Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches (Part 2)

Here are the other nine shades from Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette ($55.00 for 15 x 0.05 oz.).

  • Vanilla is a pale white gold with yellow tones. It’s very shimmery and so smooth. It is extremely similar in color to MAC Nylon but has a less metallic finish.
  • Omen is a blue-based purple with a subtle pink layer. It’s a little pinker compared to Urban Decay Ecstasy. Initially, I was thinking it was more like Ransom, but not at all–Ranso is very blue-based and cool-toned. Inglot #441 is somewhat similar, but it’s quite a bit darker.
  • Ace is a darkened gray with a subtle silver sheen. It looks more interesting in the pan–like this mix of blue and green and gray, but it turns out rather gray when swatched. Urban Decay Gunmetal has a much blacker base, which gives it a darker, more intense look. It is very similar to theBalm Sexy Stacey.
  • Flow is a soft peach with a frosty finish. The color is similar to Inglot #330 but the finishes are different. theBalm Luscious Lani is less orange.
  • Evidence is a dark navy blue with a subtle sheen. This is a shade that most brands have–we’ve seen it often–and it’s similar to MAC Deep Truth (less intense), MAC Blue Sheen (less intense), Inglot #428, Make Up For Ever #308.
  • Blackout is a really deep, dark black with a matte finish. Make Up For Ever #57 is similar.  It seems darker than Perversion and has such a smooth texture with great color payoff.
  • Chase is a golden bronze with a frosted finish. It’s kind of like a much lighter version of Deeper (in this palette). Inglot #406 has much more copper in it. Urban Decay Smog is much darker, but the feel is the same.
  • Deep End is teal with a frosted finish; it seems to lean green in the pan but blue when swatched, which leads me to think it’s right there in the middle. It is a bit bluer than MAC Surf USA, but it is very similar (just more pigmented) to Milani Teal the Truth. Urban Decay Minx is greener, as is Flipside.
  • Half Truth is a smoky purple. As soon as I saw it, I was reminded of Urban Decay Rockstar, because it’s the cool-toned sister of it–there is the same muted, smoky color, but Rockstar is more of an eggplant purple with strong, red undertones. theBalm All the Way Annie is similar but still redder–which is also how Giorgio Armani #3 compares.

Please read Part 1, which has detailed information about the color payoff, quality, texture, packaging, etc. for the entire palette.

These are all gorgeous. Wow. I’m in love with Vanilla, Flow, Evidence and Chase. I think this is going to be my favorite UD palette (if I can get my hands on it).

Rawan Avatar

Wow! I think this is the firsr palette that i LOVE ALL colors in it!
I love neutrals and the colors here are the ones i geavetate to
Definetely on top of the wishlist

Dizzy Avatar

I need to see it in person, because I feel like the eyeshadow pans look so difficult to work with. I use brushes, but I personally prefer square or circular pans.

Jenna Avatar

I love the colours in the second half of the review!!! The first half had a lot of browns and golds which I already have a ton of, but these colours are beautiful! I really hate the packaging though!! Hmmmm…..not sure if I’ll pick this one up. I want to for the colours but I think I might regret it because of the packaging and because I already have browns, golds, matte black….. I’m torn!

Lindsay Avatar

I’m so excited for this palette. Great mix of neutrals and brights. Probably most excited that they are all new shades. I have a lifetime supply of shades like Midnight Cowboy and Half Baked.

Carrie Avatar

Agh! I want this, but I must be strong!

There really are too many shades I won’t wear, and I feel like it’d be me with the BoS III all over again. Dang it 🙁

Chris25 Avatar

The colors are very pretty, but I feel like we can find similar shades in the permanent lineup anyway, and you’ve listed substitutes that can be sufficient for a lot of people.

emi s. Avatar

Oh man, I love this. I just can’t justify it, too many shades I wouldn’t use & that I own similar ones.

I wish I could buy Half Truth as a single though.

Hi Christine – I just checked the swatch gallery to try and find something similar to Half Truth (the Armani is too pricey for me, and theBalm also comes in a palette), and it looks like the purple from MAC Double Feature 8 is pretty close. Would you say they look close to you? Thanks!

AmyD Avatar

ugh, i’m so conflicted! i have the naked palette, and i don’t have a lot of makeup in general, and want to keep it that way, so i’m not sure about investing in this palette…the swatches look sooo beautiful and i’m in love with half-truth, evidence, ace, and blackout. deep end and junkshow look so good but i just don’t see myself wearing them enough to justify the purchase. if ud had put a deep olive-y green in there, i’d be all over this :/

Ana Lopez Avatar

sephora is opening on October 21 in Antara Polanco and they sat they are going to have UD! I hope they can sell to all the country cause I don’t live in Mexico city

Jilliterate Avatar

Hmm…”Evidence” looks a lot like Annabelle’s “Lagoon.” Could it be that a big-name company is duping Annabelle for once, instead of the other way around? 😛

Deb Avatar

I am SOOO tempted to auto buy, but as someone else mentioned, I have BoS III and almost never use it. I could see myself using this more as the packaging is more practical, but the Naked palette really meets all of my needs right now.

Amalee Avatar

Ugh, I really want to buy it now on their site but I must resist since I have a Sephora store credit D: I really hate going on this site cus now there are so many things I want. I think its interesting how other products launched on Sephora but this palette hasn’t. Urban Decay definitely wants to build up demand for this palette.. cryyyy.

Leslie Avatar

These shades are really pretty but the packaging just kills it for me. I pretty much live with my boyfriend on the weekends, so I’m always packing my Naked palette because it’s the smallest all-around palette I own. In fact, it’s even a little big for travel. This looks gigantic and unwieldy, and I’ve never liked the tacky purple Urban Decay uses on all their packaging. Sure I could depot…but what’s the fun in that?

They need a lesson in package design from NARS.

Erin Avatar

Hey Christine,

Question for you- I checked out the swatch gallery to compare blackout to inglot’s 391 and perhaps its just my computer screen, but is blackout a deeper black compared to inglot’s? I am always on the lookout for the blackest black shadow available. Your opinion is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

Eileen Avatar

This is an absolutely stunning palette and I think I gave to have it! I’m 15 1/2 so I typically wear neutrals but I would love to incorporate a bit of colour into my makeup and I don’t have any high end eyeshadow so all 15 of these forge us shades for 60ish $ (it will be a little more expensive in Canada) is still a great deal and I will be sure to save up and get to sephora ASAP when it comes out so I can have it 🙂 ahh I’m so excited

Jo Avatar

I already put my name down on the Urban Decay website to notify me when it restocks, but is there a way to be notified when it comes out at Sephora and Ulta? I don’t own a lot of eyeshadows besides the Naked palette and this would be great for my collection but I’m afraid it’s going to sell out before I get one! 🙁

Paige Avatar

Do you know when this palette will be at ulta and/or sephora?? I LOVE this palette and it was sold out already at noon yesterday! I’m dying to get my hands on it!

Maggie Avatar

Wow, this is gorgeous! I love how these don’t seem to have chunky glitter or even micro glitter. The palette looks polished yet the colors still make it very Urban Decay. Very appropriate 15th anniversary palette.

I agree with you that Deep End looks very much like the perfect teal and is also the one shadow that is luring me in. I wonder which would be a darker shadow: Blackout or Black Dog from the UD Black Palette?

Liron Avatar

Are the natural- brown colors similar to the colors of the naked palette? In other words – I have the naked, do I need this palette as well??? 🙂

Memee Avatar

Thank you Christine! The colors are so pretty.

I don’t own a lot of make up and I can’t afford to buy every palette out there(even though I want to) I’m looking for the ‘one’ palette that I can use a lot, and probably will be the only palette I will have for now. I’m conflicting between getting 15yrs anniversary or the naked palette. What would you say is the best bet, in terms of overall quality, variety and price.

HappyLittleNinja Avatar

I’m torn in the same way! I love these colours, especially the ones in Part 2. But, because I’m new to makeup… I wonder if it might be better to get the Naked Palette. Then again, the 15th Anniversary colours are gorgeous! I like how none of them (except for Midnight Rodeo) are glittery. I think I prefer my non-neutrals to have matte/sheen/slight frost finishes as a way to get into them. Oh gosh! What do I do?

Nadia Avatar

amazing!! i really want to get this, but I am not sure if I should with my UD naked palette and UD 3rd book of shadow, but it is so tempting!! Maybe I should? Help you guys! But Christine would you say that the Vanilla color looks similar to the Femme Fi shade from MAC? I really want that shade, but if this is similar I wouldn’t want to buy Femme Fi when I can buy this palette!
