no discernible taste, but it had a sweet mint scent to me.
Beso is described as a “deep pink-mauve.” It’s a muted pink-plum with neutral-to-cool undertones and a creamy finish. Applied, it had semi-sheer to semi-opaque color coverage and goes on evenly, smoothly, and easily. It wore well for four hours on me. Giorgio Armani #524 (P, $29.00) is cooler-toned. Urban Decay Flushed (P, $19.00) is slightly pinker. NARS Oasis (P, $25.00) is more shimmery. NARS Dolce Vita (P, $25.00) is more opaque. See comparison swatches.
Freestyle is described as a “brown-nude with subtle micro-shimmer.” It’s a warm-toned, peachy-brown with peach and gold micro-shimmer. It had semi-sheer color coverage and a fair amount of micro-shimmer, which was never noticeable (no grit or texture from the shimmer), and it applied evenly for the most part. It wore well for three and a half hours. Revlon Peach (P, $7.49) is very similar. MAC Hot Spell (LE, $15.00) is browner, more pigmented. MAC Deliciously Demure (LE, $15.00) is more shimmery. MAC Sublime Shine (LE, $20.00) is similar. MAC Satin Slip (LE, $20.00) is sparklier. Bobbi Brown Beach (P, $24.00) See comparison swatches.
Liar is described as a “soft mauve pink.” It’s a medium, muted pink with subtle warm undertones and a cream finish. It had semi-sheer color payoff with some translucency that allowed the natural lip color to come through. It applied evenly overall and didn’t settle into lip lines too noticeably (especially not at a normal viewing distance). The gloss lasted for three hours. Maybelline Caramel Infused (065) (P, $8.99) is very comparable. Tom Ford Beauty Sugar Pink (P, $45.00) is cooler-toned. Urban Decay Obsessed (P, $19.00) is lighter. MAC Razzledazzler (LE, $15.00) is lighter. Chanel Nakkar (P, $29.50) has a slight shimmer. See comparison swatches.

What are you wearing for your face makeup? Everything looks so flattering. The last pic looks great, in particular. The lip color ties in with your blush which is a wonderful color for you.
Guerlain Parure de Lumiere + Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Liquid Illuminator + Urban Decay Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder
Those look like my kind of lipglosses. So plump and moisturizing. I hope UD does a sampler set of these in the future like they do with their eyeliners.
Only 10 long months to find out!
I’m not really impressed by any of the shades at all. Freestyle is nice looking as a sort of glittery gold topcoat to lipsticks. They all seem to add a little color, which is nice since they are supposed to be naked! Still, I’m getting tired of Naked-this, Naked-that. XP
Yeah, if you don’t love sheer gloss, this whole range is a skip!
Do you know if these will be replacing the lip junkie glosses? Would be a shame as they’re my favourite gloss. Also from these it seems that Freestyle is closest to Midnight Cowboy (my favourite) from the lip junkie range, would you say that’s accurate?
They haven’t said anything, but it was a thought I had when I saw Naked in this range and the color was exactly the same as Lip Junkie… Midnight Cowboy I think is a lot lighter – less bronze?
I like Freestyle, it seems to be a lighter and sheerer version of Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Attirance. On another note, that Dior blush looks good on you, Christine. 🙂
Thank you! 🙂
Beso and Liar look like my type of shades!
Yay!
Beso & Liar are gorgeous!! A lot of the ones I love seem similar but I don’t think I’ll be able to choose between them all =\
They are fairly similar! They’re all on the sheer side, so I don’t think you could make a bad choice.
These look really lovely, especially Beso. The description of the formula sounds similar to the Maybelline Color Elixirs – do you think the formulas are comparable?
I don’t – they have a completely different feel! Color Elixirs feel much thicker and heavier on.
Thank you – good to know. That makes these worth checking out for me, then.
At first I thought these were lipstick and got really excited. They’re still gorgeous shades, but I can’t remember the last time I shelled out for a lip gloss. I’m not a gloss person to begin with and I’ve found lots of great inexpensive options (namely from NYX), so paying for high end prices usually isn’t worth it for me
Probably a skip if you’re not into gloss then!
Not really a fan of sheer glosses like this as I feel they are all so similar that you don’t need many, at least it saves my wallet!
Definitely – you only need, at most, two or three if you like the formula, but more than that, you can’t really tell the difference between them applied!
These look gorgeous! I loved Razzledazzler the best!
Hi Lisha!
Do you mean Liar? Razzledazzler as mentioned as a possible dupe for Liar, but that product isn’t reviewed here!
9 shades of almost completely sheer lipgloss? I don’t know, it seems like overkill to me.
Some people like their sheer glosses, while others like their opaque glosses. They have their Lip Junkie range, which is very sheer, and a lot of people seem to like that, so my guess is it’s for customers that buy from that range 🙂 I don’t think anyone needs all the shades since they look alike on, though I’m sure some will see even the slightest difference and it will be enough for them, and that’s just fine with me!
Ooh, I love Beso – on you and for myself, haha!
Now I just have to wait for enough things I’d like to get from UD for the shipping not to cost 4x the item, 😛
Ouch @ the shipping!
If you buy one of these on the Urban Decay website you get free shipping. I just purchased 2 got free shipping and a free travel size De Slick. I hope this helps.
This really looks complete natural. The transprancy is awesome.
I love the packaging! They look nice and heavy like the Revolution lipsticks..
Beso looks so pretty, my favorite out of this lot!
Good morning, gorgeous Christine! Just thought I’d give a head’s up regarding the TBA size of the glosses. I just purchased mine and the UD website describes them as containing 4 ml/0.13 fl oz. which, in my opinion, is a shame considering it’s less than half the size as the Lip Junkies. Kind of a steep product-to-price ratio in my book, but if the formula is worth it I’ll def be willing to give it a try!
Thanks, Andrew! That is really good to know (I didn’t get any boxes with my glosses, just the actual tubes, and the sticker on the bottom just had the name, no oz.!). I agree that 0.13 oz. is low for a gloss, period, whether relative to Lip Junkies or not – I will say that Lip Junkies and any tube gloss tend to be a lot larger. e.g. MAC Lipglass is 0.17 fl. oz., and then glosses from Dior, Chanel, etc. are usually around 0.20 fl. oz.
I just bought Naked and Beso today. It was an ‘accidental’ purchase because I had no intention of buying these glosses and somehow bought them anyway. Except, I am so glad I did because they are both perfect.
