As I mentioned yesterday, as I was going through our Urban Decay Eyeshadow gallery, and I noticed we were missing a few shades from the permanent range–which was something that needed to be rectified! These three shades all wore eight hours before starting to show signs of fading along the edges, but otherwise, they were quite good.

Urban Decay Kush Eyeshadow ($18.00 for 0.05. oz.) is described as a “grass green shimmer with gold micro-glitter.” It’s a medium-dark, grassy green with warmer, gold shimmer-sheen. It had good color payoff (but it could be a little more opaque), and the texture was really soft and smooth. Makeup Geek Appletini (P, $5.99) is lighter. Fyrinnae Dragon’s Wing (P, $6.80) is lighter, brighter. Disney by Sephora Fins (LE) is less frosted. Sephora Collection Picnic in the Park (07) (P, $13.00) is brighter, cooler-toned. Sugarpill Midori (P, $12.00) is cooler-toned, less shimmery, darker. Milani Green Safari (P, $6.49) is a cream product, cooler-toned. MAC Fresh Flare (P, $21.00) is less frosted, darker. MAC Guacamole (LE, $15.00) is less shimmery, lighter. MAC Feeling Fresh (LE, $15.00) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches.

Urban Decay S&M Eyeshadow ($18.00 for 0.05. oz.) is described as a “steel grey shimmer with subtle taupe shift.” It’s a light-medium gray with a frosted, slightly metallic, finish and subtle warm undertones on top. It had good pigmentation, and the texture was very soft and buttery. Makeup Geek Mercury (P, $5.99) is lighter. Fyrinnae Frostbytes (P, $6.80) is cooler-toned. MAC Evening Grey (LE, $19.50) is darker. Guerlain Les Gris #4 (P) is similar. Estee Lauder Cyber Silver (LE, $24.00) is similar. See comparison swatches.

Urban Decay Twice Baked Eyeshadow ($18.00 for 0.05. oz.) is described as a “rich brown satin with gold micro-glitter.” It’s a warm-toned, medium-dark brown with a satiny, pearly shimmer. It had excellent color payoff, and the texture was soft, smooth, and easy to blend. Anastasia Truffle (LE) is lighter. Clarins The Essentials #9 (LE) is lighter. Too Faced Brown Sugar (LE, $16.00) is darker. MAC Her Cocoa #4 (LE, $15.00) is more metallic. MAC Copper Strip (LE, $21.00) is a cream product, darker. NARS Surabaya #2 (P, $24.00) is darker, less shimmery. See comparison swatches.

I actually really like all 3, including Twice Baked, which is warmer than what I normally gravitate towards. I’ve also begun to really embrace greens & silvers/greys, so I think I need to add these to my list…

It’s so funny reading the dupes for Kush – Brand X- less frosted, Brand Y- less frosted, Brand Z- less frosted! That’s Urban Decay for ya’ – if there was a “Frosted Olympics” they’d take Gold in just about every category! I have Kush in BOS3 and quite like it. Christine, do you know if there is a significant difference between Kush as a single shadow vs its incarnation in earlier palettes?

I forgot to check back for your reply! Thanks, Christine. I actually bought Maui Wowie as a single in the “new, improved” formula. I loved the colour so much but found it totally unwearable in the BOS3 formula and was so hopeful that it would be “better” in this new formula, when it was released as a single. It’s somewhat better but still basically unwearable for work or most situations. That’s why I’m doubly thrilled with Nars Kauai…the light side is a perfect dupe!

These are really nice colors! Love the shimmer effect!!

I wonder if they are ok for sensitive skin though? And also are they gluten-free? I am gluten-free, so I watch out for these types of things!! That is why I usually tend to use Lush, Glam Girl Naturals Cosmetics, and L’Occitane..

Love the colors though!

Don’t have a single eye shadow by UD since the names have always turned me off from the purchase. I know it’s minor, but I consider it as an overall part of the packaging. Even if the quality and colour range may be stellar the names like “Kush” or “Roach” among many others just don’t cut it. Thank you for the swatches, they do look great!

I got really excited when I saw Twice Baked (no UD where I live lol, a lot of this is new to me!!) because I have a THING for brown… but it looks a bit too warm for me. I’m sure I could still wear it, but I dream of the PERFECT neutral brown…

Christine–I noticed the description said something about microglitter for both Kush and Twice Baked. Did you notice a lot of fallout with the microglitter?

Kush looks quite tempting…I need to dig up my Twice Baked again.
