Urban Decay Eyeshadow Swatches (Part 2)

Here are ten more Urban Decay Eyeshadow Swatches! 🙂   The Swatch Gallery is really starting to come together, and just seeing all of the swatches show up makes all of the re-swatching completely worth it.

  • Aquarius is a muted blue with a gray overcast and frosted sheen.
  • Blaze is lightened coppery brown with a soft, metallic sheen.
  • Blunt is a medium golden yellow with a soft, frosted finish.
  • Chronic is a medium-dark grass green with subtly cool undertones and a matte finish.
  • Ecstasy is a medium-dark violet purple with a soft sheen.
  • Electric is a bright, cyan blue with a matte finish.
  • Fishnet is a fuchsia pink with purple iridescence. This is a deluxe eyeshadow.
  • Freakshow is a deep, dark purple with subtle red undertones and a pearly finish. This is a deluxe eyeshadow.
  • Frigid is a dark, blue-purple with a pearly finish. This is a deluxe eyeshadow.
  • Gash is a coppered red with a soft, frosted finish.

Urban Decay Eyeshadows are some of my favorites–they are typically very pigmented, smooth, buttery, and blendable.  The only shades to watch for are any that have the word “glitter” or “sparkle” in the description, because they tend to have a micro-glitter that just doesn’t bind with the color base, which means it either disappears between brush and lid (best case scenario) or you end up with a sparkly under eye (worst case scenario). Their matte finishes are soft and finely milled, but a note on application, these are so blendable that it’s easy to overdo it.

Ecstasy was the biggest miss here–it’s a little sheer and soft, you just can’t get as much color out of it as you should.  Frigid also seems to be lacking some color payoff, but it isn’t as sheered out as Ecstasy.   If you’re looking for more Urban Decay swatches, you can check out our full Urban Decay Eyeshadow Swatch Gallery! 🙂

Just a friendly heads up, you said Frigid is sheerer but I think you missed the picture. 🙂 I only noticed because I’ve been thinking about getting that shade for a while.

Ooooh, I spy a couple favorites in this batch!
Gash was the first UD shadow I ever bought. I’d seen it (or perhaps the liner of the same name) worn in an issue of Seventeen years earlier, and the name and image stuck with me. I ordered it online, but for whatever reason, there were difficulties placing my order. I ironically received the call about said difficulties while in my first actual Sephora store, where I saw the shadow and told the CS person on the phone that I’d just buy it there that second. And I did. The shade is a sentimental favorite, and, as of yet, the only shadow of which I’ve ever bought a backup.
Being a girl who loves her teals and blues, I frequently use Aquarius on the tear duct and inner third. I’ve made quite a dent in it, and that mini collection only came out last year!

Isnt “Fishnet” in the deluxe collection of Urban Decay….cost is different and has different packaging and texture? Maybe it’s my screen, but I wish the name is next to the swatch for easier reference.

I’m a bit, er…fearless with my eye looks, so I put it all over my lid. Only on occasion, though. I am pretty sure I have worn it in a more subtle manner. Perhaps try it in the crease with a warm brown (or something like Half Baked or Smog) on the lid? I do think it’d look awesome as a wash of color blended with UD’s Jones on the inner third. I’ve been meaning to try that.
I bet it’d also make a pretty awesome lipcolor if you scraped some out of the pot and blended it with gloss.

Try using it in the crease and blend up onto the brow bone a little bit when doing a grey or black smoky eye. It will make a nice red “glow” to the look and spice up the normally neutral smoky eye.

I do a single color smokey eye with it. It makes my eyes seem electric blue! You can get a burnt orange look at the edges when you blend it out well and you can build the color at the lash line or in the crease for a multi-tone single color effect. :0)

Blunt looks really pretty. I bet it would look gorgeous paired up with Gash. I already have Gash, so I just might have to get Blunt! However, that will have to be in 2012 because I have made a personal resolution to not buy make up this year. The one exception coming up, though will be when Jealousy Wakes (Christine’s MAC shadow) comes out. It’s one limited edition color that I can’t pass up!!

Like many, I am a big fan of UD eye shadows – not all the (to me) wild shades, but the ones I can wear or accent with. Their lasting power (on top of my always used Garden Botanika eye shadow primer (out long before other companies ever heard or or started to make primers – this one is the perfect shade always). I am a real fan of the UD matte shades especially. They are well pigmented I find yet I can blend and buff them out for a bold or softer look. They layer really well too. I pretty much only look at a few lines of shadows because I am tried of drawers full of stuff I bought then don’t like and don’t use. I have become beyond particular on my eye shadows I buy now.

I love blunt! I only have two full-sized single UD eyeshadows (the rest are in a palette), and one of them is blunt. It’s so pigmented that I end up using it as a highlighter over my blush as well as my nose bridge. Then I blend it out with a fluffy powder brush. Love that it’s so multi-purpose and blends into the skin well. I haven’t found a MAC dupe for this.

I’m in the process of deciding what to buy from the UD friends & family sale. Since I’m drawn to purples, I am lusting after Freakshow and Frigid, which has been on my wish list for quite a while. Would you say either is similar enough to Psychedelic Sister (which I already have) that I can probably skip?
